The Man Who Never Was [Corrected]

Tony Blankley writes a blistering critique today of the media’s failure to investigate and report the news seriously or fairly. He aptly labels Barack Obama The Man Who Never Was, claiming the real Obama is nothing like the caricature painted by the media. A media is accuses of being “straight-out propagandists for the Obama campaign….[where] for the first time, the major media consciously are covering for one candidate for president and consciously are knifing the other. This is no longer journalism; it is simply propaganda.”

And as a result, we are less than seven weeks away from possibly electing a president who has not been thoroughly or even halfway honestly presented to the country by our watchdogs — the press. The image of Obama that the press has presented to the public is not a fair approximation of the real man. They consciously have ignored whole years of his life and have shown a lack of curiosity about such gaps, which bespeaks a lack of journalistic instinct.

Thus, the public image of Obama is of a “man who never was”:

The mainstream media ruthlessly and endlessly repeat any McCain gaffes while ignoring Obama gaffes. You have to go to weird little Web sites to see all the stammering and stuttering that Obama needs before getting out a sentence fragment or two. But all you see on the networks is an eventually clear sentence from Obama. You don’t see Obama’s ludicrous gaffe that Iran is a tiny country and no threat to us. Nor his 57 American states gaffe. Nor his forgetting, if he ever knew, that Russia has a veto in the U.N. Nor his whining and puerile “come on” when he is being challenged. This is the kind of editing one would expect from Goebbels’ disciples, not Cronkite’s.

What about Obama’s 20 year relationship with terrorist William Ayers?

But worse than all the unfair and distorted reporting and image projecting are the shocking gaps in Obama’s life that are not reported at all. The major media simply have not reported on Obama’s two years at New York’s Columbia University, where, among other things, he lived a mere quarter-mile from former terrorist Bill Ayers. Later, they both ended up as neighbors and associates in Chicago. Obama denies more than a passing relationship with Ayers. Should the media be curious?

And Obama’s rise in Chicago politics? Blankley notes the lack of media attention that leaves unanswered questions:

How did honest Obama rise in the famously sordid Chicago political machine with the full support of Boss Daley? Despite the great — and unflattering — details on Obama’s Chicago years presented in David Freddoso’s new book on Obama, the mainstream media continue to ignore both the facts and the book. It took a British publication, The Economist, to give Freddoso’s book a review with fair comment.

“The media can no longer be trusted to provide accurate and fair campaign reporting and analysis,” Blankly quotes from Stuart Taylor. Blankley observes:

The public image of Obama as an idealistic, post-race, post-partisan, well-spoken and honest young man with the wisdom and courage befitting a great national leader is a confection spun by a willing conspiracy of Obama, his publicist (David Axelrod) and most of the senior editors, producers and reporters of the national media.

Blankley concludes that “One can only hope that the senior journalists will be judged as harshly for their professional misconduct as Wall Street’s leaders currently are for their failings.”

I personally have my doubts that the Wall Street will be held accountable for its failings any more than the media will be for its biases, lies, and omissions about Barack Obama. Worse, while Wall Street costs are in dollars, should Obama win the cost will instead be measured in the lives of our fellow citizens and future of our country.

Here is something positive. I sent this article from McCain website to the Drudge and told him since the New York Times wasn’t writing article with fair and balanced journalistic criteria then he should be posting articles that do list facts even though they don’t come from major news papers.

Here is the article http://www.johnmccain.com/mccainreport/Read.aspx?guid=74063c9d-7cb5-47c9-acf6-53c0c2d88376

And the Drudge now has it posted just under the false story from the NYTimes.

Yeah!

Denise, Matthew

First off-Matthew-EXCELLENT post, excellent link. T H A N K Y O U!

Denise-about Drudge Report-

That’s a GREAT start.
The article the Drudge Report links to is :

International Herald Tribune-
Global Edition of the NYTimes.

http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/09/24/america/w24davis.php

Read the headline:
McCain aide’s firm was paid by Freddie Mac
By Jackie Calmes and David D. Kirkpatrick Published: September 24, 2008

Its when you get all the way to the bottom of the I H T article does the reader learn that McCain is refuting the innuendo of the accusations as published in the NEW YORK TIMES.

I dont have stats but I will guess that more US voters read the NY Times than they read The International Herald Tribune.

Kudis to Drudge for publishing the IHT article (and kudos to you for bringing issue to Drudge’s attention!). I wish more domestic news organizations would do the same.

If the mass media wont do its job then its up to the independent journalists and the independent media to step up and assume the role of the fourth player in the US system of checks and balances:

The Federal, legislative, executive branches AND…AND the Media which the founders of our country knew was necessary. The media is known as the Fourth Estate. The media is supposed to be a watchdog to protect our republic and our democracy.

The Mass Media HAS FAILED US because it has been bought up by the corporations, and the propagandist right AND left wing extremist organizations-organizations that masquerade as philanthropic organizations.

It is up to the citizens, and the independent journalists to get the truth out.

Perhaps as citizens, this may be the greatest contribution to our society that we can make in our life time-and that is - TO GET THE TRUTH OUT during this one election cycle-if not all future election cycles too.

There is too much at stake.

I speak as a former life long Democrat who has had a very very rude awakening during this election cycle. I saw my party doing things that I NEVER imagined MY party would ever do-these activities bordered on fascist acts.

It is one type of ’sting’ when a group that you have disagreed with on principle does things that you view as wrong or unethical.

The cut is much deeper when its your own party that is doing this-a party that you believed in your entire life…a party that your parents believed in their entire lives.

A party that you supported and worked for since the day you were eligible to vote.

The Dmocratic party has left me, and in my eyes the mass media has forfeited its role as being a member of the highly-esteemed Fourth Estate.

And…many of today’s msm reporters have no right to call themselves journalists.

I believe that people who try to pass themselves off as journalists need to be kept in check. Just like doctors or certified Financial Planners need to go through licensing exams…so should people who call themselves journalists.

I’ve been thinking the GOP could flip this absurd racism nonsense on its ass and show the world who the actual racists are: the ones making the false accusations. I don’t know if it is wise to let Ohitler and Axelgoebbles get away with this unchallenged.

It pains me to be labeled a racist when in my life I have voted for black politicians when I felt they were qualified. The false charge of racism against the Clinton’s is what permanently turned me away from Ohitler and on November 4 I will vote straight GOP to send a clear message to the DNC the racism, sexism, misogyny and homophobia they have condoned is not acceptable. I have never voted for s single Republican in my entire life. I think there are millions of other Democrats who feel as I do and will act accordingly.

You are nuts and an operative. No one can be that stupid in their post.

And using the Hitler garbage is just childish and unwarranted, and puerile.

The DNC ( since the sixties hah!) has never condoned and never will condone racism, etc…

This is why this poster is a plant.

You have to learn how to spot them - preposterous posts, and labeled with visions of hitler, etc.., and especially when they have the need to resort to mis-spellings of the candidates names, etc…

Comment by Matthew Weaver | 2008-09-24 12:50:54

I agree insofar has I find many anonymous names that play on Hitler, the KKK, and so forth as unnecessarily inflamatory and not conducive to respectable conversation. I probably inflame folks with references to the “Dear Leader” or “nutroots gangs” but this is well short of invoking Hitler and the KKK.

Comment by Chockablock "Hillawee can you change my diapy pwease?" Opampers | 2008-09-24 12:54:41

You can disagree with me but the last troll who called me nuts (I think he used the word “deranged”) for expressing my views had their comments removed. As far as the Hitler comparison goes it is valid to many of us here.

As far as being an operative that is not true. One should be careful about casing stones when they dwell in a glass house. ;)

By the way I did not ask for the trolls comments to be removed.

If you don’t like what I have to say ignore me.

Comment by Hanna | 2008-09-24 13:33:53

I agree with your comparison to Hitler. The media blackout and message control are completely in line with the early Hitler days. And that’s not all. It’s creepy and upsetting.

Comment by Astra14 | 2008-09-24 13:50:56

You say this and then expect to be taken seriously here? That statement belies logic and the acquired wisdom of the blog. Technically you could say the DNC does not condone racism etc. except in practice with a wink and a nod they absolutely do condone it. And what they do in practice is what matters. Phil…

You say that the DNC does not condone racism…

In general, in the past, I would have agreed with that statement however…

Sen Obama hired David Axelrod to manage his campaign.

How well do you know what Axelrod does?

The strategy of the Obama campaign has been to put a wedge between the races to spearate them and get them fighting with each other in this campaign so that Sen obama can collect the angry black votes and the sympathetic white votes. Read below to see how they did this…

Maybe the DNC had no idea about how Axelrod & Obama (aka a world class campaigner) operate?
Ok…I’ll give you that.

This is excellent site too…

Are you comfortable with how the DNC conducted the democratic primary?

If you are, then…I will find it hard to believe that you think that the DNC had NO CLUE as to how Sen Obama and Axelrod would use racism to help Sen Obama ATTEMPT to ‘WIN/STEAL the presidency..

Comment by USA4EVER | 2008-09-26 07:56:06

Phil Murphy:

You need to be enlightened about who you have chosen to lead this country.

If you are putting your faith on the DNC, I am sorry for you. I have always voted Democrat but I have seen enough in this campaign that I can not, with a clear conscience, condone Obama’s and his surrogate’s intention for this country.

I suggest that you read Obama’s book, “Dreams for My Father”. But prepare to be shocked. In Obama’s own words, you will understand why he nurtures animosity towards his mother’s race.

He met Frank Marshall Davis through his white grandfather when he returned to Hawaii from Indonesia when he was in 5th grade. Stanley Dunham, his “gramps” proudly walked Barry to school. Frank became Barry’s mentor and gradually Frank turned a normal multi-racial Barry to the black Barack that we know now. You can also do some research on who Frank Marshall Davis is. Although he denied it to his death in 1987, Frank was known to be a member of the Communisty Party USA. The membership of Communist Party USA was not of people with communistic ideologies but active commnunist with allegiance to Russia. Frank taught him to hate the white race “…your grandmother is afraid of black people because she understand that the black people have the right to hate the white race.

His decision to come to Chicago to start his politcal career here was part of the entire scheme. His choice to join the Trinity Church was not a coincidence. Rev Wright is a black supremacist like Frank.

A good resource is the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times. But a treasury of his political profile/ideologies is his own book, Dreams from My Father”.

Thanks Matthew. It is a wonder that article was ever posted. We need to share this with everyone we know.

I feel strongly that the day the media selects our POTUS is a day we give up our freedoms. The amount of media malpractice is staggering this year.

The mobs that support Obama overwhelm any media outlet that dares to criticize him. Do they not realize that they are trying to squelch free speech?

I found this video from the People’s Cube that has echoes of what some of us Hillary supporters endured in the primaries. This shows what McCain supporters marching through Manhattan’s Upper West Side encountered. The fact that this is a very liberal, pro-Obama location, I am sure they knew they would not be well received. This video clearly shows what many Hillary Democrats experienced at caucuses and conventions when dealing with “progressive” Obama supporters.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQalRPQ8stI&eurl=http://www.thepeoplescube.com/red/viewtopic.php?t=2375

You do not have to agree with what the right wing has to say about this, just watch the people and how they react to people with a different opinion, exercising their right to free speech and peaceful assembly.

Comment by Matthew Weaver | 2008-09-24 12:04:30

I can’t watch the video from my on-site work location today but this does remind me of how we exercise and are accountable for our freedoms. Here you talk of what should be pretty normal political campaigning that is being treated on par with neo-Nazis or KKK marching in a targeted communited or someone burning the flag to provoke response. It is a slippery slope. We should, in my opinion, be respectful of contrarian opinions so long as their sources are equally respectful and accountable for their words and actions.

Comment by Vince P | 2008-09-24 12:33:13

This video is the perfect example of why I laugh when Democrats and Leftists portray Republicans as being thugs, nasty, censors, threatening, intolerant, etc…

You would NEVER see a group of Republicans acting like this.

This is why I’m grateful that you folks on this blog are not like this. There is hope for our future we can work together and protect our families from the extremists of all stripes.

Comment by destardi | 2008-09-24 12:45:11

Careful there Vince…there are many people who before uhbama would claim “You would NEVER see Democrats acting like this”.

You know why that’s a ridiculous comment, either way?

Because it’s a statement of ABSOLUTES.

Sorry, but just because you’re a well-behaved Republican, doesn’t make every self-identified republican “well behaved”. Case in point, the 35 yo guy living in his grandma’s basement sending white powder as a threat, to “liberal loons”.

Republicans EQUAL Democrats.

Period.

As a case in point:
2004 - You’re only republican if you agree with me
2008 - You’re only a democrat if you agree with me

SAME AS IT EVER WAS

But you’re right, people with common sense have to come together and demand accountability.

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-09-24 13:52:04

No kidding. Ask Larry about how republicans never act that way. During the Plame Outing, he was constantly attacked by hateful rightwingers threatening violence, much like the leftie trolls now. And when I used to blog over at other liberal sites (before they went nuts) I used to get threatened all the time by republican trolls. The sexist crap was no different than we see now. That’s why when I went to my caucus and saw “democrats” acting like those troll rat bastards I got pissed. And when I heard the Obamabits using the same vile republican talking points against the Clintons, I knew something was terribly wrong with Barky. Either that, or he was some sort of Trojan Republican plant. Either way, this shit has got to stop.

Comment by Vince P | 2008-09-24 14:09:44

I shouldn’t have said Republicans never act like that. I’ve never been to Washington or other places like that .. I live in Chicago. I”m sure we’re a pacified breed over here.

I guess what I was reacting to was the belligerency of the crowd and how when I watch videos of college lectures, that when a speaker is conservative it seems to provoke the same sorts of folks to do the same sorts of tactics. Behavior which seems one-sided on-campus.

I should have spent more time thinking before typing.

There are many things on the People’s Cube that are funny and thought provoking, but I do not agree with many things posted there.

I am more moderate in my views, I used to think I was liberal… until people who describe themselves as liberal started behaving in closed minded, intolerant ways.

Anyway, truth is truth, and I thought that video I posted spoke to truth. I experienced this kind of treatment as a Hillary supporter and delegate at our Senate Convention.

Why does it seem that Obama supporters react so angrily when we present an opposing view or question his actions, past or associations?

So, I am past partisan politics, I will decide who to vote for based on the character and proven platform of a candidate (record of actions, please).

I relish being independent from party politics and will make my own decisions based on information from a variety of sources. The projection that the media has been using to prop up Obama and knock out McCain will usher in a new era for our country if Obama wins. That change Obama talks about? Free speech will be the first to change go, the writing is on the wall for that one.

Powerful…visually powerful.

Their (Obama supporters) behavior is fueled from the top of the Obama party all the way down.

Sen Obama forces himself to speak softly, calmly, carefully choosing his words so that he comes off as being one thing while he and his campaign have turned intelligent, passionate people into animals as they support the “calm, quiet, subdued, intellectual” leader that the media is trying to portray him as.

These guys (Obama, his campaign, and I suspect many in the DNC) dont give two hoots for the citizens…they (US citizens) are all pawns, Kleenex tissues that you throw away after you blow your nose.

No one knows about his drunk driving, no one pushed him on his coke use, and no one questioned for one second that it might be a bad idea to elect a guy whose gone bankrupt and driven his own oil company into the ground. The similarities between Barky and Bush are starking to freak me out. MSM sucks wind.

There are people out there who make a lot of money off of citizens fighting with each other-killing each other.

Read Naomi Kleins’ Latest book…

These people are focused on THE BIG PICTURE.

There are many people out there like George Soros…who operate under the same premise.

McCain will win big. October has not appeared yet. Wait for the surprise of the tapes. You thought Willie Horton was bad. Get a kick out of the Obamas acting a complete fool.

PUMA 2008!

I hope you are right. I am terrified after reading The Trojan Candidate and I find it to ring all to true. I would say that I don’t know how the American people can be so blind as to what they are getting into. But when you consider what the in-the-tank media is doing, it is no wonder.

While I am anxiously awaiting any tapes, and wouldn’t doubt the possibility of their existence for a second… I do wonder why no regular civilian has leaked them. I’m sure multiple copies must be out there. Also I wonder if they’d even make it on the news since obviously propagandists are in charge of the MSM now. Anyone who says otherwise is willfully, blindly or conveniently ignorant.

I have read a few articles about how Karl Rove organized Repubs to vote against Hillary, so if we end up getting Obama because of this, I will lay our destruction at his feet. However, if he did this and is the master ‘architect’ they say he is, then I would think he has some type of plan. Kind of sad I’m now banking on Karl Rove to save us from his own monster.

Comment by athy | 2008-09-24 15:07:53

Jules…
If Karl Rove did this (and I have no reason to doubt this) …do you think he was expecting that Sen McCain would be the Republican party’s nominee for presidential candidate?

I dont think so.

I am not saying that Karl Rove is not responsible (along with DNC, Obama, et al…)
but plans may not go the way he (Rove) may have hoped for since I dont think that he wanted McCain to be the Repub nominee.

McCain is too…what shall we say…
M O D E R A T E and independent for the neocons?

I am speculating here based upon what I have been seeing occur during the last 12 months…

Comment by Jules | 2008-09-24 16:29:04

I can’t imaging who he was hoping for/expecting. I just read this article called The Donna Brazile - Karl Rove Connection..I have linked. You may find it interesting.

http://www.thecityedition.com/Pages/Archive/Summer08/BrazileRoveConnect.html

The additional linked articles you will find at the bottom of the article are interesting too.

Rush Limbaugh has far more influence than Karl Rove, and for months he urged his listeners to sign up as Democrats and vote for Hillary, during the Indiana/Ohio/Pennsylvania timeframe.

I’m a political animal like you guys and for all that’s said about Rove, I never heard much from him until he resigned and went on Fox News Channel as an analyst. And I’m a Republican!

Comment by Jules | 2008-09-24 18:10:41

Hi Vicki, take a look at the link posted in my above post if you have time. I remember Limbaugh encouraging the same. He was open about it. However, it appears Rove was a behind the scenes guy, colluding with Donna Brazile of the DNC. I thought it was very interesting.

I don’t know about McCain “winning big”, but I also think he will win. And even if he wins by just one electoral vote, that’s more than good enough for me.

Comment by athy | 2008-09-24 15:16:46

Duras,
I am concerned about the electoral vote process. I posted the following in an earlier NQ thread.

Here is why I am concerned…

SHOUTOUT TO ANYONE WHO CAN RESPOND OR FORWARD TO SOMEONE ELSE WHO CAN PROVIDE ANSWER…

http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/09/21/us-campaign-reader-the-incredible-shrinking-obama/#comment-759603

How well do we know each state’s electors?

In USA, it is the ELECTORS who vote for the president of the USA-not the US voters.

Whether or not the race was tight-what’s to stop Sen Obama’s campaign people from ‘influencing’ these electors to vote for Sen Obama for president-even if the majority of the popular votes go to McCain?

Electors are supposed to vote according to popular vote however there is such a thing as an ‘Faithless Elector’ who can override the popular vote in his/her state and choose other candidate. It has happened in the past.

Just look at what happened in the Democratic primary in states where Sen Clinton won the popular vote but delegates endorsed Sen Obama instead.

Now you see why I am concerned?

If this occurs in presidential election this fall, for the sake of peace and not to hurt the reputation of the US, the country may allow faithless electors to choose candidate that was not his/her state’s popular choice.

“faithless elector is one who casts an electoral vote for someone other than whom they have pledged to elect, or who refuses to vote for any candidate. There are laws to punish faithless electors in 24 states.

In 1952, the constitutionality of state pledge laws was brought before the Supreme Court in Ray v. Blair, 343 U.S. 214 (1952). The Court ruled in favor of state laws requiring electors to pledge to vote for the winning candidate, as well as remove electors who refuse to pledge. As stated in the ruling, electors are acting as a functionary of the state, not the federal government. Therefore, states have the right to govern electors.

The constitutionality of state laws punishing electors for actually casting a faithless vote, rather than refusing to pledge, has never been decided by the Supreme Court. While many states may only punish a faithless elector after-the-fact, some such as Michigan specify that his or her vote shall be cancelled.”

This is an excerpt from wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Us_electoral_college

As electoral slates are typically chosen by the political party or the party’s presidential nominee,

ELECTORS USUALLY HAVE HIGH LOYALTY TO THE PARTY AND ITS CANDIDATE: A FAITHLESS ELECTOR RUNS A GREATER RISK OF PARTY CENSURE TAHN CRIMINAL CHARGES…

Remember in primary how Ted Kennedy endorsed Sen Obama even though Sen Clinton won popular vote in Mass? (This is just one of several examples)

He gave no explanation, no apology for his going against the popular vote of his state. If Kennedy can do this-and no one in the DNC raised a fuss- then if particular state goes to McCain-whats to stop a republican party elector ( who may have been blackmailed or bribed by Obama camp or others) from voting for Obama? Especially in states with large # of electoral votes?

Take this hypothetical situation.
For example, Texas has 34 electoral votes. The Republican party & the democratic party have each chosen 34 individuals representing their party-to serve as electors.

Since Texas is a winner take all state, lets say Sen McCain wins Texas popular vote. That means that all 34 republican electors-which have been pledged to Sen McCain, get to cast 1 vote each for SenMcCain because McCain won the state’s popular vote.

The 34 Democratic electors in Texas cast no vote because Republican candidate McCain won the state.

HOWEVER, legally, any of those 34 REPUBLICAN ELECTORS CAN-for whatever reason-convert to a ‘faithless elector’ AND can turn around and vote for Sen Obama instead.

So -if I am understanding this correctly, hypothetically , Texas electors could vote as follows- 33 electoral votes for McCain and 1 electoral vote for Obama even though Texas, a winner take all state, voted for McCain so McCain should get all 34 electoral college votes.

I raise this because Sen Obama and his campaign team have past reputation for overly aggressive and possibly illegal and unethical maneuvers when it comes to registering, casting, counting votes and eliminating competition from a race before the race starts.

PURE speculation in my part here-but what is to stop one candidate from blackmailing or bribing the electors from opposition party to turn into faithless electors?

After all-really-it is the electors who actually vote for the president of the USA-not the voters-

shiloh — I have tried to be positive but I am now worried. There is a socialist cabal behind all this. The media and the pollsters make up phoney polls which are weighted to favor Obama because they want to make an Obama win seem plausible. Its not enough to just have Obama winning by 1 or 2% they have to give him 9 or 10% to counter the Bradley Factor. Will Americans vote for this media designed fraud? No Way. However, watch the media tell us in the next couple of weeks that people will vote the economy and the Bradley Factor means nothing because Obama will win and win big.

If we read between the lines we see that Obama’s appearances are falling flat while those of McCain/Palin are attended by thousands. For the first time I am geniunely nervous because it appears that the news media died in 2008 and the agenda they are pushing with an Obama presidency could be a very painful one.

New voting machines were passed through the Democratic Congress when they got in 2006. This will be the first election in which these machines will be used. You know the drill — chaos will insue and it will take a few days to count the votes however, when it is over surprise surprise Obama will win and we will be in deep shit.

Comment by tzada | 2008-09-24 13:27:16

Yes it will come down to fraud. That is why we have to push them back. This online registration by Obama is insane. What protection is their against fraid? None and none and nada.

Obamacus is _the_ candidate of Wall St. Just look at his contributions list. I think the DC Consensus knows the banking system is going down the tubes and they think Baraka would be better able to pacify the public, and more importantly distract attention away from the Dems hand in the current crisis, than a Republican.

Comment by Phil Murphy | 2008-09-24 12:49:02

Again, the childish way of linking Obama and Islam.

As to the fault of the current state of banking? Trust McCain - Not . He lied about his boy Rick Davis. Go look at the news. Rick Davis has been getting $$ from Fannie Mae since 2005, and he got it until last month.

Dont listen to posters who have to lower themselves by making up shit!

Print the truth and speak truth to power, and then vote. But please read about the truth from sources, not blogs.

Comment by Jules | 2008-09-24 12:58:35

Umm, YOU are making up shit. The accusation about Rick Davis is not true. I HAVE watching the news. Some more crap planted by the Obama campaign no doubt. I am amazed by their ability to figure out what they themselves are guilty of and then accuse someone else of it. What integrity.

Comment by No Obamislamists | 2008-09-24 13:21:18

Not to mention it’s something right out of the typical Bush/Rove handbook. Accuse your enemies of what you yourself are doing.

P.S. If your “sources” are the propagandists of the main stream media NO THANKS

Comment by tommyo77 | 2008-09-24 13:26:44

Phil, You say “read the truth from sources”. do you mean the NY Times that completely lied about Rick Davis but didnt mention all the money Nobama has been receiving from the Freddie and Fannie and also didnt mention that McCain has tried to get more oversight for them since 2005 and Nobama has not… nice source.

In fact, the allegation is demonstrably false. As has been previously reported, Mr. Davis separated from his consulting firm, Davis Manafort, in 2006. As has been previously reported, Mr. Davis has seen no income from Davis Manafort since 2006. Zero. Mr. Davis has received no salary or compensation since 2006. Mr. Davis has received no profit or partner distributions from that firm on any basis — weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual — since 2006. Again, zero. Neither has Mr. Davis received any equity in the firm based on profits derived since his financial separation from Davis Manafort in 2006.

Further, and missing from the Times’ reporting, Mr. Davis has never — never — been a lobbyist for either Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Mr. Davis has not served as a registered lobbyist since 2005.

Take your own advice.

Comment by Phil Murphy | 2008-09-24 13:39:42

Did I say lobbyist, or that he was getting paid. Two different things, but nice try at a segway.

Was his firm on the payroll of Fanny Mae until last month. That is what I commented about - not whether he performed lobbying work.

Good try at subterfuge and now answer my question.

Comment by beebop | 2008-09-24 13:48:54

We don’t have to do anything for you, PHIL. You can kiss my freckled back side. We put up with snots all damn day long who throw out INSANE facts with no back up. Don’t like it here? GO … GO …. GO back to the sites where they cluster f*ck for 0bama.

Comment by Phil Murphy | 2008-09-24 16:27:52

You guys are a crackup. No, I am here to stay, and am inviting my friends as well. You will know them because they dont post about Hitler, or Goebbles or make fun of black people and act immature.

Speaking truth to power is easy. You just have to get past some of the garbage posted by childish people.

Comment by Jules | 2008-09-24 16:41:38

I for one really enjoy having you here. It is pure entertainment to see the unabashed ignorance of Obama supporters on full display. Reinforces my vote for McCain/Palin every time and makes me work harder on their behalf!

I’m sure we will recognize “all of your friends” by their complete lack of reasoning ability. After all, if reason played any part, you would not be unashamed worshippers of an “Empty Suit”. No matter what kind of crap you try to post, there are those of us who can’t be fooled, hoodwinked and conned like you obviously can.

“Who will our next president listen to?”

“John McCain his top advisors are top corporate lobbyists”

How dare he violate my mailbox with his lies?

Never in my whole life have I despised a person so much.

Blankley concludes that “One can only hope that the senior journalists will be judged as harshly for their professional misconduct as Wall Street’s leaders currently are for their failings.”

Yes, we can only hope that all of these journalists who are complicite in the crimes they commited during the democratic primary and continue throughout the Presidential election are held accountable.
