Pre-Debate Advice and Resistance Is Not Futile

This morning, Charles Krauthammer had some suggestions for McCain, a follow-up to his column the other day regarding Obama’s associates (and by associates, I don’t mean passing acquaintances - I mean friends, trusted confidantes, and mentors), and how he SHOULD be asked about them. Here is the video, well worth watching:

Wow - I love his description of Father Pfleger as a “whacko” - perfect! His advice is solid, I think - and I agree that McCain SHOULD have been hammering away about Wright and Ayers long ago. Frankly, the MSM should have been as well, but I have given up expecting them to actually do their jobs anymore.

And with the debate coming up, one can expect questions about the economy. Needless to say, it has been BIG in the news of late. For some reason, the majority of people polled believe Obama will do better. Why, I don’t know - he has absolutely no track record on anything anywhere in the neighborhood of dealing with an issue of this magnitude. I think we can chalk that up to the MSM shilling for him shamelessly. But, many of this country’s CEOs do not think so. Out of 751 CEOs polled, 80% think McCain is better for the long term health of the economy, according to Chief Executive Magazine. This assertion was affirmed by the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, Herman Cain this morning. He said, in no uncertain terms, that John McCain is CLEARLY better for the economy. Oh, and since everyone is keeping score these days (thanks so much for that, Barack), Mr. Cain is African American.

Mr. Cain isn’t the only one who thinks McCain would be better. The following is basically a combination of Krauthammer and Cain in one Rudy Guiliani (I know - I cannot believe I am including him either, but I think he is right on this issue):

And while we are talking Economics, last night, a bunch of former Hillary Clinton supporters, led by Lady Lynn Forester de Rothchild, held a major fundraiser for John McCain and Sarah Palin. They raised $10,000,000 in that fundraiser. As to why these people decided to hold this fundraiser, the article contained the answer:

While Mrs. Clinton has implored her former supporters to back Senator Barack Obama, some still harbor ill will towards him, organizers said.

“These people want to give their vote of disapproval,” said Mr. Lausell. “This is a way they’re doing it.”

Well, yeah, that’s sure one way of voicing one’s disapproval - raising a cool $10 mil. Wowie zowie.

Gee willikers, who could not want to support someone as humble, warm, and supportive as these folks (h/t to Paul Villareal)??

Oh, yeah. Add in the “Bros Before Hos” t-shirts, and the more despicable ones Obamabots are wearing these days, and I simply cannot imagine how people like Lady Lynn and others aren’t supporting this guy? Sheesh - what sore losers. (That is major snark, just in case you were confused.)

Hmmm - I wonder if McCain will bring up those t-shirts tonight? That would sure be an interesting debate, wouldn’t it?? Can’t you just SEE Obama trying to WORM his way out of that one??

Anywho, those Hillary-Now-McCain supporters are not the only ones who are resistant to Obama as president. Not by a long shot. There was an interesting comment by Desgans - in French - overnight at No Quarter’s post, “Barack Obama- First President of the World“:

Bonjour je suis Française et je viens de penser à un feuilleton que j’adorai ici en France, les acteurs : Jane Badler, Marc Singer, Faye Grant pour le film Vqui me fait penser à ce qui se passe aux US, PUMA sont les résistants et BHO partisants les lézards !!

Mon Dieu! Basically (according to PA goes Red),those of us who will not support this Selected nominee, the one who espouses the ideologies of William Ayers and Jeremiah Wright, whose arrogance, hubris, and just plain condescension, coupled with a dearth of experience, are Freedom Fighters like in the movie, “V.” Or like John Connors and company from “The Terminator,” I’m thinking. Yep, I can buy that. I do feel like I am fighting for my country to not be overtaken by those who do not have her best interests at heart, or at the least, have primarily THEIR interests at heart. The way in which the Obama campaign treats citizens of this country, especially women (and don’t forget Donna Brazile’s concept of the New Democratic Party - none of you bitter, clingy, religious, rural, elderly, and Hispanics need apply) makes that pretty clear. At the very least, our presidents should have the nation’s best interest as their bottom line. Obama is not only unqualified for this position, he does not fulfill that qualification. So, yeah - resistance here I come!

Ya think McCain can work THAT into the debate?!

Guiliani has the goods on Obama.

I heard a long time ago that Guiliani’s opposition research people back before he dropped out had found some stuff abroad. Of course I also heard the same thing about Hillary’s opposition research people.

He’s right.

That’s because FOX News is one of the only channels willing to vet him.
More proof that Sarah Palin, who just got vetted to an absurd degree, has bigger you know what’s than the Senator from Illinois.

Rudy’s team is the one that released the Wright tapes. I agree that he has a lot on Obama, but I think he’s holding onto it in the hopes of running against Obama in 2012 and using it then for ammunition. His team was the one that brought all the Rainbow tapes, the church tapes before they were scrubbed. If he does that, I’ll campaign for whoever is running aginst him to make sure he’s out early in the primaries. I hope all Republicans do, because if he does it shows how he stabbed them in the back this election.

Comment by Khan Krum | 2008-10-15 16:37:42

If Rudy has it, he’ll release it. He loves America and knows what is at stake in this election.

Comment by Urban Hillbilly | 2008-10-15 16:44:21

Yeah, plus Rudy could be Attorney General for McCain.

Heck, if he has some great stuff, maybe a supreme court nomination!!

Guliani also said something that all the people crying about Hillary’s “support” should pay attention to: What else is she going to say? What is Biden going to say? This is their party’s nominee.
He didn’t exactly say she’s lying through her teeth, but he didn’t say she was sincere about her support. Repubs get the United Front principle.

Comment by Rob in Chicago | 2008-10-15 16:52:17

Pfleger has Carduinal George in Chicago (a Montgomery Burn lookalike) cowed by whipping up his parish and supporters. It is the firm policy of the Catholic Archdicese in Chicago to rotate priests to other parishes after a certain number of years, but Pfleger has always received a pass on compliance with thhis policy. The most that Cardinal George could do was to suspend Phleger for a Sunday or two after his crude performance at Wright’s church as a guest speaker, and even that short suspension caused an angry backlash against the Cardinal. Pfleger is constantly embarassing the Archdiocese, but he seems beyond their control. His acts of civil disobedience (trespassing in a suburban Chicago gun store to protest gun sales, destruction of liquor and tobacco billboards) do not seem to get him arrested, but instead garner him more support from his parishoners.

McCain strategist: We lost the spin war about campaign negativity

A complement to the boss’s piece this morning about the rage that’s not on your front page and to Tammy Bruce’s argument on Fox recently about the non-difference between anti-Hillary and anti-Palin sexism. Scarborough’s right that The One, with his monster treasury, has spent more on negative ads lately than McCain has, but that’s not really the point: There’s a difference between an ad that’s negative because it claims McCain will be bad for the economy and an ad that’s negative because it claims McCain eats babies. The problem with the coverage isn’t that it shrugs at examples of the former coming from the left, it’s that it shrugs at examples of the latter. See, e.g., John Lewis, just like Nicole Wallace says.

Update: Maybe I missed it, but I can’t recall seeing a single analytical piece along the lines of the one the AP dropped on Palin a few weeks ago for her supposed race-baiting on just why it is that so many leftists seem perfectly comfortable with Bill Ayers. Even the most reasonable Democrats on the media landscape can’t seem to muster any outrage about him, and simply accept dealing with the occasional domestic terrorist as the price of doing political business. Some baby-eaters are more equal than others.

Correct me if I am wrong, but, didn’t Lady Rothchild the beautiful blond only raised 100.000.00 for Hillary Clinton? Because if she was involving in raising 10,000 mil for Mccain- OMG…there sure is a lot of bitter ex-hillary supporters out there and have given her funds to prove it.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-10-15 15:14:26

As I understand it from the NY Times article, there was a small group of 20 people who paid $28,500 each to be there, then an add’l 280 made up the rest. Lady Lynn Forrester de Rothchild was in the first group.

And, yeah - one of the other people there was Greta van Susteren’s husband, a former Hillary supporter.

I hope McCain brings up all the things you have posted. Also, someone (I think at this blog) posted something about the Global Povety Act which is I think written by him and co-sponsored by him. This has not got up for vote yet, but he wants to spend another 840Billion of our tax dollars to fight poverty (in addition to the 300 billion we now spend on forign aid each year). It is to be implemented by the UN. This is more money than the 700 billion bailout. Where is he going to get all that money?

Tish,
How does Sen obama feel about Slave reparations?

http://www.newsweek.com/id/128633/page/1

“When Barry Became Barack” by Richard Wolffe, Jessica Ramirez and Jeffrey Bartholet
NEWSWEEK 3/31/08 Issue

I found this story very interesting however I was quiet surprised when I reached the last page.
The author recounted a story that was passed on to Sen Obama by white family members concerning an incident at a waikiki bar involving Sen Obama”s bio-dad Barry Sr.

“Barry’s white grandfather and several other Hawaiian friends take Barry Sr. to a Waikiki bar.

It’s a joyous scene, everyone eating and drinking “to the sounds of a slack-key guitar,” when a white man with a booming voice announces to the bartender that he shouldn’t have to drink “next to a nigger.” The stunned clientele expects a fight. But Barry Sr. smiles and quietly lectures the man “about the folly of bigotry, the promise of the American dream, and the universal rights of man.” In response, the shamed white man gives Barry Sr. $100, in apparent payment for his sin of racism. Even the young Obama found the tale hard to believe. But many years later, he recalls in “Dreams From My Father,” he got a phone call from a Japanese-American man who had been a classmate of Barry Sr.’s in Hawaii. Unprompted, the man told Obama the same story. Obama says he was struck by the man’s tone of “disbelief”and hope.”
****************
I have wondered for a while now why , although Sen Obama talks about certain race issues he omits discussion on a VERY IMPORTANT RACE ISSUE:
Reparations for slavery.
*********************
You can imagine my surprise when I got to the last page of the Newsweek article. I am prompted to re-ask my question concerning reparations for slavery both in the U.S and in Africa-

Last year Sen Obama supported the very controversial 3rd ward Ald. Dorothy Tillman in her runoff against an independent candidate.
Tillman is one of the most important and outspoken U.S advocates of reparations for slavery.

http://www.suntimes.com/news/miller/309639,CST-EDT-MILL23.article

SunTimes Commentary- “Will 3rd Ward politics affect Obama’s presidential race? ” by Rich Miller 3/23/07

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothy_Tillman

What is Sen Obama”s position regarding US reparations for slavery in the US, and from western and ex-colonial European powers for Africa and African nations?

During the 2001 UN-sponsored World Conference against Racism, many African nations demanded an apology-plus other things- from ex-colonial European nations for the role they (European nations) had in promoting the slave trade.

Why doesn”t Sen Obama ever discuss this very important “race” issue.

http://archives.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/africa/09/01/durban.slavery/index.html

Comment by workingclass artist | 2008-10-15 16:25:27

Hmmmm…Well if the Queen of England would sell the crown jewels so I could have my ancestral potato farm back…I say pay reparations…lol…
Of course on the issue of slavery…Really shouldn’t we go straight to the source…The guys who started it all were the ancient empires…Hmmm…let me see…
Romans/Greeks
Persians
Germans/Assorted Barbarians
Egyptians
Israelites/Canannites/Assorted Biblical folks
Orientals
Arabs/Bedouines
Most of the other dead cultures throughout the world…even the aborigines traded people
So we can all pay off each other? ad infinitum…ad nauseum

Comment by NoTrollZone | 2008-10-15 17:02:42

And what about the tribes in Africa who sold their enemies into slavery in the first place.
Don’t they have to pay something? Maybe on the 1040 tax forms where you can check a box
to indicate you want a dollar to go to
the presidential campaign fund or to wildlife preservation– there should be a box to check for reparations.
And if anybody really cared about righting the
social injustices done in our country, I reckon we’d all be renting from the Native Americans. I’m afraid that would include
AA folks as well. Sorry AAs. You’re trumped.
And what about the Chinese people who were brought here to work on the railroad? And what about LGBT people who have to pay taxes like everybody else and who don’t even have the right to get married in 47 states.

And what about latino migrant workers? And what about the Japanese put into interment camps here in the states during world war II.

And what about single people and couples who have to pay taxes so everybody who chooses to have children can have public schools.

And what about the fact that in world war II, our country turned back a ship full of Jews and others fleeing nazi Germany and seeking refuge in America.

Get your checkbooks out folks, we’re in for a bumpy ride.

I’m really sick of hearing that no one has suffered as much as AAs in America. Slavery is going on in our country right now. And it isn’t predominantly AA folks who are being victimized. So if those tools in Obama psycholand want to get some social justice for those who are hurting the most, they might want to do something about the sex trade in women and children. Do the Obama psychos care about that?
Hell no.

Unfortunately, his campaign is infiltrated by neocon operatives working for the Bush Admin. to get Obama elected. what are they up to over in Obama land? Are they dropping the Michelle big mouth story just to make the Berg suit look ridiculous?

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-10-15 15:18:32

They may be referring to a story that has been debunked abt Michelle calling the API. The gist of the story was her clarifying that Obama was born in Hawaii, his Indonesian father adopted him, and LEAVE HIM ALOOOOOOOOONNEEEEE!!!!

But here is the thing - if Obama has dual citizenship, that also disqualifies him. It isn’t just a matter of being a natural born citizen. So, it may well be a red herring for Berg’s suit on BO’s birth certificate.

I think McCain will go after Obama more tonight than ever before, but he won’t come close to satisfying those hungry for red meat. McCain still sees it as his role to be the one who is not ruthless. I think he will mainly open doors on some of these issues. Obama’s whole strategy tonight is based on expecting attacks from McCain. he plans to respond by saying McCain is so weak on issues he has to resort to smears. Giving him something other than what he’s expecting is a good strategy.

Please tell me that someone as corrupt as Obama will NOT get a free pass into the afirmative action Presidency! Please tell me why on earth would FOX news do something like this!

I am wondering what the suicide rate will be after this election no matter who wins. For that f-ing candidate of hope and change, no one has given me any hope. I have no hope. Done. I want to leave the country, but I don’t think any place is safe.

The reason they’re not using negative ads more is because they simply weren’t working. Polls showed they were creating a more negative impression of the campaign running them than of the candidate they were directed against.

McCain’s strategists are to blame for several miscalculations, in my opinion:

The attack ads were too personal. People who weren’t already predisposed to dislike Obama tended to see the man himself as the target, rather than his policies or qualifications. People tend to sympathize with those they believe are being unjustly persecuted.

The ads were run too soon in the election cycle. This allowed time for the Obama campaign to make a prolonged argument that Obama was the victim of negative campaign tactics, and for the argument to slowly sink in while over-the-top ads were still running. The McCain people would have done far better to sow seed of doubt slowly but persistantly. The Obama campaign probably wouldn’t have responded, since that would have only increased the level of attention. The McCain people could then have put the pedal to the metal during the last couple of weeks before the election, leaving their opponent no time to mount an effective defense.

Starting too early also failed to take into account that John McCain would have to deal for weeks with increasing criticism that he had taken the low road–something he’d sworn not to do. He’s also had to deal with rising anger among his own supporters, who proved to be far more susceptable to the negative campaign tactics than undecided voters. I suspect John McCain is probably very angry with the strategists who have put him in this position.

McCain would be doing alot better now if his campaign had simply allowed him to be John McCain, right from the start.

Yes, a woman on CNN yesterday said that she will not say who she is voting for because she knows someone who got shot for saying.

The only hope for America is McCain/Palin.

The 527 group, Let Freedom Ring has a bunch of new anti-O ads that just came out. I saw one this morning on Fox. I was pretty good… much better than anything the McCain campaign is putting out. By The Fault has them all:

It was pretty good, not I. Sorry.

McCain needs to let Palin attack with anything that Obama can use the “victim” card with. But, I think for sure McCain can say outright… a vote for Obama is a mandate for the current congress and a mandate for Pelosi and a mandate for Reid… and a mandate for programs like ACORN. He should do that. But let Palin have Ayers and Jeremiah.

I think the only way to deal with BO is to throw his condescending, smart aleck words right back at him. “Desperate’ “Yeah Barack the American people are desperate to maintain their freedoms, read my emails” Barry’s famous, “Now, John wants you to believe” as soon as he says this McCain should say “No, I don’t want the American people to believe anything, they can think for themselves.’ You see BO is an empty vessel using the same old same old trying to act “as if.’ Throwing his words back at him is the only way to expose this fraud.

This is a great article and must describe how we all feel about this fraud.

You have to pinch yourself – a Marxisant radical who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshipped with, befriended, endorsed the philosophy of, funded and been in turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power anti-white racists, Jew-haters, revolutionary Marxists, unrepentant former terrorists and Chicago mobsters, is on the verge of becoming President of the United States. And apparently it’s considered impolite to say so.

Comment by Urban Hillbilly | 2008-10-15 15:13:41

It IS considered impolite by the Obama campaign and by the elite media, however, it is NOT considered impolite by the voting public. McCain needs to think of them tonight.

Murtha can choke on a dong. the race-hustling is disguting. I am from PA. Central Pa. Small town america.
THough we do not have alot of black folks in my town. THe ones that are there were my neighbors and friends growing up. I love these broadstroke statements. Painting everyone the same.
I have been roommates with one of my black friends.
Just because i do not worship this guys feet i am racist. Sure Jack.
THis is why i completely hate this party now.
The whole lot of them are phony race-hustling frauds.

Murtha totally defamed our troops and never apologized.
One of the troops sued him.

Wow. great vid with Guiliani (gasp! I never thought I would ever say that), he definately knows and points out that John has a plan to win this. Loved his outright laughing at Barky! :-P

The vid of michelle and barky just reaffirms my vote last Tuesday for McCain/Palin (first republican vote evah cast in my life).

The only way these two “win” is through fraud, lies, cheating, fear mongering, race baiting, and thuggery. And anything that starts with that foundation will not work out.

Resistance is NOT futile. Keep going.

I went by the local Republican office a while ago. They have a bumper sticker: Democrats for McCain* Palin and another in pink: Women for McCain*Palin.

I picked up one of each, but am not sure how or if I’ll display them.

Comment by Urban Hillbilly | 2008-10-15 15:28:25

I bought a McCain*Palin hat but don’t feel safe wearing it in my neighborhood.

I don’t want the aggravation from my family for wearing it around them.

I’m totally closeted about it!

Urban Hillbilly…

you have my sympathy. i also feel a sense of vulnerability around the obamabot intimidation tactics. former decent folks just lose it when it comes to the bobo.

however, i may devise something code like, a way to communicate with other anti-bobo folks, but will ride under the radar of the bots.

the whole situation smacks of jackboots and psi-op propaganda.

i am deeply disturbed by what i am observing this election cycle.

and i have been around for many many election cycles.

Comment by oowawa | 2008-10-15 17:41:05

Silverfox, when an older voter who has been around for “many election cycles,” and is by all indications a good stable citizen of the USA, starts to think in terms of devising code to communicate with others, red flags of alarm should be waving for all of us.

In a previous post I “jokingly” suggested we all learn Morse Code so we can communicate with each other in the Camp Compassionate Hope Reprogramming Facility. Ha Ha Ha. This is a very uneasy laugh. I hope I will eventually be proven to be a paranoid old loon.

I live in a ‘mixed’ neighborhood and while I like my neighbors, this election is bringing out the nasty in all of the Obama supporters. I am not willing to subject my vehicle, my home or my family to the wrath of these rabid Obots.

A McCain sticker on a car here is the kiss of death. Ditto for McCain yard signs. Its guaranteed trouble.

I sport Nader stuff just to let everyone know its Nobama for me.

Meanwhile there are people with little shrines to Obama on their lawns. Sickening.

What boggles the mind is that we have a man running for president who is engaged in a vigorous coverup of, of all things, his own identity!
