Rasmussen: Palin Now More Popular Than McCain and Obama

Do you love this title or what????

A week ago, most Americans had never heard of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Now, following a Vice Presidential acceptance speech viewed live by more than 40 million people, Palin is viewed favorably by 58% of American voters. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 37% hold an unfavorable view of the self-described hockey mom.

The figures include 40% with a Very Favorable opinion of Palin and 18% with a Very Unfavorable view (full demographic crosstabs are available for Premium Members). Before her acceptance speech, Palin was viewed favorably by 52%. A week ago, 67% had never heard of her.

The new data also shows significant increases in the number who say McCain made the right choice and the number who say Palin is ready to be President. Generally, John McCain’s choice of Palin earns slightly better reviews than Barack Obama’s choice of Joe Biden.

Are you laughing hysterically yet? It gets better:

Perhaps most stunning is the fact that Palin’s favorable ratings are now a point higher than either man at the top of the Presidential tickets this year. As of Friday morning, Obama and McCain are each viewed favorably by 57% of voters. Biden is viewed favorably by 48%.

There is a strong partisan gap when it comes to perceptions of Palin. Eighty-nine percent (89%) of Republicans give her favorable reviews along with 33% of Democrats and 59% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

She earns positive reviews from 65% of men and 52% of women. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows that Obama continues to lead McCain among women voters while McCain leads among men. The Friday morning update—the first to include interviews conducted after Palin’s speech–showed the beginning of a Republican convention bounce that may match Obama’s bounce from last week.

Ooooooooo. Not good Barky. Not good at all. Dang! Michelle must be stamping her feet! You keep shooting at Sarah, ya hear? And make sure CNN and MSNBC keep it up too. See how well it works out for you. You pulled the race card for a year. Now it’s the S card, Barky. Hurts, doesn’t it?

Thanks for your help, man!

Karma wore a pantsuit but now is wearing a skirt. ;-)

There was a sign one person in a crowd was holding which read “Sarah, You had us at HELLO.”

All joking aside, this PUMA wore her first Women Power T-shirt in 1969 sitting on a tank at an anti-war rally.

We have still not come a long way baby, but we are getting there. Equal has expanded to mean equal representation. Isn’t it time the father of our country is joined by a mother for our country?

PS - I started a long list of the “ABC’s ob BO” (A is for Ayers, Auchi, etc….) if we could have an open thread and all contribute it would be fun to sum up this past year of BO. I’ll be back to NQ late this afternoon after work and post what I have so far here.

If Susan (or someone) can open a new thread that would be great.

Comment by karen for Clinton (sigh, McPalin now) | 2008-09-07 05:16:41

Can we get an open thread for it, please?

Comment by Kathleen | 2008-09-07 11:03:05

karen,

You’re absolutely right in pointing out that equal should mean equal representation.

In fact, wasn’t it “taxation, without representation” the reason for the Revolutionary War? Well, it’s time for another revolution to finally allow women to have a say in how we are governed.

Women make up over 1/2 the population, yet, are still marginalized and demonized whenever any woman dare stands up and says she can do better. Why?

We still have a long way to go baby, but we are definitely on our way. In the process, I hope those men who are still threatened by a strong woman will come to realize that women are not the enemy and that, when they are in power, will not marginalize men as they have women, since the beginning of time.

Oh, the irony. What a terrible loss of a golden opportunity that was right there in the hands of the DNC patriarchy and the women that continue to serve them, but they decided to throw away and then tried to destroy an extraordinarily qualified woman for a male fraud (no pun intended).

And for what? They will be trying to answer that question for a long, long time.

I was listening to PUMA radio online and their guess was some woman named Gloria who was a Hillary delegate, even with all the issues she talked about at the roll call vote now she is on the radio talking bunk about getting Obama elected.

What is wrong with these people, have they all gone nuts, to her its frightening to have Palin a heart beat away from the Presidency she just cant have that and voters should be scared of such and put Obama in there to stop this madness.

Honestly I am getting the funny feeling that some of these female Hillary supporters now don’t care about this country all they want to ensure is that another woman does not take Hillary’s place, so if that means getting Obama elected they rather do that.

How long are they going to sit there and wait for Hillary to get her chance until 2016 when Hillary herself may have lost the taste of politics, she did say Hillary is trying to get her debt retired and Hillary will do what she needs to do,well that sure does not make me feel good as a supporter and voter, it sure seems like its every man for his self now, what about the people all the this ones for you crap.

Seems the debt is important so if they can con voters into electing Obama it will be a job well done and the debt will be paid, so much for doing for your country.

Hillary is not helping Barky get elected no matter how it may appear. Hillary is out campaigning to put a democrat in the white house, namely her. She is getting out there and staying visible in case she has to step in for Obama if the Berg lawsuite is successful, http://www.obamacrimes.com , or if one of those skeletons gets yanked out of the closet and does him in. If nothing succeeds and it gets close to November, don’t be surprised if Hillary or Bill gets someone on releasing a major scandal to the media under the radar! They know what they are doing here. Trust the Clintons!

Comment by bemused | 2008-09-07 08:59:00

The trouble is, in politics you commit yourself to serving for discrete lengths of time and it’s to party as well as policy. All these elected people have to stick in there and play a part, though many would probably like to kick others in the teeth. Like gritting your teeth and trying not to spoil a big wedding, it might be fun but you might never get invited to another one. So she has to at least look like a team player while she backs off slowly.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-09-07 11:46:15

She risks ostracization from the party if she doesn’t suckup for The One. That is serious stuff. It’s blackmail of the highest order. But the joke will be on them in the end. Timing. It’s EVERYTHING.

I just have a gut feeling… there is much more to come. We know really little about the man who has written two books about himself. So little about certain things that shouldn’t matter… that you just know something is very wrong. I hope as well, the election will be properly monitored for voter fraud. His folks are so certain they have this huge previously untapped voter base. I hope somebody will be verifying the registrations and things like mail in ballots. These guys don’t care how they win… they just want the end result that they want.

Comment by fluffy bunny | 2008-09-07 00:51:52

Comment by bemused | 2008-09-07 09:04:18

BO/BS in some ways reminds me of a couple of meth freaks I used to know. They were not particularly jittery as one might expect when high, though they were really pathetic blobs when down. But they were convinced no one could tell when they were high. They also couldn’t walk outside for the mail without getting high, they were so dependent. So, yes, he would definitely go out under the influence because the only time he can perform is when “up.”

It does rain up here that’s why I have moss growing on my back.
However, it has been very dry up here lately. I’m tempted to ask Northwest Rain to soak me so I can turn green again.

Remember WTO and the riots up here. The Obamabots up here are anarchists and I wouldn’t put anything past them. If I put some of my favorite bumper stickers on my car I’m sure they would key it.

Obamabots in Wa State are depressing for sure. They want America to be punished defeated and humiliated.
Very much like suicide!

Eight years of Bush II has punished, humiliated, and defeated us quite well, thank you.

Oh yeck — how can people in WA state be so stupid?????

However, I have stupid inlaws on the east coast.

It will be interesting to see what happens as the GOP machine gets to work showing who Soetoro really is — all the secrets that he thinks are hidden. There are paper trails — and when you travel to third world countries they keep a lot of records.

This is so strange — never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would be cheering on the Republicans to expose a fraud.

Both parties have some unsavory characters and both parties need some serious corruption busting.
