Update: McCain/Palin campaign are in Colorado Springs handing out American Flags with a great background story, they were found near dumpsters by a vendor after the Democratic National Convention bound for the dump. McCain and Palin recycled the flags and handed them out to people attending the rally. See the video for yourself:

Have you ever wondered what happens to those flags after the convention? The mystery is solved… and RedState has all the proof in pictures. RedState gave us a bird’s eye view of the convention trash when all the folks left the Pepsi Center….when the speeches were done…..when they all headed to the over the top coronation at Invesco Field. It wasn’t a pretty sight, so much for recycling.
I know for a fact there is a right way and an incorrect way to dispose of the American flag….. and throwing it away isn’t the right way. So here goes a lesson on disposing of the American Flag…..American Flag 101 for all good citizens who threw their flags in the trash….
According to the USA Flag Site a flag should be burned or destroyed in a dignified manner. Okay that is Flag Etiquette for Dummies! (It is possible that veterans organizations like the American Legion may offer disposal of flags as well.)
The problem with these flags they were neither tattered or torn, still in good shape as a matter fact, it is just that people just discarded them without a thought! Shame on the folks at the Democratic Convention. I know you all sleep better at night because of that flag and those who defend it! Too bad you have no respect for it!
Recycle, for God’s sake.
Shame on the DNC for not instructing THEIR party convention goers what to do with their flags. Not surprising considering the greater emphasis on hype and show for the coronation though.

I wish that congress would pass a bill for the president to sign that designates the flag as a national monument and therefore must not be subjected to vandalism or acts of vandalism. Then it will subject to the same respect and treatment as govt. buildings and other national monuments.
That’s right. And every time anyone wants to use the flag they should have to pay a tax for using public property. Not only that but then businesses shouldn’t be allowed to sell items that show the flag because they would be profiting from a public resource! H.E.double hockey-mom sticks we should just ban use of the flag. Maybe just have 100 or so in the country at any one time so that we can post troops around them and make sure no one has the ability to do anything bad to it.

It sure shows an bad attitude within the Democratic Party that needs to be corrected. Begin by teaching people a respect for the flag and after that continue to teach them respect for a myriad of other things. Respect for the life of the unborn, and so on and so forth.

I wonder where and from who he learned it? That same carelessness would follow him to the White House if elected. Carelessness for everything and everyone. How about respect for the life of females? Would YOU want to be forced to give a kidney or piece of your liver, or possibly a part of your body that could kill you, to a child or group of cells that are a potential child?
That’s what is asked of a female when she is pregnant. There are all kinds of things given up by her - the fetus takes what it needs. The female has to make do with what’s left. If that means loss of her teeth, kidney function, heart problems and possible cerebral hemorrhage while birthing, that’s what the fetus demands. That’s just a small list of things that can be problems because of pregnancy.

It’s funny how the libs/dems can pull out the flag and wave it when it makes them feel good( and they have just as much right as the next person to do it), and when it suits their cause, then turn around and leave it on the floor or in the trash!!
As some one who has been to many pro troop rallies(something they call “pro war rallies), I usually bring my own flag, but it always comes home with me. If those flags meant so much to the people in Denver, why couldn’t they take the flags home as a sentimental reminder of the history making event( and I mean that with respect ) that they had just been a part of?

I have never seen Obama make any sacrifices, his chartible contributions were almost nill until he decided to run for president and then he felt that it would be in his best interest to give something.

The flags were spotted by a Scoutmaster who made a few phone calls and the next thing you know a troop of Boy Scouts showed up and went dumpster diving. They collected 12,000 flags, transferring them into 84 large trash bags for transportation.

Analyzing the green claims, the writer noted that the Dem VIPs arrived in big honking SUVs and limos, and the vehicles had their engines running while waiting for their passengers. He has a picture (though you cannot from a still see an engine running — however this is not a political blog but a wonk blog so I give it credibility).

They could have avoided this by using striped bunting and starred flags or something other than the whole flag. I get a constant subliminal message from the Obama campaign that they are against America. One message that wasn’t so subliminal was a splash page on the BO/BS site that had the American eagle turned away, as if in retreat, the olive branches dropped, the snake dropped–there were comments on it and now it’s just a fleeting flash they haven’t totally deleted, between screens.

On the foreign policy front and trash left behind—don’t you think the Putin quote that the Georgian/Russian confrontation was manufactured by the US in order to make one of the candidates look good kind of interesting because it was clearly aimed at the idea it made McCain look good. I thought that was a real left-handed compliment to McCain and still wonder what Putin is up to. But it also speaks to the combined international experience of Obama and Biden. I am sure Biden is selected to add that international experience to the ticket. The only VP choice I can think of that relies on the VP choice to bolster the candidate’s international experience is Bush II: Bush II and Obama—so many scary parallels.

The Democratic presidential ticket of Obama-Biden holds a six percentage point lead over the Republican McCain-Palin ticket, 48% to 42%, in Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Thursday to Saturday. This includes two days of interviews after Obama’s acceptance speech as well as McCain’s vice presidential announcement.
