IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Former Hillary Clinton Advisor and Organizer Hold Conference Call to Endorse John McCain

palin.jpgToday, McCain-Palin 2008 released a partial transcript of a conference call held this afternoon with Miguel D. Lausell, Senior Political Advisor to Hillary Clinton, and Clinton Delegate-at- Large Luchy Secaira (Florida). Both Lausell and Secaira endorsed John McCain for president.

Here are excerpts from the conference call:

Luchy Secaira: “I was a very strong Hillary Clinton supporter because she had a set of principles, characteristics, and her stand on the issues along with a track record of fighting on behalf of families. That was very attractive to me.

“Well, we now know that the primaries are over. However, those qualities are not transferable. I do not believe that Senator Obama shares in those qualities. Therefore, my support and my vote is also non-transferable.

“I am supporting John McCain and Governor Palin because John McCain has spent his whole life standing up for his country. He has a record of fairness, compassion, responsibility, and giving back.

“Governor Palin is a woman of compassion and accomplishment in the mold of Senator Clinton. So I have chosen to put my country before my party and this is the ticket to support.

“They both care deeply about working families. They are reformers. They will go to Washington and they will remember who sent them there. So country before party, and that is why I’m supporting John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin. …

“And you know the Hispanic community knows John McCain. They know him. They know that he has a record. They know that has gone up against his own party on behalf of the Hispanic community.”

Miguel D. Lausell: “I decided, after searching my conscience, to back Senator McCain for many reasons. He is a man of great experience. He’s a sound man. He’s a man that you know what you’re getting when you vote for him.

“And the country is in very difficult situation and needs a man that can decide on difficult matters and has the experience and the soundness to help the struggle to get through these bad times.

“I cannot say the same about Senator Obama. We don’t know what we’re getting when we vote for him. He doesn’t really have the experience.”

Both Secaira and Lausell were asked about Obama’s recent ad linking McCain to Limbaugh. Here is that ad:

Secaira and Lausell responded to the ad, this is what they had to say:

Secaira: “There goes the new politics. I don’t see anything new about put-down politics. And once again, I want to reiterate that the Hispanic community has nothing to fear because they know John McCain.

“Again, he has fought against his own party on behalf of the Hispanic community and was an integral part in trying to bring forth comprehensive immigration reform. The Hispanic community knows John McCain in his home state, in New Mexico. They know what John McCain plans for. And I don’t believe that they will be easily fooled by this misleading and disgraceful ad.”

Lausell: “It’s a very low blow on the part of the Obama campaign because it’s completely untrue and completely relates Senator McCain to something he’s not related to.

“It denies, basically, the basic premise of all of his actions. And, frankly, if you have a candidate that is willing to go so low, what can you expect if you elect him to office?”

Towards the end of the call both had this to offer, Obama is the great divider, not the great uniter.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. This video is put together VERY VERY WELL.

This video includes another video that was posted
by a blogger named Marie here at NQ. I forgot to copy that link and I forgot which article she posted that link on. I frantically searched for that C Span clip but could not locate it.The producer of this great video included that C SPAN portion. Very important…

I LOVE IT!!!

This is OUTSTANDING…absolutely outstanding.

It has the clips, the facts, snapshots of the credible sources for this video, great tune, and it encourages viewers to google for themselves to verify everything.AND….the video instructs viewers to pass on the link.

I will crosspost link immediately.
I will also add very short comment as follows:
*******************************************
PLEASE view this video. It contains facts, sources and proof about Sen Obama and Sen McCain’s roles in this mortgage crisis.

Sen Obama knowingly nurtured the growth of the crisis (see how) and Sen McCain saw crisis coming and desperately tried to prevent it. PLEASE learn the truth…there is too much at stake in this election.See how his attempts were derailed.See who derailed his efforts.

The Mainstream media (msm)REFUSES to connect the dots. The MSM refuses to put this out there for public enlightenment and discourse.

Dan,

I hope he does not get lynched by his audience. I used to be a regular at Slate, but it became a shill for Obama and it became intolerable for this Hillary supporter to post there.

That was a clear article on economic policies by looking into an actual record of a politician (gasp, McCain has a record to examine him with!). That was nice to see for a change.

Thanks for sharing.

The Obama campaign gambled that those in the Hispanic community didn’t have the common sense to spot a lie when they saw one. Guess he made a bad bet.

Comment by mimi | 2008-09-19 21:18:52

I’m going to say something, and I can because I’m AA. 0bama has no respect for AAs, and sadly those who voted for him without demanding he address the issues facing the AA community as well as investigate his background and demand answers about his relationship with the slumlord Rezko, how he let AAs in his own district suffer without heat, hot water in a rat-infested environment, have given him reason to disrespect us. Of course, I can’t prove this, but I believe he thinks we’re stupid.

So he looks down on AAs and by extension, he thinks he can get away with doing the same with the latino community. After all, who are they?

Not so fast!

I could have told him that the latino community is no pushover. Oh, he may have support among the left wing radicals/intellectuals who see themselves as revolucionarios chanting la luta continua. But for the hard-working latinos, 0bama is not going to get away with flat-out lies and disrespect. He has the same problem with them that he has with white blue collar workers who he calls bitter. I can imagine the words he uses to describe this group.

When 0bama stood up the Hispanic Women’s Caucus after the Primary, after telling the African American Women’s Caucus: “Hillary lost! Get over it!” I knew then that 0bama was his own worst enemy.

Everybody, except his collection of knucklehead supporters, sees the same thing with this guy: someone who sees himself as better than everyone else. And I mean EVERYONE!

Comment by an observer | 2008-09-19 21:35:27

Go mimi, I am not AA but I’m not blind.
Obama is not AA as understood in the United States.
He had to go to Chicago to learn to be US AA.
Considering the privilege of going to the most exclusive private school in Hawaii 5th grade through High School and then Occidental and then Columbia and then Harvard, I’d say he has had more advantage than the over whelming majority of us white red necks.
No, the AA community will learn shortly that a hot air balloon, even with lipstick, is still a hot air balloon.

All who endorsed Hillary really need to get off that bus and turn to McCain especially after reading stuff like this on the internet.

Penny Pritzker, Obama’s campaign finance chair, is the heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune. The Grand Hyatt in New York city is hosting an “interfaith dinner” with Iranian President Ahmadinejad Thursday night (September 25) when he comes for his annual UN propaganda tour.

Why in heavens name would Hillary Clinton or anyone for that matter want to be associated to Obama his finance chair and people in general that want to entertain this mad man that has nothing good to say about America?

People really need to wake up and take this election seriously or we are going to regret this crap in the long run, Obama has too many questionable associates for god sakes people wake up!!!

Comment by Carol | 2008-09-19 21:33:10

I heard this morning, I believe it was Rush Limbaugh. He looked into the matter and found that she had no idea the NY Hyatt had been reserved for this function. Apparently it was reserved by a Quaker and Menonite organization for this event.

Comment by mimi | 2008-09-19 21:55:29

I would like to know the name of these organizations and their missions.

Comment by SJ | 2008-09-20 00:20:29

I don’t care if she is saying she had no idea the fact is she does now and she is not stopping it, the Hyatt is not the only hotel in town is it?

If this was Bill Clinton or Hillary’s hotel am 1005 sure they could not come out and say oh I have no idea they were hosting this guy, I just own the place I don’t run it.

Bet that would not fly with the media or anyone for a matter of fact, all these people around Obama seems to have some funny thought about America, the war, terrorist, tyrant leader that love to insult our country.

I have a dam hard time understanding that and wonder why is this man running for President and why are Americans not asking about all this, so many unanswered questions where no one can really connect the dots, but yet look at the position he and his associates are in as they say a heartbeat from the Presidency but none is worried they are worried about a Governor from Alaska, and a man who will defend this country with his life….strange indeed is it not?

Dear friends,

Obama’s low blows have awakened a giant: after calling McCain a “liar” for telling the truth, and attacking the honor of one of the most honorable men in America, and associating McCain with one of his greatest conservative foes, Rush Limbaugh - now, Team McCain says everything in on the table.

EVERYTHING. http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/09/19/attack-by-association-viewed-as-fair-game-by-mccain-camp/

That includes W.A.R. (especially W-right…).

I have been waiting for long months for the gloves to come off, for the brass knuckles to be put on and for someone to finally deliver the beating that the obama campaign and the dnc so rightfully deserve.

It will be a thing of savage beauty.

Remember Tyson v. Spinks?

Comment by Dan | 2008-09-19 21:08:36

They were gonna come off anyway. But this way, the GOP can point to Obama’s camp and say “Hey, they started it.” In an election as close as this one, the GOP will use every bullet they’ve got before it’s done, including the MOAB … The “Whitey Tape.”

Is There a Link To it?

Comment by Jess Terr | 2008-09-19 20:52:16

FINALLY!
NObama may wish he didn’t crack that ACORN.

McCain advisers say that they see “attack by association” as fair game now, arguing that Obama’s campaign has been using that technique to go after McCain. In particular, the Obama campaign has hammered McCain on the stump and in TV ads on the number of one-time lobbyists working for his campaign. (The McCain campaign is also angry about a Spanish-language TV ad that ties McCain to Rush Limbaugh on immigration, without ever saying that McCain took on Limbaugh and others to fight for comprehensive immigration reform.)

“They played it one way, we played it another way,” said one of McCain’s top advisers, Mark Salter. “Now we’re both going to play it the same way.”

McCain began that effort this week by linking Obama to Democrats Jim Johnson and Franklin Raines, former executives at Fannie Mae. Johnson was named to head Obama’s vice presidential search before he stepped down amid controversy. Raines is a supporter of Obama (though evidently not an “adviser” as McCain charged at first).

McCain invoked their names while discussing the origins of the nation’s financial crisis.

“While Fannie Mae was betraying the public trust, somehow its former CEO had managed to gain my opponent’s trust to the point that Sen. Obama actually put him in charge of his vice presidential search,” McCain said at a rally in Blaine, Minn., this afternoon. He added that Johnson walked off with millions of dollars in compensation despite major problems at the institution.

“Let’s tell him to give it back!” McCain bellowed to the crowd, which replied with a chant: “Give it back! Give it back!” It was not exactly clear who Johnson is supposed to give the money back to.

Salter said to expect more of the same, saying the campaign was tired of “catching the spears.” Asked whether to expect attacks involved Wright, campaign spokesman Michael Goldfarb said: “We’ve seen all throughout the (Democratic) primary this guy has a lot of associations that are very problematic.”

In April, McCain said that he did not believe that Obama shared Wright’s controversial views and said he opposed an anti-Obama advertisement that invoked his name run by the North Carolina Republican party. But he also suggested that the subject was fair play after Obama said that questions about Wright were “a legitimate political issue.”

“If he believes that,” McCain said in April, “then it will probably be a political issue.”

NObama NO Way No How

I agree-
Sen McCain is being swiftboated again-but this time by Sen Obama.

Sen Mccain should bring up the Wright association…but…do so with great sensitivity & great care. This relationship serves as a hotbed for false accusations by Obama & team of RACISM.

Sen Obama is fighting in the gutter right now and he is trying to pull Sen McCain down into that gutter with him.

The gutter is Sen Obama’s home turf-it’s not McCain’s.

In my opinion, if a fight against Obama takes place in the gutter, Sen McCain will lose it.

McCain should bring up Wright relationship BUT do not fight the fight in the gutter.

Use TRUTH and FACTS- just like the way the Mortgage crisis situation was depicted in the following video that was shared with us by Matt (thanks again Matt!)

Even Obama admitted that Wright was fair game. Wright is a big part of Obama’s life and he praised the hell out of Wright for 20 years.

Normally, an unbiased media would have destroyed Obama over the Wright nexus. With a media doing nothing but infomericals for Obama it is up to McCain to take the bull by the horns.

The only station worth watching anymore is Fox, the rest are nothing but Obama infomercials. If people quit watching them then they can effectively fire them.

I’ve stopped watching TV almost totally. I watch Fox once in a while, but for the rest I read or do things around the house or watch my Netflix.

Couldn’t agree more, with what these two people had to say. Hillary has character. Obama, not so much. His roots are in Chicago thuggery, and he is exposing those roots more and more as the campaign goes on. Obama has been the most divisive candidate we have ever had, and that is saying a lot, since we have Bush. I do believe that Obama has surpassed Bush in that category. Only one way to go, McCain/Palin 08, and Hillary 2012. PUMA!!

Here’s looking at you, kid

From The Economist print edition

IF YOU find yourself believing that “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for”, or that “this is the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow” or even, tout court, that “yes we can”, the chances are that you are suffering from a severe case of Obamamania.

Tens of millions of Americans and an even larger number of Europeans have fallen victim to the syndrome, which involves a belief that a young black senator from Chicago can cure the world’s ills, in part because of his race, in part because of his obvious intelligence and rhetorical skill; but in no part because of any record of achievement in the past. Fortunately, an inexpensive remedy is at hand.

Dave Freddoso’s book is excellent on this subject. I think you can find MP3 files of recent interviews with him on WGN and you can hear him being berated by Obama supporters.

Hillary needs to get off the sickening party loyalty routine. She would be wise if she ignored Obama and let him run his childish campaign. By supporting Obama she is attaching herself to him. If Obama gets elected that will be the Democrat’s worst nightmare.

Comment by Maverick | 2008-09-20 13:30:27

She’s on a damned campaign bus going around stumping for him. It makes people on the trail confused.

Both Secaira and Lausell seems to be well-connected in the Hispanic community. Hope they have some influence on this election.

SJ

Great video!

Only constructive criticism I have is as follows:

Try to include recognizable, respectable sources in the video so readers know that the producer of the video is not making this stuff up. That is how Obama team can attack this video-

They will tell their supporters that its lies…all lies…

Helpful if supporters see snapshots of major publications or hear/see audio or video (c Span, or Pacifica, or Lou Dobbs etc…) where what is on the video was sourced from. Again, see the video link that Matt posted on this thread.

The video shows picture of publication page (with name of publication clearly visible) so that Obama supporters (and others) can follow up for details.

Remember- Sen Obama has been going after the MTV, VHS,college crowd kids. I do not mean to disparage the intelligence of these voters -these kids are VERY busy, very visually oriented. You must grab their attention QUICKLY and get your message out in the shortest amount of time. A picture can paint a thousand words in one second.

What is best way to reach them (and others) to get the truth out to them?

soon the A bomb will be dropped on the Obama operation (I no longer call it a campaign) .it will be dropped by Stanley Kurtz ’s expose’ of the annenberg files AYERS BOMB! a political ICBM is incoming and there is no ABM that can stop it!

Comment by iVet | 2008-09-19 22:50:32

I hope that the files haven’t already been purged. I have been trying to get Kurtz to look into the connection between Woods Fund money given to Allison Davis to rehab Grove Parc public/private housing and the route that the property has taken to end up with The Habitat Company which is owned by Valerie Jarett–isn’t that convenient. This property is also in the same area that the city wants to use for the Olympics in their 2016 bid. Is it any wonder that all the rehab efforts have failed and the people are being evicted. I am sure it was just that The Habitat Company, with all its exclusive properties that it manages, just didn’t have time to really put that free money to good use helping the people. But, at least those darn poor people will be out there so that the property value can go up after it is developed for the Olympics. Check it ou
