Midday Open Thread * [Location Correction] Join Harriet Christian Saturday + Help “Real Democrats” In Ohio

mccainharriet1-1.jpgIf you can’t do the “Real Democrats” Ohio jaunt (but you still will want to donate to help our McCain Democrats make their Ohio campaign a success), you East Coasters can’t pass up joining Harriet Christian Saturday and every weekend until November. Harriet e-mailed me about a campaign blitz in Pennsylvania this Saturday. E-mail Harriet at hchristian@infnyc.com to CONFIRM, hopefully by mid-afternoon Thursday.

The best parts: The bus trip is free. You’ll meet Harriet and other supporters. And you’ll be helped at every step and given everything you’ll need!

The details: The bus taking you to Scranton leaves NYC’s Penn Station at 9:00 a.m.. Meet up outside Penn Station, along West 31st St., before the corner with Eighth Ave. The bus arrives in Scranton at 11:00 a.m. You depart Scranton at 6:00 p.m., and get back to Penn Station @ 8:00 p.m.

NOTE the Scranton location correction:If you want to drive to Scranton,” Harriet says, “meet up with everyone coming from NYC at @ 11:00 at Scranton’s McCain/Palin campaign office at 430 Lackawanna Ave..” GO TO Democrats for McCain at 420 North Main Ave., Scranton, PA 18504.

Here’s more from Harriet:

Flyers and other materials will be provided by the McCain campaign.  They have flyers for Hillary supporters in Scranton - Hillary won by almost 70% there.

Tell people to dress comfortably - and to wear layers - in case the weather changes.

This is the first weekend trip. The free buses will be provided by the McCain Campaign every Saturday and Sunday for the rest of the campaign.

If I weren’t a few thousand miles away, I’d be there in a heartbeat!

:::::::::::

Check out Truthteller’s great report on the exciting Ohio trip: Your donations, small or large, will make the difference in how far this great group can go in Ohio!

Here, we usually talk politics. This time we can DO politics. We can not only talk the talk, but walk the walk — by helping financially and/or by hopping on those buses.

ACORN started New Party

http://web.archive.org/web/20010605162654/www.wandererforum.org/Focus25.htm

To accomplish its goals, as outlined in the People’s Platform, ACORN has developed a political alliance with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Together with others, ACORN and the DSA have formed a political party, the New Party.

a. National ACORN president, Maud Hurd, along with Dr. Cornel West (honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America) and a representative from the Reproductive Rights Coalition Fund, are listed as New Party supporters.

That doesn’t bug me. What bugs me is they receive federal funding.

THAT is wrong.

Harriet & Co., don’t forget the Philly burbs.

Lots of Hillary support during the primary in the counties surrounding Philadelphia. Now - not as many 0bama signs out as there were Hillary signs in April.

Philly burbs are only two hours south of NYC.

And we have good cheese steaks!

Did anyone hear about the brutal interview Charlie Gibson did with Obama yesterday. Remember, the guy who looked down through his half glasses at Sarah Palin and asked her about her hubris. Well, Charlie really made up for that with the way he blistered Obama.

First he asked Obama about Ayers, and Obama said, lets get this thing cleared up right now. He then gave a vague answer. And it was at this point that Charlie Gibson let him have it:

GIBSON: Senator, thanks.

OBAMA: Thank you, so much.

GIBSON: Appreciate talking to you.

OBAMA: Thank you.

WOW!!! Attack journalism at its best!!!

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-09 14:20:30

I always liked Gibson.

Oh well…..icons have fallen in this election.

Comment by J.J. | 2008-10-09 14:23:39

When this election cycle began, I actually liked Keith Olberman.

Comment by Pennsylvania goes RED! | 2008-10-09 14:30:53

Wasn’t Gibson the one who nailed n0bama in his debate with Hillary (before PA primary)?

Why the change of heart?

You know, it’s the failure of follow-up that lets them pretend they “covered” the story when in fact it’s GIVING COVER, as in cover-up in broad daylight.

What is it that Americans have to be told what’s outrageous? The DNC can simply GIVE one candidates votes to another who wasn’t even on the ballot, and as long as there is a BS cover story….no outrage.

Finally, an accurate story from MSNBC:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27046565?GT1=43001

LOL — it’s a story about a guy who has grown an immense pumpkin. Interesting, though.

I’m also happy Al Franken is winning in MN. He and Hillary were the only 2 candidates I gave money to.

Comment by Paul3triple | 2008-10-09 14:57:02

franken??
Yeah, he is a real winner. If you are smart enough not to vote for obama. I would hope you would reconsider franken, who is a truly vile man who does not pay his taxes and has no experience of any sort to be US senator.
Obama and him are insulting to america.
I think we deserve better.

Comment by NCgirl | 2008-10-09 14:59:16

Al Franken is a joke.

Comment by NoTrollZone | 2008-10-09 18:20:12

and not even a funny joke at that…. really, he’s just an ass.

New mccain ad:

McCain ad pushes ‘risky’ Obama theme

The McCain campaign has a new negative ad which seeks to further its effort to fuel questions in some voters’ minds about Sen. Barack Obama. It’s all a part of the “who is the real Obama?” theme the Republican nominee’s campaign has been frenetically pushing in recent days.

Here’s the ad’s transcript:

Script For “Ayers” (WEB :90)

ANNCR: Barack Obama and domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Friends. They’ve worked together for years.

But Obama tries to hide it. Why?

Obama launched his political career in Ayers’ living room.

Ayers and Obama ran a radical “education” foundation, together.

They wrote the foundation’s by-laws, together.

Obama was the foundation’s first chairman.

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/10/mccain_ad_pushes_risky_obama_t.html

mccain is making it harder and harder for the “liberal media” to ignore obama’s friends.

I am glad to see groups fanning out across these states to talk to people.

Personally I don’t give a RAT’S ASS who wants to call me a racist. It’s just something to try to distract people from seeing the real Obama.

Who even knows if it was Palin’s legs?

In any case it has no news value, it’s more of a locker room stunt, akin to the college brat who hacked her e-mail.

Except this is not a federal offense, it’s just cheezy.

Obama on his stump speech at this very minute mocking McCain’s plan to help restore the economy.

1. It certainly increases investor’s confidence. Hurray.

2. He just appropriated the plan as his own. He said he’s been talking about a bailout for homeowners for a long time.

So he mocks McCain’s plan, says he thought about it first, he destroys investors confidence.

What a guy.

Comment by lark | 2008-10-09 15:01:44

My idea. This is what I suggest to stop our economy from sinking into depression. Just one thing. One simple thing. Maybe difficult but simple.

Every family as much as they can use only one car and park the other. Find ways to carpool to work and find ways to manage doing all the errands, going to the doctor and everything that has to be done with one car. And by the way, the car to use should be the car with the highest MPG average.

Lets begin that tomorrow.

Let the President announce this plan on TV tonight. Lets commit to do this for one year minimum.

Confidence will return for our economy immediately.

And don’t cheat.

Comment by hadenough | 2008-10-09 15:07:39

More good news for obama?

cnn breaking news: Dow falls more than 600 points. Gauge of investor fear — an index known as the Vix , hits an all-time high.

At some point all the ‘good news’ for obama is gonna bit him the ass. That is if the “liberal media” would stop copying and pasting obama camp talking points and force obama to actually tells what his plan is.

Comment by Sarracuda In So Cal | 2008-10-09 15:10:32

Notice that as long as Obama leads in the polls the stock market tanks, even Wall Street knows that Obama would destroy this country. I’m gonna get me a nice house in Wasilla if Adolf Jr gets elected

Comment by lark | 2008-10-09 15:20:22

OMG. Biden. McCain plan is wrong. Here is what we are going to do…bla bla (McCain’s plan).

These people will destroy the economy unless they get elected. And if they get elected then they will destroy the economy too.

Harriet is a true American patriot. she has figured out what is really going on. she was there to see it and smell it first hand. my respect for her acumen and resolve is great indeed. she is now a dangerous woman. my prayers go with her.

a McCain/Palin administration is our hope for the preservation of true American Democracy. seriously.

the willy nilly vacuous obamacans led by “intellectual progressives” are all of them the brainwashed advertisement for the current Marxist/Socialist infection now making itself known, and still yet unbelieved by a majority of Democratic party affiliated Americans.

however….i’m certain that there are still many who intuit that something is rotten and not quite jiving, but can’t quite put there finger on it. these are the merely partially brainwashed, like myself, who after witnessing the debacle of the dem primary, are reaching far and wide for what is true.

Harriet is in the forefront, she is seriously out there.

the truth about obama will never be accepted by those gullible and foolish people who are in love with his image. obama is the archetypal proverbial benevolent dictator creating the false illusions they so desperately believe must be the real deal for all of us. an army of True Believers. many of them are decent people, and innocent of corruption. many are so young and idealist, which is why the coup goes straight for them. the adults…they have no excuse.

if there is an obama in the white house, and the real axe falls, somewhere in the not too distant future, and the freedom we all take for granted is diminished and foreshadowing the promise of the unimaginable , the unwitting lemmings at the forefront will be the first to go blindly over the cliff.

problem is…..

the poor silly bastards will bring us all down with them.

i am not amused.

future generations are not amused

MacPalin o8!

Time for female PUMAs to bite.

If this doesn’t enrage all women, then we, as a gender are truly idiots.

Joe Biden tells a reporter that Sarah Palin’s nomination as VP is a step back for women

Ladies,it is time to step up and tell Joe Biden we are sick of being taken for granted, used and abused.

This fills me with RAGE, RAGE, mother f***in’ RAGE!!!

The video can be found at Redstate-
