A Debt We Owe Through Blood
By Bud White on September 24, 2008 at 7:38 AM in Appalachia, Arrogance, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Courage, Democratic Party, Elitism, Hillary Clinton, Joe "Bro" Biden, McCain/Palin 2008, Out-of-touch with people, Patriotism, Race Card, Sarah Palin, Talking Points Memo, Universal Health Care, White Working Class, Whole Foods
Joe Biden caused quite a stir when he equated paying higher taxes with patriotism. Biden told ABC’s Kate Snow:
“We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people.” Snow asked: “Anybody making over $250,000…” Biden responded: “Is gonna pay more.” Snow: “Is going to pay more.” Biden: “You got it. It’s time to be patriotic, Kate. Time to jump in. Time to be part of the deal. Time to help get America out of the rut.”
Conservatives predictably went ballistic with their calls of “class warfare”; Obama’s fans thought it brilliant economics.
For those of us who are Democrats, or former Democrats, Joe Biden’s statement was offensive on a different level. Although many of us agree with progressive taxation, Biden’s formulation is deeply offensive. According to Biden, greater taxation equals greater patriotism. This concept fits perfectly with the self-congratulatory world of Whole Foods Nation. Anglachel describes Biden’s target audience as the new elites:
The focus of the [Obama] Democrats is on the winners of the economic realignment, those who managed to win a place in the white collar upper-middle class … [Obama] is the exemplar of a mode of life that, while not as unreachable as that of Bush’s base, is still out of reach of those who do not have the education, acculturation and business contacts to climb up that economic ladder.
Some will argue that Biden is simply practicing liberal class warfare; he is targeting the wealthy and not the “bitter” gun owners of greater Appalachia. I disagree. By using the framework of patriotism, Biden is challenging — to use Anglachel’s parlance — the “Bubbas” and the Archie Bunkers — to ownership of American patriotism.
Biden is telegraphing to Whole Foods Nation that it’s equally patriotic to live in Boulder, Colorado and pay on a 33% tax bracket income as it is to serve in Iraq, like Governor Palin’s son. Or, as a friend in this income bracket told me recently, she “sacrifices” by voting Democratic.
The primary campaign showed that Obama fared well with affluent voters and African Americans. Clinton crushed Obama with middle- and low-income voters. The Pennsylvania primary was a perfect example of Obama’s inability to connect with low-income voters:
The Pennsylvania Democratic primary shared many of the same vote characteristics of other primary states this season - with Clinton winning her core base of union members, less educated and lower income voters and rural voters, and Obama winning voters with more education and income, and black voters.
The attack on blue-collar voters by Obama is what precipitated the civil war now raging in the Democratic party, and Obama’s race-baiting of blue-collar whites has been one of the more depressing episodes in our history as a Party.
Low-income white Democrats are the least likely group to vote Republican, and the assault on this vulnerable group has all the markings of racial and class warfare used for electoral gain. African Americans are all too familiar with politicians playing on prejudices for electoral gain and there is nothing different in this case except for the color of the victims’ skin.
The dishwasher, the waitress at Denny’s, the auto mechanic, the grocery clerk, the nursing assistant, the soldier — all low income Americans — are equally patriotic to anyone living in San Francisco or Hyde Park or the East Village, regardless of the amount they pay in taxes.
I’ve been thinking about Biden’s notion of patriotism for several days. Last night I found a video which captures patriotism in a way still held by much of the country. It’s an old fashioned form of patriotism which is now considered uncouth and looked down upon by the liberal elites. But it’s a type of patriotism once honored by Democrats; it’s a part of what made Democrats the governing party for most of the first half of the last century.
The video is from Ken Burns’ brilliant 1990 documentary The Civil War. I think Sullivan Ballou’s love for his wife Sarah is only matched by his love of country.
Listen to Sullivan Ballou’s words carefully and think about everything he is sacrificing. You won’t hear politicians — except perhaps for John McCain — speak of our beloved country with such a degree selflessness and honor.
Sullivan Ballou wrote to his wife that he was “willing—perfectly willing—to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this Government.” Ballou’s patriotism is echoed by Sarah Palin’s willingness to give her child to the service of our country: “Today is the day that I send my first born, my son, my teenage son overseas…to fight for our country, for democracy for our freedoms.”
Whole Foods Nation hates Sarah Palin for the class she represents. She threatens the self-perception of their own moral superiority on race and their economic “sacrifices.” Giving her son to our nation is not enough to silence the voices of hate.
During the primary campaign, on TPM, billysumday suggested that Bill Clinton was a racist because of his bumpkin origins, totally ignoring that the President was educated at Georgetown, Yale, and Oxford:
Bill’s just a good ole boy from the south, and that’s why we love him. But he didn’t handle himself well in the early stage of this campaign and he knew exactly what he was doing when he mentioned Jesse Jackson and tried to marginalize Obama. Is Bill a racist? No. Did he inject race into the campaign? Yes, even if only inadvertently. I mean, we’ve all heard the clips of Bill’s brother using the n-word over and over again, and all the anecdotal evidence of Bill throwing the n bomb out there. Again, I don’t think Bill’s a racist. But I do think he grew up around a lot of racists, in a really racist state, and he’s been colored by that experience
According to the writer, Bill Clinton is a racist because he grew up surrounded by “Bubbas.” President Clinton is not a perfect man, but anybody who knows anything about Clinton knows that he does not have a racist bone in his body. But the writer is really expressing his own prejudices against low-income whites, particularly southern whites, and he is inferring racism because of Clinton’s humble origins.
Likewise, Joe Biden’s contention that greater taxation equals greater patriotism is the same worldview which reduces a person to their environment and their earnings. Biden’s fallacy becomes obvious if you play it in reverse: the less you pay in taxes equals reduced patriotism. It’s class warfare alright, but a war being fought top-down, against low-income whites, those who are perceived to be too “bitter” and too religious to contribute to the nation in a way valued by Whole Foods Nation. Hillary Clinton “and her supporters had to be turned into racists to avoid discussing the economics interests Obama did not deign to address.”
The “Archie Bunkers” have been deemed the enemy. You will find, therefore, that many of the policies advocated by WFN are inimical to the interests of blue-collar workers. It’s no accident, of course, that Obama mocked this group while he attended a gathering in San Francisco by calling them “bitter.” Evan Bayh, at the time, succinctly described the problem with Obama’s class-based attack:
I think you’re on dangerous ground when you morph that into suggesting that people’s cultural values, whether its religion or hunting and fishing or concerns about trade, are premised solely upon those of kind of anxieties and don’t have a legitimate foundation independent of them
WFN is not interested in improving the opportunities available for blue-collar Americans. They see their pickup trucks and snowmobiles as garish obstacles to an imagined utopia. According to Obama and Biden, it’s not about providing health care for the waitress who works at Denny’s or the mom who sends her son off to Iraq, it’s about getting a tax break for driving a Prius, because, as Joe Biden frames it, those who pay more are “sacrificing” more.

Now this is…..wait for it….”Change we can believe in”.

This will go down in history alongside the “Dewey Wins” Newspaper.
We can pay our higher Biden/Ohitler taxes with the Obama coins I presume?
Don’t buy them at an inflated price. They may be devalued soon.
Excellent anti-Obama TV ads

Memorable Animated Graphic Tag line on all ads:
“DEFEND FREEDOM [drumbeat] DEFEAT OBAMA”
- Another Lifelong Democrat Voting for McCain.
I’m a Republican in Obama’s supposed low income demographic.
My income is lower than that of the average black in America. How did that happen?
I know one thing for sure. I didn’t get a job from some low income person. I got one because people with money invested. I’d like to see lower taxes on the rich and more jobs.
I’d like to see more rich people attracted to America.
Bud, brilliant work as ususal. Thank you. Love the “Whole Foods Nation” line. Spot-on. A line I’m sure David Bobo Brooks would appreciate.
Also on the ‘Bill Clinton as racist’ nonsense, the clown at TPM might want to learn that Bill is an honorary member of the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame (not African-American Hall of Fame; it is named The Black Hall of Fame).
.
Brief video I made of Sarah Palin’s whirlwind day yesterday meeting with Hamid Karzai, Alvaro Uribe and Henry Kissinger. Also included is a brief comment on the absurd mainstream media’s pathetic attempt to dictate to both the McCain campaign and the American people how it will cover candidate’s conducting their affairs. The MSM blackened both of its eyes yesterday in a ridiculous display of ineptness and childishness. Fortunately, the McCain camp rolled with the temper tantrum and sated the baby’s whines and the adults took over the proceedings. The video is 1:40 in length:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDP0DFmQlRE
Paul, thanks for the video. Well done. I find it quite amusing that the msm are throwing a hissy fit over the fact that she wants her meetings to be somewhat private. They wanted her to pull a barry. Something tells me that she has a little more class and smarts to not play the celebrity president for a day.
SARAH PALIN did great, and I love every bit of. She told media to “screw Your self” it is my private meeting and “beg off”. Great Sarah, You dont need those hienas in Your face!!!
Hillary must show those munsters-media, that She wont put up with them, they absolutely responsible for destroying You chances to be President. It is time to tell media to”f …of”
Sarah show us all woman, how strong She and She dont owe nothing to anyone, when meeting is private. That is what “PRIVATE” means!
On Fox just now, Megan Kelly just destroyed an OB spokesman who tried to say the ad was a pack of lies. By the end of the interview he was babbling just like his arrogant candidate. Go Megan! She is one tough but fair interviewer and is always prepared with the facts. Great interview.
The NRA ad by the way. Sorry.
Thanks, Chris. Can’t wait for the video of this.
So far, I have liked all of the NRA ads. They are well done and interesting. To each his own… I guess.
Yes Megan, great job, get this guy of our faces to!!! We need someone who is honest and real, not some bouble child!!!
Obama’s Law:
The bad money drives out the good.
Can we counterfeit them with our own scrap metal or do they have a copyright protection?
Don’t buy at a higher price; they may be devalued soon.
The worst part is….They are made in England!!!
So much for protecting the American worker.
Birmingham is in Alabama.
No let them print it. I want a chance to throw it in the gutter, right where he took this election to. Right were he is willing for this country to go. I will never forgive this man for cheating us out of effective leadership. And i’m a woman i can hold a grudge. I can not for give the way he shamed my party or my race, or the way he tried to drag through the gutter my sex.
Save them. After Obama gets stomped in the GE and the Democratic Party asks for donations, we can send the Obama coins to them.
I ain’t giving those fools a dime of my money. Nevah!
Humor aside, this has to violate some fed regs, if it describes him as pres.
??
Who’s watching? The man seems to have carte blanche.
They were made in England, so don’t know if that would apply. Hey he is the ONE so him and his are above the law don’t you know?
AS I have said, B’ham is in Alabama.
I can call you the King of Siam–it doesn’t make it true.
It doesn’t violate any federal regs. It violates the laws of GOOD TASTE, though.
How much change? A nickel or a dime - oh wait, maybe a quarter?
Hopefully Harp:
Graeme Souness, Trevor Francis, Kevin Keegan, and Kenny Dalglish, will have some coins made too.
They all passed thru Birmingham one time or another.
Obama probably could not locate the city with an operative GPS.
Hilarious link there.
He probably thinks they are talking about the city in Alabama. No wait, that’s one of those states with gun-totin’, God-fearing non-elites; Obama probably doesn’t know it exists either.
It is in Alabama, not England.
The coin will be used to answer the Patriotic question for all Democrats.
Of whom is the image shown in the coin?
The pay taxes to the Cesar Obama Messiah and be a patriot. And give him to your adoration.
saw it and was absolutely disgusted
I don’t attribute that much thought to Biden. I think there are simply multiple themes that the Obama campaign wants to turn into sound bytes whenever they can. And if you can combine two all the better. Tax the rich is one. “We are patriotic” is another.
We should be aware of the real tax goal of the far left. It is to get to the point where a minority of Americans pay any tax at all. Group A has more votes and can seize the money of group B at will. That’ll work well.
I don’t understand how paying taxes is patriotic when our nation was founded on a tax revolt.
To the extent that a portion of the taxes we pay is allocated to the military, then I can see it. But I don’t think Biden had the military in mind when he made his remark.
Big difference between paying the taxes you owe and being told that if you do not support a plan for higher taxes yet, you are unpatriotic.

I completely disagree that the income of people who have worked hard and made many sacrifices to get the education to earn a good living should then subsidize people who think education is stupid and someone should hand them whatever they want or we should pay to subsidize people who have entered the country illegally. Democrats have shown in the past that they are totally irresponsible with public funds, just as the current occupant.
If the government is going to take people’s money they need to first establish means of accountability and transparency. Also I believe it’s way different to take money from people who are scamming the public (like corporations and televangelists) to make millions that to take money away from people who really do 9-5 it everyday to become secure.
Also, the government needs to sincerely look at all the programs and arms of the federal government that are swallowing our public funds with no benefit to the people at large, like the farm subsidies and similar programs. I’m sure there are tons of federal offices that could be dispensed with if the government would be serious about running an efficient economy.
Then Bush and Cheney should go to jail for the great Ponzi Scheme that is Iraq and their personal fortunes of ill-gotten gain should be pumped into the federal treasury.
maybe changing subject, but all subjects lately are connected. Young people who naively are supporting Obama do not take their time, ant think about what they parents think about how illigicat they are. Their parents put every poosible penny to their future; scholls, and most of all;food, doctors, cloding etc, and they dont understand that. when they(young people) become parents, it will be even worse, they will have much less of above, WHY,??? because they are supporting someone, who will screw them up. Obama will never deliver his PROMISES from Primaries, because He is now even discusing them, it is history, those promises are gone. Obama promiase has”face lift ” 3 times, now, if He win, will be “face lift”#4. Obamas clan is loaded with corrupted -thiefs CEO, current, or ex, from all those corrupted Loans companies, how in the hell You thing He will help You, when You are only here to give Your vote, and get nothing good in return.
Well, Youngsters, You will cry someday for Your blindnes , naivnes and lack of any common sense…
If you saw the intelligence I have seen. You would be making a different complaint. You would wonder why we waited so long.
The mistake the President made was allowing DOS instead of DOD to run the aftermath. Jay Garner would have been better that Jerry Bremer had he been allowed to stay. People were too impatient.
Yes, that would work if they remove the Constitution.
Many people forget that America was founded as a Republic. America is a Democratic country, but founded on a Republic. This was done to insure that the majority does not take away the rights of a single person. Our Pledge to the flag says “and to the Republic, for which it stands…..
One reason that the Democrats currently in Congress want to get rid of the Electoral College. It would allow states such as California to dominate the election process.
The study of history will show you the correct path to the future.
Better do a deeper study of history yourself. The Pledge of Allegiance was written in the 1950s during the McCarthy era. We hadn’t been a bona fide republic for 120 years–Jackson ushered in Universal Manhood Sufferage.
SORRY, BUT I HAVE TO JUMP ALL OVER THIS ASSERTION.
‘The Pledge’ was written in the Nineteenth Century:
“I Pledge Allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
The CHANGES to ‘the Pledge’ were introduced during McCarthyism…
And Yes - We ARE a Republic, albeit a Democratic nne…
Even more interesting, the Pledge was written by a Socialist* who intended its recitation to be accompanied by a special salute (think of the Nazi salute–the Pledge salute predated it by more than 30 years).
*The author of the Pledge was a very religious Socialist–his view of Socialism was more in line with the form that would rise to power in the Scandinavian countries rather than the more ardent form that rose in Russia (IOW, a non-Marxist Socialism).
I think you read way too much into Biden’s statement.
After all, Republicans have used patiotism as a political weapon ever since forever. They think nothing of badmouthing fellow Americans who have the temerity to disagree with their disastrous policies.
Now the Democrats are using the same weapon— pay up or you’re not a patriot. I think there’s a lot of truth in the idea. And it’s fun to see the Republicans’ weapons used against them.
This shows how little you know about patriotism. Those who undermine our troops in combat are decidedly unpatriotic. I think team Obama seeks to dilute the word by calling everything patriotic. The fact is voting for Obama is patriotic and if you don’t vote for him you are not only racist but unpatriotic too. Is that it?
As Samuel Johnson said, “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” Obama is most certainly a scoundrel.
But Republicans have been scoundrels for years. They’re the ones who lied us into war. They’re the ones who didn’t proivde body armor. They’re the ones who let our troops lie around in otheir own urine. I think most Republicans are traitors posing as patriots.

The US changed the war strategy because of the liberal media and the democrats. They were on the offensive using the “shock and awe” strategy. Democrats and the liberal media protested because of collateral damage where some people were being killed.
The strategy went from being offensive to defensive. You don’t win wars on defense. Because of this change, hundreds of thousand people were killed.
Nothing changed until the US went back on offense with the surge.
The democrats used this to try and win the 2004 election. Killing people to get elected.
This year the democrats are using the economy to win the election. The housing crisis is the cause and the democrats control both Fannie and Freddie. I’ve been telling people since 2005 that was how the democrats were going to win, and I am a union democrat. The party has become too liberal. They don’t care about the people, only the elite.
Amusing comment.
I learn something every day.
Crawl back into your bubble now.
Had Hillary become the nominee, the Democrats would have definitely been on their way to taking back the White House in November.
It’s not going to happen now.
Not even the bad economy will save them.
Many voters are still hung up on the Democrat “brand” being associated with good economies. Which is why the MSM is manipulating the economic crisis to try to help Obama. That “brand,” however, only works now with the Clintons in power. Those same voters know that Obama lacks the experience, skills and the will to fix the broken economy. Add to the picture Sarah Palin, who is the only person in the race this year with actual experience running a government & balancing budgets.
These factors (and more) will spell a disastrous loss for the Democrats on Election Day.
I keep waiting for McCain to remind voters that the Democrats have had the majority in Congress since 2006 and have done less than nothing to solve the economic problems of the country.
McCain isn’t STUPID, that’s why he won’t do that.
A razor thin majority that does nothing more but allow a party to set the agenda and choose the committee chairs is not a “working” majority.
The only real majority is one that is veto-proof, or close enough to it that you can con members of the minority to vote with you on a reasonably regular basis.
McCain would have his ass handed to him if he tried that tack, and McCain isn’t stupid, which is why you’re not going to hear him harping along those lines.
Even with a razor thin majority, the Democrats could have introduced legislation. They couldn’t even do that. I firmly believe that McCain would not “have his ass handed to him” if he pointed this fact out. I hope he does not intend to use the “high road” politics of Gore and Kerry. Look where it got them!
YES, and it wont be pretty.
Operah is the anemy to great America. For Opera;Obama,Party,Money , Her eagle are firstThey deserve each other.Great couple!!!
Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.
Sir Winston Churchill, Hansard, 1947
Democrats imitating the worst of Republicans is considered the “sincerest form of flattery”, also. So it doesn’t matter that Obama is a scoundrel admiring the Reagan ideology rather than the ideology of the best of Democrats?
Republican scoundrels didn’t nominate Soertoro/Obama instead of Senator Clinton. And like it or not, the only choices we have are to vote for Soertoro/Obama, John McCain or vote for a 3rd party that will surely put one of the above in Our White House.
I happened to believe that more than 20 years as a military officer does not make John McCain unpatriotic. And I happen to believe that not knowing whether Soertoro/Obama ever took Indonesian citizenship and traveled on an Indonesian passport does not a patriot make.
No question Bush is not a patriot but then we aren’t voting for Mr. Bush this time either. This is not a coin toss here, we need to look at experience and accomplishments, not political party membership, because to be patriotic we have to vote for the candidate that best represents We the People and it isn’t International Symbol Soertoro/Obama.
With you. And if government derives its legitimacy from the governed, then the head of that government owes his/her allegiance to the people of that nation. This idea of a “citizen of the world” for head of our government is distinctly unpatriotic.
What Rapp wrote is ridiculous!
I’ve with you all the way, Perry.
Perry, that is not wholly true…
While some people who wear the ‘Republican’ title have done this, to insinuate that ALL ‘Republicans’ are culpable is just plain WRONG. Some ‘Democrats’ are culpable, too.
Historically speaking, you should be impressed by the accomplishments of the Republican Party.
I say this as a once lifelong Democrat - now Independent…
Biden is just picking up a meme from Wes Clark’s 2004 tax plan.
I don’t remember all the details, but at the bottom end Wes wanted families making less than $50,000/year to pay no income taxes at all, and he wanted to roll back the Bush tax cuts on the top 1%, asking them to do their “patriotic duty” and make sacrifices for the common good.
Money equals patriotism?
Are we reverting to decades past when the affluent bought a “peon” to replace their own sons in the bloody wars?
While we are regressing morally, will our enemies be much different than us in the long term?
Of course, the notion of income tax being patriotic is absurd seeing as how the Founding Fathers did not believe in income tax and it wasn’t legal until Woodrow Wilson’s administration. All a reaction to the Robber Barons who built their means of production with public funds, then never gave anything back to the public and did not have to pay income tax. But that was all the fault of the federal government for handing these people money and property without a contract that specified they would have to pay back what they got from the public. Now Bernanke is trying to pull a very similar scam.
Robber Barons gave nothing back?
1. Railroads - cheap transportation
2. The Electrical grid
3. Telephone infrastructure
4. Oil infrastructure
5. Steel Production
It seems to me we got a lot back.
They did damned well for themselves, and took, like many CEOs still do nowadays, OBSCENE compensation for their efforts.
Much of the electrical grid wasn’t built by robber barons, it was built by the US government and state and local municipalities. TVA, anyone? Hoover Dam?
In fact, in the age before deregulation, the government had a hand, and a say, in a number of societally-critical public utilities and services, from MA BELL to the airlines. Were things “better” then? Hard to say….I can remember when the phone ALWAYS worked, your local bill was TINY, but you paid through the nose (to the point of GASPING) to call long distance anywhere–you didn’t call if you could write. Then again, you also didn’t have portable phones or phones you could take a picture with, either.
I can remember paying more for plane tickets thirty or forty years ago to a destination than I would pay for the same travel to the same destination now. Of course, the planes back then were maintained in the US, and the work was checked and rechecked, while nowadays the planes are flown to Singapore or elsewhere for repair and if someone fucks up, the accountability is a bit less onerous.
I don’t think we should be “grateful” to those characters running these societally vital industries for making outrageous profits. Even their altruistic efforts–the odd bullshit charities they set up to make themselves seem like nice guys– are a small, thin slice of their profit pie.
There are trade-offs involved in the whole process of deregulation, people who run the industries make money, sometimes savings are passed on to consumers as a result of competition (and sometimes NOT), sometimes service isn’t quite as reliable, either; it’s just a pity that the profit-takers weren’t constrained at least slightly in the process. But unfortunately, regardless of whether the “business” is selling mortages or internet access or cable/satellite TV, where there’s a will to skim money off the top and profit-take like mad, there’s always a way.
We pay enough taxes on everything - gas, food eaten out, that cup of coffee in the morning and on and on.
Just a side note - I am really tired or realclearpolitics distorting the polls to make Ohblowme’s numbers look better - every time Ohblowme is down they put some bullshit poll no one has ever heard of to make O’s average higher. Has anyone else noticed this trend ? It seems to me they are trying to suppress the vote for McCain just as they did with Hillary.
God help us if this clown gets elected.
Yes, I worry about this too. I’m afraid the media is determined to publicize numbers that make Obama look viable so when he steals the election it won’t be that noticeable. Bush III?
I’m sick of it too.
The pollsters pulled the same crap during the primary. Had Hillary losing virtually EVERY state to Obama - hoping to discourage her voters from going to the polls. They got their faces crushed continuously though, as she went on to win the popular vote. Which is why the DNC resorted to cheating & stealing to get Obama the nomination.
Ironically though, these poll manipulation tactics will help McCain. Because McCain supporters will not get comfortable with the polls & stay home on Election Day. They’ll turn out in droves for him - just like Hillary supporters did during the primary.
I know this is off topic but I am worried by today’s Wash Post poll that has O up 9 points. I know there is plenty of time for the momentum to shift but I am still concerned. Thoughts? (PS - I am not a troll. I do not want Obama to win, I just want to discuss what others think of the poll and if there is any recovery for McCain)
It is propaganda to suppress McCain Voters - they deliberately stilt the numbers to show this clown leading so people will stay home - they always had Hillary’s numbers way down in the primaries too.
Don’t be.
I posted this above:
I worry more about voter fraud by the likes of ACORN and other Obama front groups. Also, if Obama is doing so well, why does he keep abandoning states? Is the 50 or 57-state strategy not working? I also believe that the only reason he opened an office in Arkansas is just to poke the Clintons in the eye one more time. I’m not even sure God could or would want to help us if Obama gets his hands on the power of the Presidency.
If it isn’t close they can’t cheat (enough).
That’s why I’m hoping McCain slaughters Obama in the GE. Then maybe that would mean the end of Dean, Brazile, Pelosi, Reid, et al., too.
I don’t attribute that much thought to Biden. I would agree with this for the most part, but your article is very stirring, Bud.
STANLEY KURTZ: Barack Obama’s most important executive experience is radical. “Obama’s Challenge”

Btw this is funny
“If you’re lucky enough to be elected president”
Lauer goes “tough” on Obama
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ufYoo5zWQc
That whole interview seemed scripted to me…
Obama has been working hard on being aggressive in his answers and appearing tough. I predict we will see a more forceful Obama at the debates, he is rehearsing his lines, postures, tone, everything.
He seems more Hitler-like by the day. That forcefulness is a major compensation tactic for something lacking… Like passionately caring about common Americans and issues that affect us. This transformation is about Obama winning, nothing more.
Notice Obama’s laughter when Lauer suggested he might not be elected. That smarmy look that says “You know it’s all arranged, stop making silly jokes.”
I couldn’t even watch the whole thing!
I wisht he dems could understand that they have no chance of winning the votes or bamboozling people who they can’t get to stomach listenting to the loser!
I think that patriotic Americans should really rethink our devotion to and support of Liberal Hollywood. Celebrities are not role models that should be dictating to the public who to vote for. Now Hollywood is releasing a movie “W” just before the election. My family has decided to boycott the entertainment industry and I would love to see main street Americans do the same. How dare Larry King give Ahmadinejad airtime! What is CNN thinking. So he goes back to Iran unscathed and seemingly revered by the US media and he is seen as somekind of superhero to the Iranians. WTF ???? take these effers OFF THE AIR by boycotting the stations and sponsors.
chandler, I inderstand where you are coming from. But I must disagree nevertheless. In a free democratic society everyone has a right to be heard, even Ahmadinejad. Anything other than that is pure censorship and unconstitutional.
Too bad no one would give a voice to Hillary, and now almost none for McCain/Palin. All Obama, all of the time.
