The Palins Give Far More to Charity Than the Bidens

Do you remember Larry Johnson’s April 2008 story, “Follow the Money“? The story in which Larry broke the news about the uncharitable Obamas, who give less than one percent (1%) of their income to charity compared to Hillary and Bill Clinton’s ten percent (10%).

Now we find out that Joe Biden and wife are as stingy, as miserly, as his running mate and wife. The story comes from The Hill’s story, “Palin gives more to charity than Biden“:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made considerably less money than rival Sen. Joe Biden, but the Palin family gave more to charity in the last two years than Biden has in the last eight combined, according to Palin’s tax records released Friday afternoon.

Palin, the running mate of presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), and her husband Todd reported meager earnings from 2006 and 2007, at least by presidential-politics standards.

In 2006, the Palins paid $11,944 in taxes on $127,869 in income. In 2007, they paid $24,738 on $166,080.

But in 2006, they donated $4,880 to charity, and in 2007, they donated $3,325.

By contrast, Biden (D-Del.), Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s running mate, has donated a total of $3,690 since 1998 despite his higher Senate salary, according to an analysis posted by National Review.

And I thought Democrats and liberals were the ones in favor of giving to the needy.

As Larry wrote in his April story:

Now that we have the tax returns of Hillary Clinton and and Barack Obama in hand there is no doubt who cares more for ministering to the needs of the poor and sick in this world.

[...]

Bill and Hillary gave almost 10% of their income to charity. Barack “the Community Organizer for the Poor” and his wife donated less than 1%. This is another stark difference between the character and substance of Barack and Hillary. Hillary talks and does. Barack just talks and barely does.

“Barack just talks and barely does.”

Right on, Larry. How I wish more voters understood this FUNDAMENTAL character flaw in Obama. That he talks the talk just enough to attain the next highest position of power he can find, but doesn’t mean much, if any, of what he says on the campaign trail.

Both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin — it’s obvious — sincerely and deeply care about the programs they are fighting for.

Sarah gives no charity to Obama.

Palin says Obama ‘palling around’ with terrorists

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Saturday accused Democrat Barack Obama of “palling around with terrorists” because of an old association with a former ’60s radical, stepping up an effort to portray Obama as unacceptable to American voters.

Amen to that.

I was really horrified to hear some pundit on Tv saying that Hillary needs to get out there and teach Obama some empathy so he can connect better with voters. Yeah that’s the truth, Obama just doesn’t care about the people he’s serving, but that’s not something Hillary can teach him.

Comment by Fenelon spoke | 2008-10-04 17:37:50

If some T.V. pundit suggests that Hillary needs to teach Obama epathy they aren’t very familar with psychology. An inabality to feel empathy is a classsic trait of someone with NPD. The more I listen to Obama and see see his actions they more likely I think it is that he has this disorder.

He is an empty shell of a man…it’s too late for him to learn empathy.

At his age it is far too large for Barry to “learn” empathy.

There is good evidence that for some people empathy is innate and for others their parents were able to teach empathy at the “critical period” when children are able to learn to be empathetic towards others.

Barry is LONG past his “critical period” when he can learn to be empathic.

One of the first things I noted about Barry was his LACK of empathy — he has none — and he isn’t able to fake empathy.

One example of Barry’s lack of empathy — the tenants in Rezko’s apartments who had NO heat in the dead of winter. Barry could care less about the “little” people — the ones below his pay grade.

The thing that lets me know this country is not the country of my youth is the MSM. I remember growing up watching the news every night with my parents, trusting everything that was told to us by the newsmen, reading our papers never questioning the truth of what was printed. If Harry Truman or John Kennedy had ever had a past like Obama, we would have known about it before the convention. I cannot believe this unsavory character will probably be our next president. I wish Rezko would spill the beans and they would come and cart Obama off to jail which is where he belongs. He has made a mockery of the voting process by allowing ACORN to get buses and raid the homeless shelters for votes. People who care about the country and want to participate in America can get to the polls and vote by themselves. Every party has a group that will take anyone to the polls no matter what their situation is. All they have to do is call whichever party they want to take them.

I have this sick, sad feeling in my heart for our country. As Palin said the other night, we might be sitting around telling our grandchildren about the US and how great the country was when everyone had freedom.

Actually, I too miss the old style journalism. I agree that we could all sit and listen to the news with our parents. It was delivered in objective and dignified fashion. My dad never missed his favorites: Huntley and Brinkley.

But I have to disagree on one thing. Not all of their past / or current warts would be revealed. The press left Roosevelt’s affair alone. Heck, they helped shield him from being seen in a wheelchair. They didn’t cover Eisenhower’s affair. (I have to laugh because our paper wrote some cute pieces on people who were very old and and had been around for many elections. One older woman gushed about Eisenhower. Then she drew back and said that, of course, she later read about his “lady friend,” but she still liked him best.

We didn’t really hear mush about Kennedy’s health problems or his womanizing until later.

I’m thinking it was the stupid challenge to the media by Gary Hart that turned that all around.

Quite frankly, I just don’t care about those types of issues. If you study much history, you find very few great leaders who were also personally “pure.”

But, yes, the old-style journalism was better. And, yes, as one poster said on a different thread a while back, it’s as if we’re back to yellow journalism. The media should never be part of the story at all.

But now I sound as old as I am. “The medium IS the massage.” So, since I am quoting Marshall McLuhan, you know I’m living mentally in the good old days.

Comment by Andrew | 2008-10-04 17:59:15

There is a difference between covering “affairs” and covering (or not covering) a politician’s rise to power in the company of people who advocate the violent overthrow of the government. The media in the 1950s may not have covered Ike’s affair with Kay Summersby, but they were all over people with Communist affiliations. It’s true that Joe McCarthy was a demagogue and a liar, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t a hell of a lot of Reds in positions where they could harm the country. Liberals have screamed about the Rosenbergs for 30 years. Now we know they WERE guilty, beyond any doubt. Even their sons accept it. Today’s MSM is beyond contempt.

Comment by StrawberryBitesBarky | 2008-10-04 18:04:38

Huh? A lot of Reds? What are you talking about? And could you link to the Rosenbergs being guilty. The last I remember is their children suing to clear their parents’ name.

Susan, thank you for posting this story. The hypocricy of Obama and Biden is ridiculous.

And how hilarious if there was indeed a pundit, as posted above, telling Hillary to get out there and teach Obama some empathy.

What else would the media like her to do for him. Win the election, too?

Yeah, she could, easily. If the DNC had allowed a true roll call vote in which case she might have been our nominee.

PM Gordon Brown’s Ambassador was complaining of the same thing re Obama — no empathy.

Well, empathy is not something you grow like a Chia Pet. If Senator Obama cannot understand the true meaning of practicing what you preach, I doubt anyone is going to be able to help him do that.

How very sad.

Further, no one has to be either a champion for or defender of Sarah Palin to understand that she does not deserve the horrid vitriol she is currently receiving at the hands of the left.

The so called progressives sound more like reactionaries every day.

Comment by AnnieCarmel | 2008-10-04 16:55:32

Ani, couldn’t agree more. The good news for me this week was that Sandra Bernhard lost a job at an abused women’s group event because of her hideous comments about Sarah…saying that it would not be appropriate for her to represent women who have been the victims of violence.

Comparing the two? Bernhard = filth. Sarah = the best new role model for women to come before the public in a decade.

I concur. How pathetic it is that a 47 year-old man has to be taught empathy. Empathy at this stage in a decent person’s life should be a given, not an accoutrement one adds to life’s accomplishments. Not a surprise though, he had no such empathy for babies born alive from botched abortions. That should be a red flag as to how compassionate this man is.

Palin’s in attack mode on Barky today:

At a fundraiser today in Englewood, Colorado, GOP vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin bared her Pit Bull teeth and bit Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama over his relationship with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Palin said:

“Our opponent though is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect, imperfect enough that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country. Americans need to know this. Talk about taking the gloves off, I too being that outsider and only being a part of this for 5 weeks now, I think ok we gotta get the word out. This is in fairness to the electorate; we gotta start telling people what the other side represents.”

The polls have turned toxic and they feed off thenselves. I do not think anyone can come close to picking the results today. With the solid AA vote, the anti AA vote, the anti gender vote and the PUMA vote, no one can predict, but as it gets wider it does indicate a trend towards Obama. If McCain/Palin can get the talk back on Obama and define him for who he is and not what the media has allowed to display, McCain might be able to turn it around.

Comment by Shiloh | 2008-10-04 17:52:03

I don’t think there is anything to turn around because I think in truth McCain is ahead. The polls we are seeing are bs. They have a built in bias for Obama of 5-9 points. That means McCain is ahead by several. On Nov 4 he will win by 10.

Comment by Dan | 2008-10-04 18:38:59

I wish that were the case. But the recent headlines screaming that Wall Street and the economy are about to collapse has got people scared shitless. And who does the average uninformed yokel in the street blame? George Bush of course, and by extension the Republicans.

Most of these people can’t even identify a picture of Condoleeza Rice when it’s shown to them, yet Obama’s simplistic pitch of “A vote for John McCain is a vote for four more years of George Bush” registers with them. That’s why Obama has moved ahead.

As a rule, people generally vote their pocketbooks, and right now that’s a huge edge to the Democrats. If Hillary Clinton were the nominee, she’d be 15 points ahead.

“Former Secretary of State Madeline Albright who once said, ‘There is a special place in hell for women who do not help other women.</

strong>’ That grew as much of a roar as did her comment about Obama’s terrorist friend article in the NYT. She took a swipe at Katie Couric and the MSM. The audience turned to the camera men who were cool about it. Over 10, 000 people who love this country!

PALIN RALLY ROCKED

I too was at the Palin rally today. She was AMAZING. The stadium was packed to capacity and they had to overflow it to another one. The audience treats her like a rockstar. Every time Obama’s name came up people screamed “Obama sucks” and “Liar” over and over. She said it was time to “take the gloves off” as far as Obama and YES she went on and on about Ayers. She did it in a GREAT way…She mentioned the media being obsessed with BS stuff like “what she reads.” Well, she said she happened to be reading the NY TIMES this morning and, low and behold, she say this story on Obama and his domestic terrorist friend Ayers who bombed the Pentagon. To say it was PRICELESS is an understatement. She also said she was at Starbucks drinking her coffee this am…and on the cup was the “quote of the day” from Madeleine Albright…”There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t support other women.” The crowd went wild again. She is the MOST charming, gorgeous, brilliant shining star ever. Mark my words, she will be POTUS some day and I’ll br thrilled to have her.

On a sad, sick note, the most REPUGNANT ugly nasty azz Obama pigs were picketing. They make me puke. Get a life you scumbags and stop obsessing over Palin. It’s really pathetic.

Oh yeah, that was an AMAZING thing…the Head of the CA Chapter of NOW was just incredible. She called Sarah her “SISTER” and the crowd went wild again. What an endorsement and they two of them hugged each other big time. I have to say again, this woman Sarah-Cuda is a winner and she’s the one I want in the White House. We have to stop the MSM from lying about her. I was THERE and I SAW the insanity over this woman. The people went out of their minds.

I am so pleased to see that there are bastions of common sense left in Southern California!!!!

I am so glad she visited with you there and I hope she gets more support from women out there with the NOW Chair’s support.

Go Sarah

Guys,

I feel like I’m on a high right now. I can’t express how amazing it was to see Palin in person. I haven’t seen people go this wild over Mick Jagger. You had to be there. It was just plain incredible. She is gorgeous, gracious, funny, charming and she handled every moment with poise, dignity and humor. I hope you all get to see all of it. It’s worth it. I can’t wait to see her kick Obama around some more. The best thing was that even when the Obama jackazzes came in to heckle her, she didn’t even blink. She just kept going. She can’t be rattled. If the feminist women who have issues over this abortion thing could have been there, they would jump over a fence to vote for her. That’s how INFECTIOUS she is. I promise she will be POTUS.

We MUST Thank Hillary for paving the way for Palin and the rest of our daughters.

I can see VP Palin and Senate Majority Leader Clinton at the Oval Room (a great restaurant in DC) chatting over lunch plotting the future of health care and reform in the Senate. I think they will hit it off really well–and I bet they will have each other’s back.

I don’t know where to post this, but I want you all know what was happening in my neighborhood (Upper West Side - low 70’s) this afternoon. There were Obama’s people ‘registering’ everyone and their dogs that wanted to vote for him. They asked me but I said ‘no thanks’, I am going to vote for McCain even that I am a registered democrat. The thing is that at the Fairway supermarket there were two Spanish women working at the registers and were asking each other if they’ve registered outside. I asked them if they were American citizens and they told me no, but they have their ‘green card’. As far as I know, only American citizens can vote, I told them. No, they said, the people at the table didn’t ask us for any documents.

Now, I am confused. Since when this has changed…???

Comment by Islandgirl | 2008-10-04 21:20:29

Green card holders are NOT allowed to vote. It is actually grounds for deportation. Can you go back and tell the 2 Spanish speaking ladies of the dangers of voting if they are not yet American citizens? I am a Green card holder too and I am so frustrated that I cannot vote for McCain and cancel an Obama vote!
