“Memory is a Motherf—ker” (for both Obama and Ayers)

Even worse than the violent series of crimes that the unrehabilitated, unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dorhn committed is that Barack Obama associated with Ayers for over 20 years. Bill Ayers hired Obama as chairman of a $50 million education project that pushed Ayers’ radical ideological agenda, and Ayers hosted Obama’s first political fundraiser in Ayers’ and Dohrn’s home.
[Barack Obama and campaign have been hopelessly "erratic" -- suspiciously so -- on what he'll reveal about his longtime relationship with Bill Ayers -- they say Obama hardly knew him, they say he was just some guy in the neighborhood, then they say Obama was friendly with him, then Axelrod claims their kids went to the same school (even though they're @ 16-18 years apart in age), they refuse ever to respond about Ayers hiring Obama, Obama deletes his sole executive experience from his resume because it shows that he was Bill Ayers' employee, Obama says Ayers is rehabilitated, but now Obama says Ayers isn't rehabilitated. We need to face it: Obama is simply too "erratic" for the American people to trust as their president.]
Ask yourself: Would Ayers have hired Obama if Obama had not agreed with Ayers’ agenda? Would Ayers have backed Obama with political fundraisers and contributions if he didn’t believe Obama would push Ayers’ ideology as an elected official? Now this:
Barack Obama’s statement that he “assumed [William Ayers] had been rehabilitated” raises an interesting issue. In some press coverage of this matter, “unrepentant” has virtually become Ayers’ middle name. And while Ayers indeed appears unrepentant, it is important to note that he has never specified just what it is that he is unrepentant about. In other words, he’s never owned up to any of the crimes he committed. It would be one thing for him to say, “I did this, and I’d do it again.” But Ayers doesn’t do that.
Ayers opens his memoir, Fugitive Days [which I bet probably as fictional as Obama's two "memoirs" - Susan], with the statement, “Memory is a motherf—ker. I myself remember almost nothing.” Well, there’s a reason Ayers says he remembers almost nothing, and that is because he committed serious crimes and people quite likely died as a result of his actions. Ayers could speak to this more authoritatively, but there are still statute of limitations issues involved. After escaping prosecution, Ayers famously said of himself, “Guilty as hell, free as a bird — it’s a great country.” But he’s not going to press his luck. So he says he doesn’t remember. His wife, Bernardine Dohrn, has memory problems, too.

Now, John Dickerson at Slate in “Putting Off Ayers: HOW OBAMA BENEFITS FROM THE CYNICISM HE DECRIES.“:
Now, if you’re a purist, you might say Obama should have run from Ayers the minute he learned about his past. Perhaps he should have behaved as courageously as Joe Biden says he did when he met Slobodan Milosevic. (Biden told the Serbian leader to his face that he was a war criminal.) Obama didn’t do this. At some level, he decided it was OK to have professional associations with a person who was once a domestic terrorist and didn’t seem to regret it.
Obama and his aides recognize this is an untenable position. So this week they have offered some late-in-the-game clarifications. Obama didn’t know about Ayers’ past—and when he did learn about it, he assumed Ayers had been rehabilitated. (His aides say Obama now doesn’t believe Ayers has been rehabilitated.)
From a political standpoint, finding out whether Obama and his aides are now telling the truth leads down a rabbit hole. The press can’t determine what Obama knew and when he knew it about Ayers’ past or Ayers’ level of rehabilitation. Only a revelation on those fronts would create the conditions for a big political moment of exposing Obama as a fraud. McCain can press the issue, but Obama’s statements muddy the case, . …

Obama is a total liar on all fronts. The one lie to really watch out for is his false claim to be a Christian. His relationship with Odinga in Kenya, the country of which Mr. Obama was first a citizen of, is the scariest. Obama tried his best and worked with Odinga for 2 years to get Islamic Sharia law to be the law of the land in Kenya. Ladies you had better be ready to wear those veils, stop driving, and cow-tow to the husband that was picked for you by the males in the society. Ladies you can be beaten under this law. How any woman can vote for Obama, after his destruction of Senator Hillary Clinton and the ungoing destruction of Governor Sarah Palin, is beyond me. Obama hates women and will do anything to destroy women and the USA. I can’t put it any more clearer than this.
Why doesn’t someone ask him in these townhall meetings if he would please recite the Lord’s Prayer or list the 10 Commandments. I bet you would hear a deafening chorus of UH….UH….UH….UH. It has been reported that he can quote Islamic prayers in beautiful and fluent Arabic. If elected President, God forbid, which book do you think he will be sworn in on? Probably the autobiography written for him by Bill Ayers.
Obama lost credibility with me entirely with the great speech over the Wright flap. I knew that moment that he was emotionally manipulative in a way that many politicians are not.
NAFTA, the race card in SC, denial of Rezko connection, lying about opponent programs while claiming to take the high road, 100% negative campaigning while pretending the other guy is the one doing it, etc.
Normally, if I had any real record to go on, I wouldn’t put too much weight on this. He is, after all, campaigning. However, we have no record, so we have to use what he offers: His campaign tactics and actions over this past 2 years.
It’s insulting, in my opinion, to suggest that he thought they’d been rehabilitated. That’s as absurd as asking us to believe he never knew his spiritual mentor said hateful things about white people and the country.
If the country wishes to elect this man with clear radical roots, then there’s nothing much I can do….except cast my vote.
The real question he should answer is simple. Has HE been rehabilitated?
And then, he needed to line his actions up. He failed to do that. He’s now out lying to the public about the mortgage plan.
There’s no legitimate discussion going on in his talks. He’s being, again, irresponsible.
Does anybody doubt now the whole thing was orchestrated? He had “the speech” well before the planned event. We were being inoculated and race was being positioned into a place where it could only help the Obama campaign and has led us to where we are now… where a white suit is “racist code”.
I’d like to know what he thought they had been rehabilitated from? Since he said he knew nothing of their past, he’d have to think they’d be rehabilitated from something, what exactly was that? Let’s see first he’s just a guy in the neighborhood. Then he served on a board with him, but didn’t know him. Even though it was two boards one that he funneled money to him aand the other board through Amazing isn’t it Ayers leaves the Woods Fund, Obama funnels him millions of dollars over to the Annenburg Challenge, then leaves the Woods fund and goes over to Annenburg with Ayers. Worked with his wife for several years at the law firm. Now it’s I thought he was rehabilitated…
As late as 2001 Ayers said he didn’t regret setting bombs, that he wishes he had done more (which the news media has recently tacked on “to end the war,” liars). He has never said he was sorry for anything he did. Hence, he’s unrepentant.

The Sun Times today gave a major clue that Barack Obama will indeed go down with Tony Rezko, sooner rather than later. It looks as though Rezko is about to turn on Alexi Giannoulias, the 30-year old State Treasurer of Illinois (who was elected only because Obama backed him).

I lived in Chicago until recently. At the time I couldn’t understand why Obama would endorse someone who HAD NEVER VOTED before and had no record for treasurer. The article connected the dots quite well.
Then again, I couldn’t understand why he endorsed Todd Stroger, son of John Stroger and the poster boy for Chicago nepotism and cronysism. This is the same jerk who raised sales tax to 10.25% (highest in the nation) as a response to the budget shortfall and then had the gall to appoint his cousin and buddies to prominent positions. Then he proceeds to give them a RAISE when the budget is in a “crisis”!!!!
What is sad is that Cook County is so saturated in this type of behavior that no one bats an eye and the voters are too blind to vote for anyone that is outside their ethnicity or to an opposite party.

I do not know the context of this quote. I do not trust the MSM. But this is what most people will read. What do you think. Does this undermine McCains past messages on Obama/Ayers and does it mean he will not address other dubious relations. Or is there a tactic I miss?
I would have responded differently. Something like: “I understand your concerns about the people he associate himself with, the people he lends his ear to, but request that you show your objections in a different manner - by voting against Obama”.
If McCain declares Obama for what he is: sympathetic to anyone who harbors antipathy for America, i.e. Obama is D A N G E R O U S; the media accuses McCain of scaremongering and being disrespectful and condemning half of America, the ones who supports THE mighty One of being idiots who can’t recognize a pathogen (though they are).

I’ve stayed largely silent on the William Ayers controversy because, while associating with someone of that nature is completely reprehensible, I’m not altogether convinced it’s a poltically effective attack. (I also wish McCain was putting a better economic message on the table right now as well.) Further, if associating with criminals is a problem — there are more relevant associations with ties to his campaign that everybody ought to be concerned with.
I’ve been screaming into the abyss for some time about Alexi Giannoulias, the Illinois state treasurer that Obama endorsed when he ran for office despite no previous political experience, who has been personally mixed up with organized crime via business dealings with his family’s bank. Well, guess what — this little nugget turned up in a column in the Chicago Sun-Times:
Sneed hears rumbles political fund-raiser/fixer Tony Rezko, who is now singing sweetly to the feds from his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, has been talking about his “dealings” with a Chicago bank, which has political connections.
Now that’s throw away item in a political gossip column, so I would suggest taking it with a grain of salt. But if there’s any truth to it the odds that Rezko is singing about Giannoulias’ Broadway Bank are exceedingly high. If Giannoulias turns out to be in legal trouble again, there’s no way Obama can disatance himself like he has with Ayers. Giannoulias has been out raising lots of money for his campaign, and was even given a speaking slot at the Democratic convention in August.
So Obama chose to have him associated with his campaign. This was well after it became public that Giannoulias had loaned $11.8 million to Michael Giorango, a convicted bookmaker and prostitution promoter. Giannoulias first denied he personally approved the loan, then Chicago Tribune reported that Giannoulias personally oversaw $11.8 million in mortgage loans to Giorango in 2005. Then Giannoulias said the money had not gone to finance Casinos for organized crime. He appears to have lied again: “But newly obtained records show that $3.6 million of the recent loans were used by Giorango and another convicted felon to acquire a casino boat marina in Myrtle Beach, S.C.,” reported the Tribune.
It’s not like the Obama campaign can credibly say they didn’t know about this before he was out raising money for the campaign. But I’d like to believe major news agencies might want to pull a few reporters out of dumpsters in Wasilla (probably starting to get really cold up there anyway) and get them to Chicago to look into a potential Rezko-Giannoulias connection toot sweet. Maybe there’s nothing there, but it’s worth looking into right?

Lantern, I heard McCain say this to a man in the crowd. He said “You do not have to be scared of a President Obama.” I was shocked. He then went on to say that he thought he(McCain)would make a better president. McCain went over to an older woman who though Obama was an Arab. McCain told her that he was not an Arab, but a good Chritian family man. I would like to know how McCain knows all this, because all of us have doubts about just what Obama is and believes. The crowd didn’t like this at all. Boos and jeers ensued. I didn’t like it. I was angry that McCain thought it was his job to ease fears about Obama. What the hell is he doing now? Does he “want” to lose.
Remember when the press hounded Hillary about Obama asking her repeatedly if Obama was a Muslim? She finally responded with something like…”he’s not a muslim as far as I know” OMG! They blasted her, they howled bloody murder at her!!!!
I think he knows that he has some doomsday devices in his arsenal. That’s the only explanation I can come up with.

# Chicago has the highest retail sales tax in the nation, 10.25 percent, and is the only city with a head tax on employment.
# Corruption and crime continue to thrive — Chicago has a murder rate three times higher than New York’s.
Siegel writes: “And yet, Mr. Freddoso argues, reform for Mr. Obama ‘is something to discuss during election campaigns, not to be implemented or followed’ when it might jeopardize his ambitions.
Continuing his report on Freddoso’s book, Siegel writes: “By his own admission, Mr. Obama’s eyes were long on the prize of becoming the mayor of Chicago. Thus his willingness to make common cause with Tony Rezko, Allison Davis and Valerie Jarrett, locally wired political figures who did well for themselves by using state dollars to build publicly subsidized slums…
“What Mr. Obama did was unexceptional. He simply cultivated the people he needed to cultivate in order to climb the greasy pole of local preferment, giving beautiful speeches along the way.”

Telling that man in the crowd that “he didn’t have to be afraid of a President Obama” was a very bad choice of words. He just should have listened to the man and said something like he(McCain)thinks Obama is a decent guy or something, not that he doesn’t have to be afraid of a President Obama. He and everyone needs to be very afraid of a President Obama. You can take the “high road” without being stupid about it.

Exactly, McCain gets this. It makes me glad to know he understands. Why are people like O’Reilly and even Obama himself baiting McCain to overtly attack Obama? Because when he does… Obama wins. That is what they want McCain to do. Palin has to attack. Why? Because of the complex psychological makeup of this campaign orchestrated by Alinsky victim memtality architects. The minute McCain yakes a personal swipe at Obama… however justified… the rhetoric from Obama and the MSM (at there is no distinction) will immediately shift to a powerful establishment white senator… unfairly keeping Obama down. This will be followed by Obama telling all of us… “Look at what torment I am enduring for your sake”… “This was never about me”… “I am only doing this for you”. McCain is showing he is truly wise and understands that his opponent is not just Obama. More is stake than an election cycle. This goes way past red vs. blue. This is for “all the marbles”.
I would like to add something here after reading several posts finding fault with McCain’s response to the couple of people at his rally. Do you remember the many times Obama has stood and said, ‘they will try to make you afraid of me, I don’t look like other presidents’….and on and on. If McCain would have responded any other way than he did, Obama would be all over the tv screaming, I told you ‘they’ would make you afraid of me.’ It would serve no purpose for McCain to have said anything other than what he said. There will always be people in any crowd that incites others with their comments. McCain can’t afford to have a mini riot erupt at his rallies. Whether or not McCain or the RNC has a big surprise, I will still vote McCain/Palin.
Exactly again, Obama has inoculated supporters and has preemptively staged his position. McCain is proving to be a great strategist. McCain needs to hold his own and stick to what he knows is right. It has worked thus far… It will prevail.

My husband reads NQ when he can and knows about Ayers but the other day he saw that pic of Ayers standing on the American flag and commented that it would make most middle American voters (he’s originally from Iowa) go NUTS!
A picture IS worth a thousand words–the 527s or McCain should be using that pic in their ads.
In this atmosphere and now that many people have heard Ayers’ name I do think the picture would do the most harm.

I was born in 1962. When I was a kid in St. Louis, I looked out my window and saw the crazy hippies burning down the ROTC building of Washington University, the place of the VP debate. I remember watching the flames vividly today, even though I was only, what, 7 or 8 back then? I also knew about the Weather Underground growing up and the hideous, murderous, anti-America acts of Ayers and Dorhn et al. I went to school and was taught American History, something Obama clearly states he missed and is ignorant of. I can safely say that knowing what I know, in my 30’s and now 40’s I have the dignity, class, common sense and love of America to keep them off the list of my friends. Obama, in embracing Ayers and Dohrn, embraces their continued hatred of America and the acts of treason, murder, and destruction of America that they are “unrepentant” about committing. Anyone who thinks otherwise, or minimizes these continual, radical, anti-America associations of Obama needs mental health care of the highest order.

McCain’s campaign needs to intersperse quotes from Obama and his campaign into the ads about Ayers.
“He’s a guy who lives in my neighborhood” Obama … No, Ayers bombed neighborhoods.
“Bill Ayers lives in his (Obama) neighborhood. Their kids attend the same school…They’re certainly friendly, they know each other, as anyone whose kids go to school together.” Axelrod (Ayers children are adults, Obama’s children are in elementary school. Ayers once said “Bring the revolution home. Kill your parents”. Obama had his political coming out party at Ayers home.
“I assumed he had been rehabilitated” Obama… Ayers in NYT after 9/11/2001 “I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.”
I am sure there are more little gems out there. McCain has to use facts and contrast that with Obama’s own words and acts.
This is also true for NAFTA. Why doesn’t the McCain campaign use clips of Obama promising to renegotiate NAFTA in Ohio during the primaries and contrast that with 1) the memo from the Canadian government saying “an Obama adviser had told Canada’s government the candidate’s criticism of NAFTA was ‘more about political positioning than a clear articulation of policy plans.’” and 2) Obama back-peddling on what he promised Ohio and Pennsylvania during the primaries, telling Forbes “Sometimes during campaigns the rhetoric gets overheated and amplified,”
Why are they not bringing up his flip-flops on FISA, campaign finance, Iraq?
If possible the could lump all the flip flops into one commercial, using his own words to show him speaking out of both sides of his mouth.
Obama’s strength is his rhetoric. Why is it not being used to reveal his lies to voters.

I think maybe McCain made the Obama ’s a good guy statements so that it doesn’t look like he is complicit in peoples anger and anti Obama sentiment.
It was probably a good move because he (McCain) goes on record as having tired to quell the anger. People are free from that point on to feel they way they want to and it probably didn’t change many minds about Obama.
I’ve maintained that if there were going to be angry crowds it would be the majority this time and not the minority.
Obama has massive karma he has to own up to and more people will be angry about those things (Rezko, Ayers, lies, socialism, obfuscation, etc) than the color of skin issue that the Obama campaign has always tried to tie in.
