Sarah Palin’s Teleprompter Broke!

I DVR’d Morning Joe (the only MSNBC show I can stand), and just heard them mention, in passing, that Sarah Palin’s teleprompter malfunctioned. So I popped over to Memeorandum.com, and it’s the top story. Clearly, Sarah — in the most demanding and momentous speech of her LIFE — did not need this, but did she rise to the occasion or what?!?!?!? Obama, in contrast … well, read on:
BREAKING: Sarah Palin “Winged” Her Speech Because of “Broken” Teleprompter
Halfway through Sarah Palin’s speech tonight at the RNC, people following the speech noticed she was deviating from the prepared text.
According to sources close to the McCain campaign, the teleprompter continued scrolling during applause breaks.
As a result, half way through the speech, the speech had scrolled significantly from where Governor Palin was in the speech. The malfunction also occurred during Rudy Giuliani’s speech, explaining his significant deviations from his speech.
Unfazed, Governor Palin continued, from memory, to deliver her speech without the teleprompter cued to the appropriate point in her speech.
Contrast this to Barack Obama who, when last his teleprompter malfunctioned, was left stuttering before a crowd unable to advance his speech until the problem was resolved.
Can you imagine speaking before tens of thousands of people — and to millions via their TVs and radios — and having the equipment break down?
I wondered why she was checking her text. Now we know.
She continued to deliver the speech “from memory”?
Most significantly: DID any of you get any idea that she was having to scramble since the machine broke? No. I didn’t either, except for her glances at the written text.
Now that is poise. That is class. That is grace under intense pressure.

I’ve been catching up on the various articles — and nearly all the trolls remarks are sexist — even on the articles ABOUT the sexism. JERKS.
These creeps are transferring their unfocused hatred for Hillary onto Sarah. Their hatred of Hillary is unfocused because none could give a valid reason why they hated her — except that Hillary is female. Now we have another female politician and the same sort of sexism from the trolls. It’s nearly impossible to know the gender of the blogger — so I guess these trolls are unisex misogynists (or self hating females).
And to think we could have had Hillary and Wes Clark — that would have been nicely balanced ticket.
Even if Sarah is a conservative and a Republican — she still has the life experience of being a woman. And she is getting the Hillary treatment — which is going to make he a hell of a lot tougher than the dem male candidates. This is not a POW experience — but sometimes I wonder. Being a female in THIS culture with the constant sexism is at times not unlike being a POW.
Thankfully there are so many men who can see the misogynistic American culture — and help create an oasis of sanity in an insane world.

But we need to begin the transition. And yes, I think it will work. But like any tech we need do more so the tech can improve. Like she said, it can’t be done overnight. But I think she and McCain know it must be done. I sure hope it can be done, because we will be running out. Maybe not next year, or arguably not in 10 years, but we will run out.

Ive worked with teleprompters and when you are controlling them you have the ability to slow them down or speed them up so the speaker always has the right text in front of them. What were the sound and stage people doing? It isn’t hard.
Good for her for keeping her head on right. Most people would have lost it and just skipped ahead to stay with the text. She handled it like a true professional. I like her speech even more now.

After last night’s speech, all I could say was bravo! Brilliant job. Now reading this, I say bravo X’s 10! She just has to open her month and you can tell she’s untainted. I’m also from small town, middle America. She’s like a very smart, gal next door. And her line about hockey moms………… that was just great….. and true I might add. I was a crazy, committed hockey mom, complete with 3am wake up calls for ice time and let me tell you, there is nothing demure about that bunch, no way. Palin is the real deal and I can’t wait to see her shake up Washington. I hope the Obama folks were wearing diapers last night cause they had to be s _ _ _’n in their britches ……. What is really telling: did anyone notice that reporter that CNN sent up tp Alaska to do some “investigative” (dig for dirt) reporting on Palin transformed from unfairly pre-judging her the previous days into almost a fan of hers last night?
Maybe she discovered the truth up there by talking to everyone. Maybe she’s realized Palin isn’t as bad as she was pre-programmed to believe. We’ll see if CNN reins her back into pushing their talking points.
I did notice this about Kiera Phillips. The first report from Alaska, she was stern and determined to find something negative. After one day of meeting and talking to people who know Sarah Palin, she was a totally different reporter! Said she’d like to spend some time having a beer, talking and getting to know her. Last night with the sister and BIL, she was downright giddy.

What I saw last night was a woman in control of herself, very astute and a lot of class. Broken teleprompter did not halt her speech due to the fact she tells it as is. When you base what you say with your track record, a broken teleprompter is not a problem; when you don’t have a track record, broken teleprompter is a big problem. Governor Sarah Palin is the new face for women in politics, working mother, balancing career while raising a family. Anyone who downplay women’s role in our society especially in economic perspective is a fool. Once she is our VP, only a heartbeat away from Presidency, you’ll see the rush of women in public and private sector. There has to be a pioneer to break that hard ceiling Hillary left with 18 million cracks. Gloria Steneim who is now 74 years old is criticising Palin, she have forgotten, this is not her generation anymore. Sarah Palin represent the new face of women in this country. God bless her.

And you probably were one of millions who didn’t bother to see into the eyes of wounded veterans and state policy makers when they placed the roll call. Didn’t anyone bother to pay attention to those? Face it- the required number of votes were exceeded and mattered to the states that are pro drilling, pro-life, and are not afraid to position themselves in professionalism and respect of the elders who put us here. The only states that were ‘nay’ demographically were democratic, especially Wisconsin but that is changing because there is a current voter fraud investigation.

I watched it on PBS. There was one shot of the Teleprompter. It was moving during the applause.
By the way PBS is far from unbiased. Gwen Ifel looked physically ill. Maybe just from being tired, but I think from her grimaces it was more than tired setting in. She will moderate the debate between Sarah and Biden. David Brooks did praise Sarah he appeared shaken.

I saw her with papers in front of her having to refer to them. And I started to wonder why she wasn’t using the teleprompter.
I saw that with my own eyes. Maybe it didn’t break, but clearly there was a point where she lost her place due to the applause and maybe the teleprompter scrolling too fast.

Palin was a lousy mayor who took a town with $0 debt in 1996 and left it $22 million in the hole in 2002, mostly from the hockey rink/sports complex she shoved down their throats which never became the money generator she promised it would. Another white elephant from another white elephant.
Even with the stable Clinton economy during most of her mayoral tenure and Jack Abramoff’s crony she hired to lobby Washington to help her now indicted buddy Ted Stevens ring up $27 million in federal pork for tiny Wasilla (pop. 5000 when she entered office) she still managed to leave the town swimming in debt.
She was so heavy handed the town’s folk forced her to hire an administrator to handle day to day operations or face a recall.
As governor she is borrowing from Alaska’s future while she wants to give away today’s Alaskan windfall oil tax bonanza and the huge surpluses they’ve generated in bread and circuses tax giveaways. Alaska gets 89% of it’s operating budget from taxing oil coming out of the ground just like Arab kingdoms and Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela. They have no state income or sales tax up there. Instead of using that windfall to pay for all the profligate spending her Republican legislature keep sending her she’s issuing bonds to pay for it all which Alaskans and US taxpayers will have to pay off in future years while she takes credit for tax “rebates” while she’s governor.
Her fiscal policy is a disaster in the making which won’t hit til she’s left the governor’s office. She’d be a disaster as Vice President especially to a President who despite his grevious wounds and type A personality is already past the age his father and grandfather died of sudden heart attacks.
She can put on all the lipstick she wants but her political record is for the dogs.
P.S. the teleprompter broke story is just more Republican B.S. Don’t you ever get tired of being lied to?
