Lookout! Flip Flopper Obama Strikes Again!!!
By Ani on September 18, 2008 at 9:25 PM in Backtrack Obama, Barack Obama, Flip Flopping
Today in Politico, Jonathan Martin made note of yet another example of Barack Obama’s fine leadership abilities and decisive stands on the issues.
Brace yourselves:
Obama Outraged at Being Accused of Not Supporting Something He Doesn’t Support
Obama, on the trail in New Mexico, had this to say of McCain:“And today he accused me of not supporting what the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Bank did with AIG despite no evidence whatsoever that that’s what I had said.”
To recap, when I wrote earlier today that Obama supported the bailout, I quickly was instructed by his staff that this was not the case. He just didn’t oppose it, I was told.
Now he’s so adamant about not opposing the Fed’s move that he’s complaining about McCain’s portrayal.
Where, I wonder, is the line between not opposing and, ya know, supporting.
Thanks, Jonathan, I was wondering the same thing. The economy is in the toilet. I have no idea what Obama thinks he’s realistically going to do to get us out of it and now I can’t even get an honest opinion or assessment from him of what he thinks about what the Administration has already done.
I guess he needs to consult some polls first to see which way the wind is blowing. Ya know, if the American people like it. Or check with those 300 policy advisors to see if he’s for it or against it.
That is, if he even knows which group got bailed out? Does he? Let’s check.
On ABC’s Political Punch, Jake Tapper posted this little item the other day:
AIG, AIG, AIG, AGGGGGHHHHHH
At a time when Sen. Barack Obama is trying to project expertise and instill confidence in his potential stewardship of the economy, his campaign this morning sent out his statement on the Fed’s bailout of the AIG where it misidentified the American International Group, calling it the “American Insurance Group.”
So we could change Martin’s Politico.com title from:
Obama Outraged at Being Accused of Not Supporting Something He Doesn’t Support
to:
Uh oh. Well, come on, Jake. He’s busy campaigning. He got confused. Can’t he just eat his waffle?
And while we’re on the subject of for or against:
Without recapping every single example of Senator Obama’s misstatements or flip flips, cause, ya know – we’d be here all day – I harken back to an interview Obama did with The Advocate, after GLBT groups complained he wasn’t making himself available to them. The interview is so nice. He just sounds so nice, and he agrees with everything you say. And he sees all sides of the issue and still of kind manages to insult good Democrats in the process.
Why discuss an interview on an unrelated subject? Because by the end of it, I defy you to figure out if he’s pro gay rights or not, pro choice or pro life. Pro Democrat or Pro Republican. Please, read it for yourself. Typical. We’re left scratching our heads…
Window or aisle, Senator? Smoking or non-smoking? Decaf or Regular?
Darlin’, in the White House, with your feet up behind that desk, ya can’t just vote ‘present.’ Ya know, like ya did 130 times in the State Legislature. And ya can’t say “oops, I hit the wrong button” six times, either.
A decision was required on the vote on FISA for instance. Where’s that filibuster Senator? What too much work? To expend political energy and lung power for a principal. Say like protection from warrantless searches. Like not giving retroactive immunity to telecom companies for what they did…
In a crisis, real leadership will be required, too. You may not have time for those polls. What if those 300 advisors are on a ski trip at Banff?
A decision is required.
Yay or nay.
Pick one, Senator Obama.
We’re waiting.

“Where, I wonder, is the line between not opposing and, ya know, supporting.”
The name of that line is ‘present’.
LMAO!
ah yes, obama the flip-flopper. since john mccain has always supported tax cuts and economic regulation by the government. and what better way to get us out of the enormous canyon of debt we’ve dug in the past 8 years than to cut taxes again?!…and continue to bail out the banks…and people with home foreclosures…and fight never-ending wars in iraq and afghanistan. here’s a concept: money.doesn’t.grow.on.trees. WHO KNEW?
Barack Obama is not an acceptable presidential candidate. Period. His flip flops are just one aspect of that unfitness.
However, here is a a woman who is prepared to be Vice President, and President, if the need arises.

Yup…
Yes We Can’t!
great article and site! my good friend just did a compare contrast piece on the two candidates. pretty intriguing.
http://womenartmoney.blogspot.com/2008/09/compare-and-contrast.html
get lost shit for brains. you’re a fucking satanic kook like your other Obama troll friends.
yeah I loved the part where he is a good Christian for going to that hate mongering church of his, or Todd Palin being bad for getting a DUI 20 years ago but no problem with Obama abusing drugs.
Remembering Obama’s bullshit claim that he considered joining the military but they ran out of wars..
Obama was too poor to afford a car or he would have had a dui too but instead he smoked grass snorted coke and went to harvard.
iF WAS ONLY DRUGS!!! lOOK AT hIS (oBAMAS) CORRUPTED PASS. hOW ANYONE CALL sARAH pALIN ,”UNFIT” “NO EXPERIENCE”, ATE THE SAME TIME DONT ATTACK OBAMAS “EXPERINCE AND FIT-NESS”\NO ONE IS RE,MINING US ABOUT OBAMAS INEXPERIENCE , WHAT IS WRONG PEOPLE, DID YOU GIVE UP, THE MOST IMPORTANT; NO EXPERIENCE, ALL OBAMAS ADVISORS ARE CORRUPTED ‘POLITICAT TIEFS”, LIES, BIRTH CERTIFICATE,GAY RELATIONSHIP,IRAQ,FISA,DNC,RACISM,WRIGT,TRINITY CHURCH,MICHELLE,9/11 NOSHOW BY MICHELLE, PRISING WRIGHT BY MICHELLE SAME DAY ON 9/11, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE???
You don’t have a clue to Obama’s experience. It sure isn’t what you wrote. If you think that man gives a shit about you and yours, I have some swamp land here in Florida for sale. What is wrong with you people? Do some reading. Investigate that man you are standing up for. You all sound like fools.
cody is one of those Obama Internet Terrorists.

Just curious but isn’t Obama running against John McCain? Then why is he compared to Sarah Palin?
Obama also wears a bra and panties under his suit?
Obama isn’t the man of the house?
I heard Michelle was spotted walking Barky around the house with a collar and leash.
it’s called puppy play
Heard an aquaitance of Michelle on Fox yesterday. She told the interviewer that Michelle has more influence on Barry than anyone else. She made it sound like Michelle calls the shots folks. Kind of confirmed our thoughts didn’t she. This person has known Michelle for awhile. Sorry I forget the exact connection but she has known Michelle for years. From Chicago and she may have been a newspaper reporter. It sure was interesting to hear her confirm that.
berserk — Michelle is the muscular one. Obama had arms like a girl.
Barry’s word fog gets in the way.
Even yes or no answers are too difficult for him to spit out.
Yes or no is taking a position. Something that he doesn’t like to do as we all know so well? FISA? cul8tr
What Obama does is much blurrier than flip-flopping. I confess I have no idea whatsoever what this man would do if he were President. Just when we needed a good Democrat!
The only problem Perry is that if he is elected, that flip flopping alone will cost you and your family your future and theirs. Once this pathological habitual flip flopper becomes President, no one, nothing will be able to work the way if was intended to work, not Congress, not the Homeland Security Dept., the Dept of Defense, the whole Administration, the economy, nothing.
Exactly. Have you ever had an indecisive boss who could never make up their mind or clearly articulate their plans and goals? That will be our entire government.
It’s that “blizzard” of words……
That’s Obambi. And that’s what he is going to do and say in the debates. He will be for what McCain is for but against what McCain is for except annoyed that McCain accused him of something he said in the past contrary to what he is going to make absolutely clear right now.
Its not what it was, its what its going to be.
That’s not what I said when I said that.
Impressive lark,
You speak Obamaease.
Obama says: “Now let me be clear”…
The notion that….
That’s a debate I’m happy to have….
Obviously you haven’t been paying attention …
oBAMA WAS HILLARY SHADOW, HER SPEACHES,IDEAS,MORE HILLARY SPEACHES, NOW HE WILL FALLOW MCCAIN AND PALIN. I HOPE REPUBLICAN WILL WAKE UP AND START PAYING ATTENTION INSTEAD ATTACKING MCCAIN.MAYBE OBAMA IS FILTHY RICH, THAT HE CAN BUY THEM ALL, CONGRES AND SENAT. IF REPUBLICANS ARE ATTACKING MCCAIN, THAN I AM AFFRAID, THAT HE-OBAMA WILL WIN, AND ;WOMAN,OLD,MIDDLE CLASS,SOCIAL SECURITY, WE ALL BE PUNISH FOR NOT VOTING FOR OBAMA.NOW BEYING THREATNING WITH UPRISING AND POSSIBLE REVOLT IF OBAMA WONT WIN??? IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE, THAT OBAMA IS NOT THE GUY, HIS SUPPORTERS THOUGHT IN PRIMARIES. THEY LET HIM GET OFF THE HOOK.WHEN I WAS WATCHING OBAMA YEAR EGO, I THOUGHT THAT THIS MAN IS GREAT AND HE SHOULD GO TOGETHER WITH HILLARY, THEN LOOK WHAT HAPPEND, HE FOOL US ALL. i HOPE HE RETHING HIS IDEAS AND SELFISHNES, AND SHOW THE OBAMA WE NEED IN THIS COUNTRY, NOT THE ONE WE CAN SEE NOW!
Nay
He’s always present before he changes his vote to present.
Makes voting for it before voting against it almost sensible.
Somewhere between the Land of Oppose
And the Land of Support
Is the Land of Present
It’s a funny country, because even though it’s there, it’s not like being Anywhere

OT - Donald Trump endorses McCain!
He was for Hillary but now says Senator McCain is an intelligent choice.
Also says economy will probably get worse before better unfortunately.
I saw that…great endorsement.
Obama, you are fired!
GREAT… dONALD SHOW US, THE HE IS THE REAL GUY, AS HE IS.
OBAMA WILL HAVE NO CHANCE ON DONALD SHOW” OBAMA, YOU ARE FIRED”
Donald Trump is a PUMA!
alice paul — good to see Trump endorsing McCain.
Bill Clinton talks about Sarah Palin here:

It’s about 2:57 seconds into the clip
Check it out
Very nice.
That’s why he is the big dawg.
Boy, do I miss that man. And Hillary too.
http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=860157194
I love how he says he always thought Obama would will the election. Is there anyone in the democratic party that does not feel the need to lie anymore?
but he also said barring an unseen event, anything can happen in a debate.
Listening to that clip made me so sad — Think where we’d be if we had Hillary’s smarts front and center right now.
He is always against being for something that he was for being against but that was only because he was asked so it was the asker’s fault.
Ferd that asshole is making me dizzy.
You mean Oblahblah? All that spinning gets to me, too.
Yeah that asshole. Is there any other?
Axelgrease, Donna, and Dean–but they’re history after November.
Dont click on Cody’s link, unless you are in the mood for some koolaid.
Koolaid is code for lies…
Oooh, how did we ever know?
Greta just called that Canadian columnist a pig for calling Palin a porn actress and her voters white trash. cripes that guy defending the journalist is full of shit…omg, he spins the bullshit like Obama does….she called her a pig again!! go Greta go!!
I love that woman more and more.
wodiej — That guy was jarring to the psyche. So this is what people are saying at the water cooler and its important that we get it out? What the hell is that? Women are really in for it if that Obama/fraud takes over.
At least with waffles, there’s always two sides to enjoy!
Got syrup?
Yeah but he has so many personalities to go with his two faces that the potential combinations border on the limitless. He could set up an entire think tank of the absurd all by himself. Got a lucky number program?
I really like Greta
Most PUMA’s like Greta… she is working within the limited framework she is given.
Greta is definitely a compassionate ear. But we need more help!!
leisa — I like Greta so much. I really trust her and I really trust Hannity. What’s happened to O’Reilly?
I’ll be interested about how he’s going to react to this….
http://www.rightcommentary.com/2008/09/18/us-government-commits-to-a-bailout-of-the-banks/
This is going to be so complicated - he’ll probably flip more than a fish out of water.. it’s going to be brutal…
Bryan
http://www.rightcommentary.com
Bryan,
Who is the “he” you are referring to?
Thanks,
BTW, I think I know what you are trying to do, but whoa…
I do not support Obama; however that does not make me a complete convert to conservative ideals.
I believe that I may speak for many independent minded Democrats with my last statement…
Tread lightly here…
Look at these Polls!
http://realclearpolitics.com/
Over on the right where it says “battleground states”
You know.. YOU KNOW that the bambi camp thought that the polls right now would be bambi in the 70’s-80’s and McC would be in the 20’s-30’s in these important states.
They are freaking tight in all the battleground states! This is just hysterical to me!
And I’m sure those polls are heavily rigged for Obama.
Pollsters try to avoid rigging more than 1.5 times the the margin of error.
So if its 3 point margin, the polls try to avoid rigging by more than 4.5 points.
It would be too obvious.
Also notice that many polls will not reveal how the respondent break down. because that makes the lean i the poll blatantly obvious…
The lates cbs poll comes to mind where they revealed the respondants and they were 38% dem 28% repub and 32 % independant with a + 4 for obama….lulz.
Tell me when the Independant party outnumbered the Republican Party?
Where was the Independant Party Convention Coverage?
There is much room for intellectual dishonesty in pols or surveys.
Jeremiah,
I think that grassroots will have to lead the charge for an Indy Party to happen. That makes me more furious when I see the mount of money the clowns (all politicians) use to get elected.
We need to fight to have independents included in debates and polls!
Indiana is not a battleground state. We haven’t went Democrat for President since 1964 and it won’t be this year either-McCain will win here. That’s one less state that is a toss up. That shows how unreliable polls are. I did take a Harris Poll this morning and said I was solid behind McCain.
http://www.pollingpoint.com/polls/
You can go to this site and do an Obama Mc Cain poll which asks a lot of questions about how you feel about the two candidates, your party, and who are voting for, as well as who you voted for in primary.
“So I think (Obama) definitely has convinced people that he stands for change and for hope, and I can’t wait to see what he stands for.” — Susan Sarandon
OMG - Idiotic statement there - but telling.
RCP is skewed to Obama… so this is amazingly good news.
bj — yes. These are states Obama should have been winning and there he is tied — which is not good because he will lose 6% according to the Bradley factor.
I wonder what Bill thinks of Obama’s plan????

Heather Mallick CBC Palin:Heather Mallick Sarah Palin Blast - Heather Mallick/CBC Palin drama is burning up the internet.Heather Mallick who is a reporter for CBC Canada, called Sarah Palin supporters “WHITE TRASH”.Heather Mallick wrote on her blog via CBC Canada website:
http://news.spreadit.org/thats-all-we-have-for-now-on-heather-mallick-cbc-palinheather-mallick-sarah-palin-blast/
she also compared Palin to a porn actress! Greta called her a pig twice. Go Greta Go!!
Greta,
I first saw this story as reported by Megyn Kelly earlier today. Let me make my comments in two parts.
First, the surprise at these comments is indicative of how ignorant the U.S. public and news media is about Canada, our people and our opinions. This is only surprising given that Canada is the single largest trading partner of the United States. Our cross-border trade is larger than with China or with any other country. For example, we are your largest foreign supplier of oil even though you likely think that is Saudi Arabia.
Secondly, if you spent more time learning about your closest and friendliest neighbor, you would realize that our most right wing Conservative government is to the left of anywhere that Barack Obama may take the U.S. You need to realize that the radical left has already taken Canada where Sen. Obama would like to take America.
Freedom of speech in Canada is now limited to those on the left. Conservative viewpoints on homosexuality, same sex marriage, discussion of radical Islam and other such things are regularly twarthed by our “Human Right Commissions” wherein the accuser is funded by the Government and the accused is required to expend time, energy and treasure to defend themself.
Your relationship with Canada is one of the most important that you have, yet you consistently ignore Canada like a lover who simply takes his partner for granted. You have not noticed that our country has moved in to that group of left wing, fascist, countries like many in Europe.
Don’t worry, you will be there soon after you elect the radical left this November.
Of course we have journalists like Heather Malek. What do you expect! Canadians have blithely buried their heads in the sand for 40 years now and elected representatives that are increasingly more left wing. As long as our Member of Parliament have promised us everything for nothing, we have been happy to have our rights, our morality and our culture obliterated in the name of multiculturalism.
You will be there soon and will understan better.
Michael Meehan
Invermere, BC
Tampa..Hello!
I heard today a caller Sirius Patriot radio predicting the end of right wing talk shows along with the Fox news channel if Obama is elected.
We will become just like Canada or more like the Soviets through the enforcement of the Fairness doctrine which will shut down any free speech which is not extreme left wing.
If Obama wins it’s the end of Americanism!!
I deal with many people in Canadian business and they think just like us and look at their country in disbelief as it has been taken over by the extreme left who have destroyed Canada’s identity through massive immigration by people unable to enter the United States.
These conservative patriotic Canadian’s are a minority and are unable to affect change. They even talk in whispers like they do in communist countries out of fear that the left could come after their businesses.
Oh the bitter irony. The far left crow about freedom of speech, but that only applies to them. Sentments that are remotely sectarian, patriotic, conservative, protectionist, ect. are silenced, the speaker ridiculed, taken to court, whatever. The wacko lefties are tyrannical. They try to scare people with Roe v. Wade. If Obama gets in the White House, appoints some wacko judges to legislate from the bench, we’ll look like Canada and Europe before you know it. Help!
You might rethink your neocon moniker. Neocons are half the reason we’re in this mess right now and need someone like McCain and Palin to repair the damage. That being said, the other half is the other side of that bad penny, Obama and his fellow travelers.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I’ll keep it. Got this snippet from Wikipedia:
Neoconservatism is a right-wing political philosophy that emerged in the United States from the rejection of the social liberalism, moral relativism, and New Left counterculture of the 1960s.
That all sounds good to me.
I suppose all I can say is that Pat Buchanan, a conservative, dislikes neocons as much as liberals.
Her moniker is a protest one, but your point is well taken in light of the “enlightened ones” that may misconstrue her intent.
I respect Kathy and her moniker!
Think we have problems now with the markets..
Just imagine if we had been hit again by terrorists in the past 7 years.
We have not been attacked. I recall beyond those that died that we lost a trillion dollars in one day.
As for Iraq..What a brilliant strategy!!
Alqueda is on the ropes, Iran is surrounded on two sides and the Russians are stopped in Georgia.
I think it’s great we are in Iraq and I’m glad to see the Stalinist Saddam go to the gallows.
The Iraqi people will be very rich and free as we continue to support them and protect the western worlds vital resources and against Islamic terrorism.
Ask Pat Buchanan about neocons. I don’t always agree with Pat but he is right on the money.
As for Iraq, I have too many relatives there to be objective about that war. We should have at least finished off Afghanistan first.
Afganistan is an excuse to get out of Iraq. The fact is that Afganistan has never been governed as it is the butt end of all the other countries in the area. With it’s primative infrastucture the best we can do is contain it and sweep out the terror camps every once in awhile.
Iraq on the other hand is a westernized civilization going back thousands of years with infrastucture enabling terrorists to manufacture weapons of mass destruction and harness oil revenues if given the chance to take over the government.
Thanks Seattle. Frankly being grilled about my screen name feels like something that would happen in an Obamabot forum–LOL. But to each his own.
History Will Judge
By Charles Krauthammer
WASHINGTON — For the last 150 years, most American war presidents — most notably Lincoln, Wilson, Roosevelt — have entered (or re-entered) office knowing war was looming. Not so George Bush. Not so the war on terror. The 9/11 attacks literally came out of the blue.
Indeed, the three presidential campaigns between the fall of the Berlin Wall and 9/11 were the most devoid of foreign policy debate of any in the 20th century. The commander-in-chief question that dominates our campaigns today was almost nowhere in evidence during our ’90s holiday from history.
When I asked President Bush during an interview Monday to reflect on this oddity, he cast himself back to early 2001, recalling what he expected his presidency would be about: education reform, tax cuts and military transformation from a Cold War structure to a more mobile force adapted to smaller-scale 21st-century conflict.
But a wartime president he became. And that is how history will both remember and judge him.
Getting a jump on history, many books have already judged him. The latest by Bob Woodward describes the commander in chief as unusually aloof and detached. A more favorably inclined biographer might have called it equanimity.
In the hour I spent with the president (devoted mostly to foreign policy), that equanimity was everywhere in evidence — not the resignation of a man in the twilight of his presidency but a sense of calm and confidence in eventual historical vindication.
It is precisely that quality that allowed him to order the surge in Iraq in the face of intense opposition from the political establishment (of both parties), the foreign policy establishment (led by the feckless Iraq Study Group), the military establishment (as chronicled by Woodward) and public opinion itself. The surge then effected the most dramatic change in the fortunes of an American war since the summer of 1864.
That kind of resolve requires internal fortitude. Some have argued that too much reliance on this internal compass is what got us into Iraq in the first place. But Bush was hardly alone in that decision. He had a majority of public opinion, the commentariat and Congress with him. In addition, history has not yet rendered its verdict on the Iraq War. We can say that it turned out to be longer and more costly than expected, surely. But the question remains as to whether the now-likely outcome — transforming a virulently aggressive enemy state in the heart of the Middle East into a strategic ally in the war on terror — was worth it. I suspect the ultimate answer will be far more favorable than it is today.
When I asked the president about his one unambiguous achievement, keeping us safe for seven years — about 6 1/2 years longer than anybody thought possible at the time of 9/11 — he was quick to credit both the soldiers keeping the enemy at bay abroad and the posse of law enforcement and intelligence officials hardening our defenses at home.
But he alluded also to some of the measures he had undertaken, including “listening in on the enemy” and “asking hardened killers about their plans.” The CIA has already told us that interr
