BREAKING: Obama Land Deal with Rezko and Mutual Bank Subject of New Court Complaint

gma_rezko_obama080110_ms-1.jpg

No Quarter introduced readers to the Mutual Bank in Chicago after a Chicago Sun-Times columnist mentioned how a certain financial institution in Chicago would become the subject of a federal probe to be conducted by Fitzgerald’s prosecutors in relation to the conviction of Antoin “Tony” Rezko. Although I cautioned I did not have conclusive evidence when I argued Mutual Bank is most probably the financial institution in question, it now appears I may have been correct.

For according to a Washington Times exclusive printed today, a Real Estate and Commercial Credit Analyst of Mutual Bank has assumed whistleblower status and filed complaint against his former employer.

The subject of his complaint is the Mutual Bank and its potentially fraudulent reappraisal of the lot on which Obama’s home sits.

Obama, we recall, was only able to purchase the mansion he could not afford in June 2005 as a result of Rita Rezko’s ability to secure a mortgage for the lot on which the home sits from Mutual Bank.

And yes, Obama is involved in this complaint, for his decision to purchase a 10 foot strip of the lot on which his home sits from Rita Rezko in January 2006 was, according to the complaint, the reason why these potentially fraudulent reappraisals of the Rita Rezko lot were drafted.

I quote the Washington Times:

In a complaint filed Thursday in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Kenneth J. Connor said that his reappraisal of Rita Rezko’s property was replaced with a higher one and that he was fired when he questioned the document.

Mr. Connor, a real estate and commercial credit analyst at the Mutual Bank Corp. in Chicago, also noted in the complaint that the bank received a grand jury subpoena in October 2006 requiring it to produce information concerning Mrs. Rezko’s purchase, including the bank’s files on the property.

Mutual Bank, Rita Rezko’s account and the mortgage Rita Rezko received from Mutual for the lot on which Obama’s home sits were the subjects of a grand jury subpoena in 2006. I recommend you read my essay on Rita Rezko, the Obama land deal and Mutual Bank for an explication of why the mortgage she received from Chicago machine banker “Uncle” Amrish Mahajan of Mutual would have raised the eyebrows of federal prosecutors.

The Washington Post continues:

The complaint also said that the grand jury wanted information on Mrs. Rezko’s checking account and loan file and that the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) had audited the Rezko file - although Mr. Connor’s lower reappraisal had been replaced with a higher amount.

“Connor’s internal whistle-blowing activity at Mutual Bank implicates Mutual Bank and the potentially guilty officers thereof to prosecution under federal and Illinois statutes,” said the complaint, filed by attorney Glenn R. Gaffney.

The complaint said Mutual Bank officials could be guilty of making false statements, willfully overvaluing property, bank fraud, witness retaliation, willful violation of a lawful subpoena, FDIC violations, and state banking regulations…

According to the complaint, Mr. Connor reviewed the appraisal of the Rezko property by another firm, Adams Appraisal, which had set the value at $625,000. Mr. Connor’s complaint said that he told his bosses in a report that the property had been overvalued by at least $125,000 and that a “reasonable and fair evaluation” should have been no greater than $500,000.

Why would Mutual Bank desire to inflate the value of the Rezko property on which the Obama home sits? Why would Mutual Bank risk obstructing justice? A paragraph in the Washington Times exclusive answers these questions. I quote them again:

The complaint said the Rezko loan was approved by Mutual Bank President and CEO Amrish Mahajan and others so that Mrs. Rezko could buy a 9,090-square-foot vacant parcel of real estate. It said that in January 2006, Mrs. Rezko and Mr. Obama, along with his wife Michelle, signed an agreement to sell a 10-foot strip of the property to the Obamas. At that point, according to the complaint, Mr. Connor’s firm asked him to conduct the reappraisal.

Connor, in other words, was fired for noting that the value of the property had been inflated.

For if Mutual adhered to Connor’s appraisal, Rita Rezko would have received less money from Obama for the ten foot strip of land next to his home he purchased from the convicted slum landlord’s wife.

And Mahajan, the CEO of Mutual, had an interest in ensuring Rezko would receive more money from Obama, for Mahajan is deeply imbricated in the Chicago machine that used Obama to funnel government revenue into the privatization of public housing scheme from which Obama’s friends profited.

Now wonder why Mutual removed Connor’s appraisal from the Rita Rezko file.

Mahajan, the Mutual Bank, Rita Rezko and the Obama land deal are now the subjects of a complaint filed with the Circuit Court of Cook County, and Obama’s financial dealings with the Mutual Bank and with Rita and Antoin “Tony” Rezko are the subjects of news articles that explore Chicago corruption and questionable real estate transactions.

I guess the deal really was “boneheaded.”

No Quarter asked readers to focus on the land deal and on Mutual when the Chicago Sun-Times mentioned that a financial institution is the subject of federal prosecutors’ interest, for Obama’s decision to purchase land from Rita Rezko catalyzed all the press on his questionable land deal with convicted slumlord Antoin “Tony” Rezko.

Now we know that transaction was the subject of a federal subpoena in 2006, and now we know a complaint has been filed against Mutual for intimidating employees and attempting to increase the value of the Obama lot most probably in order to ensure Rita Rezko would receive enough money to repay the $500,000 loan she received from Mahajan and the Mutual Bank even though she only earns $35,000 per annum at her government job.

Much more is to be learned about this land deal. But now that it is the subject of a complaint and a federal subpoena filed in 2006, I imagine we will learn that Obama chose Rezko to tour the mansion and purchase the lot on which it sits in order to ensure that he could later repay Rezko for the land he could not afford.

Why else did Mahajan, one of Rezko’s bankers who also sat on the Chicago Plan Commission of Daley with Valerie Jarrett and Allison Davis, manipulate the value on the lot when Obama was ready to repay the Rezkos for the favor?

Must money always be kept within a small network of corrupt Chicago machine cogs?

I imagine we will read more about Obama and his financial dealings with Rita Rezko and Amrish Mahajan’s Mutual Bank before votes are cast in November. It was a “boneheaded” deal indeed, Senator Obama.

Well this is an interesting development about the whistle blower and land deal. This was more than a bone-heded mistake, this was FRAUD anyway you slice it!

Comment by WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName | 2008-10-18 15:44:54

Yes, I agree, no way was this simply a bone-headed mistake, but a FRAUD. This is simply more proof that barky is not as innocent as he makes out to be.

holy GAWD I just can’t keep UP with it all!!

Seriously,

they didn’t have squat on John Kerry, Al Gore or even Bill Clinton compared to even HALF of what is piled up on the dirty side of Barry’s fence!!!

DAYUM!

I think perhaps all this HOOPLA for OBAMA is nothing but smoke and mirrors and the fact someone said he got 10,000 at his last rally I find hard to believe unless the teachers let the kids out early to go rally for them!!

(sounds like something they’d do)

what the HAIL R they gonna do when Barry is arrested or brought in by the FBI????

Will they throw themselves over the cliff for him?

Pahaha! I think so and fools like Brat Damon and PEE Dudley Diddley Fiddley Diddy will be laughed into oblivion for their ignorance and racist blind loyalty.

yea ROCK THE VOTE ya JOKE

Truthteller,
Great story and concise follow-up. It has been my pleasure the last couple of days to know that RezkoWatch (now Therealbarackobama) was interested in this side of the story from the very, very start.
I have been prattling on about the damned appraiser since this house scam first became public after Rezko’s arrest. RezkoWatch actually listened to me. Now we get to see this unfold some more.
Now it is too late for the appraiser because he was slow to sing. First guy to hit the high note gets to walk and in this case, its the guy upstairs of the appraiser who was given the order to grease this one up and slip it through. He knew it was kited and also knew that its 3 to 5 for Each Count!
If you do the thing and its part of an ongoing criminal collaboration, it wins the big prize called RICO!
Whoohoo!

Poll finds Americans reject redistribution of wealth as suggested by Barack Hussein Obama

PRINCETON, NJ — When given a choice about how government should address the numerous economic difficulties facing today’s consumer, Americans overwhelmingly — by 84% to 13% — prefer that the government focus on improving overall economic conditions and the jobs situation in the United States as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth more evenly among Americans.

Comment by wry | 2008-10-18 15:06:54

I agree. Just look at the lot in the above photo. No responsible land use board would approve creating that sliver lot. Not in an up scale neighborhood.

Comment by jbjd | 2008-10-18 15:09:55

Bemused, I always suspected her seat on the board provided her first glimpse the house was for sale; and that somehow became the impetus to sub-divide the property (either because the Obama’s really couldn’t afford the property individually or, because they figured this would be a foolproof way to money launder with their friends, the Rezko’s).

Comment by bemused | 2008-10-18 16:29:56

Somewhere I read that the previous owners knew her through the U. of Chicago. And I suspect that a social climber would know the beautiful old historic houses well; this reminds me very much of some in Denver that I yearned for. So, I am a little more skeptical than you. I think she may have managed to get on the board in the aim of finding such a house, because she had wanted one as she grew up.

Comment by mimi | 2008-10-18 20:58:07

bemused,

Thank you for saving me the trouble. MO want this house for a long time. That’s why they’re in this predicament.

I’d like to see all the details on that split, have you ever seen a parcel split twice in such a short period of time? You could see this was a crooked deal from the start, maybe Obama thought everything would be good in Daleyville, that they could cover this little bit of Corruption. Obama is REALLY STUPID, he knew Rezko had the FEDS looking at him when he did the dael with Rezko, guess he couldn’t stand the pressure from Michelle, she needed a better house, she deserved much more. Like how she spent $450 for lunch at the Waldorf Astoria on Thursday, she even ordered the Iranian Caviar for $150. Those idiots that sent Obama maney paid for lunch, thank’s you idiots!

Comment by hank48188 | 2008-10-18 16:50:49

They had a copy of the Room Service Bill at the Townhouse blog, the total was $447.39. She ordered 2 Lobster D’oeuvres for $50, 2 whole lobsters for $100, 1 order of Iranian caviar $150, and a bottle of Bollenger for $44, which sounds like a good deal for a whole bottle. Put a 20% Service charge and 8.38% Tax on the Bill. Looks like your Nephew bought Michelle lunch. I’m from the Detroit area, this remindes me of Kwame Kilpatrick, living large on someone elses money

Comment by mimi | 2008-10-18 21:42:29

What I hate is the hypocrisy. After belaboring the 7 houses of McCain, this just plain looks bad.

If people are all fed up with Republicans for the reason that they are out of touch and privileged, how do the 0bamas justify this in such a very public way?

It’s worse than tacky. It’s them thumbing their noses in our faces.

Well not my face. I know they’re slimy, lying hypocrites.

This is who the 0bamas are. They are self-centered, self-serving, cheaters who care nothing about anyone except themselves. 0bama is getting back at white America by striving for the highest office of the land so he can lord over everyone. And not just white people, he wants to lord over AAs and everyone else. He thinks he’s better than everyone.

These people do not give to charity, do no charity work and you have NEVER heard either of them make one charitable, caring, compassionate remark. Neither 0bama has even visited or spent time with our disabled Iraqi vets.

What has depressed me more than anything is the commentary that 0bama’s candidacy has made on modern American society. We are living among the shallow. The blind are now leading the stupid.

I will NEVER forgive or forget what the Democratic Party has foisted on us. The days of me voting straight down are over!

The vacant lot was previously severed, I believe. But I think it was always unbuildable. Then the 10 foot slice made it completely unbuildable, no question.

Comment by Elliott | 2008-10-18 17:32:22

I do not think it was. The city records did not show it was until after the purchase. The lot was the original garden to an 100+ year old house and very important in its value.

Comment by ritamary | 2008-10-18 21:11:07

Elliot, you are correct. This lot was the side yard of the house. Michelle Obama was on the Chicago commission that supervised historic architecture preservation at the time they purchased the house. They needed permission from the commission to separate the side yard from the house.

Why doesn’t anyone pay any attention to Michelle Obama’s political connections? I remember how Hillary Clinton’s past was raked over with a fine tooth comb when she was First Lady, and Teresa Heinz Kerry was also subject to the same treatment. The media told us how much we were going to dislike Mrs. Kerry. I actually like her much more than I like her husband.

It is time for the American People, who recognize (according to one poll not so long ago) that the media is in the tank for Barack Obama, to rise up and boycott all of the mainstream media outlets. People should boycott the advertisers on those channels and in those papers and the online versions, and really sock it to this complicit media for trying to pull the wool over the people’s eyes in order to install into office a corrupt, cynical cult leader and communist totalitarian.

I’m all for a boycott. I think, whatever the outcome of the election, NQ needs to start a thread, with names of bobbleheads and their bosses, along with their corporate supporters and we need a good old fashion American boycott.

I tried to google management of CNN a couple weeks ago, but I guess I was doing it wrong. I don’t know where to look for who ever is in charge of the bobbleheads & who directs the dialog.

To be hnest, I don’t see what’s so “breaking” about this “report”.

On another note, the few times I watch tv on cnn, the anchor heavily laden in makeup, is interviewing someone about ACORN. She continually leads the guest on with her questioning, suggesting it’s not that big of a deal for people to lie on the voter registration forms because, you know, it’s really not voter fraud because they haven’t actually voted yet! Unbelieveable

This gives the person being interviewed the perfect opening to decry the ACORN investigation as politically motivated since the authorities (whoever they may be) have known abut ACORN’s unsavory illegal activities for months.

So it’s perfectly ok what ACORN is doing because a.) the “authorities” have been aware for months and b.) it’s not so bad because these liars who filled out the forms have not actually trid to vte 77 times - yet.

Hmmm. And this is not anti-American? What say ye Jimmy Carter?

Comment by hank48188 | 2008-10-18 15:31:16

This is the Smoking Gun that will take Obama down, this shows that Rita Rezko overpaid for the vacant lot by at least $125,000. She paid more so Obama could pay less for his House. This House and Lot were always one parcel for at laest 80 years. Obama couldn’t afford the whole package so they got the owner to make a split of the parcel, chopping off a 60 ft lot for Rezko to buy. Both the House and Lot closed on the same day because the owner would only sell them together, that is how he bought it.

Comment by fif | 2008-10-18 16:22:41

No it won’t. He’ll lie his way out of this like he does everything else, and the media will cover it up and make excuses for him. We’ve seen it over and over again. People are not getting real information, and so many of them are drunk on Kool Aid, they will not believe facts.

Comment by hank48188 | 2008-10-18 16:57:18

These People from the Bank have already testified in 2006 in front of the Grand Jury. This might prove that they perjured themselves. These people will be RATTING each other out, that is what Rezko is doing now. If Rezko is lying about this Mr Conner will prove him a liar, Rezko will give it up, so will the Bank Officials. If you didn’t know Rezko is going to be sentenced on 12 counts in December, he would like to get away with 4 years like Abamoff did, he does want 12 to 15

yeah, it’s called historical preservation. too bad they didn’t look into historical tax credits which would have helped them to likely purchase both the lot and the house.

Comment by Kal | 2008-10-18 17:28:12

If the severance wasn’t done until this sale (but I think it was years before), then Michelle Obama would have been on the heritage committee that would have signed off on severance pending sale — to her friend Rita.

Comment by wry | 2008-10-18 20:29:39

The lot was zoned to be sold separately, but the sellers wanted to sell both together. The Obamas could not afford both. The tricky thing occurred when the Rezkos sold a ten foot swath back to Barky, making the remaining parcel decidedly less desirable, AND greatly improving the value of Barkys lot.

Comment by jbjd | 2008-10-18 18:23:20

He admitted to the Chicago Tribune in 2006 that he overpaid the Rezko’s for the lot; he said it was “only fair.” And the press ate it up. They did not even snicker at his stupidity. And now their editorial board has endorsed him for President.

Anyway, East St. Louis isn’t much different than south Chicago. I haven’t seen the pics, but I’m guessing there were a lot of black people in attendance at that rally. I would assume they emptied the projects in St. Louis proper and E. St. Louis.
We used to always think we would retire in O’Fallon, but now, I’m not so sure. I
am seriously thinking about letting hubby take a job in Anchorage if Barack gets elected.

OMG! We went up to O’Fallon a couple years ago. Dh was retiring from the AF & we wanted to check out the area to see if we liked it. We did like it, but he found a better job here; so we stayed put.

Hiya!

some of us are making donations to “Joe the Plumber” to pay off the tax lien.

Maybe we should start fundraising for Mr. Conner to help defray legal expenses. I’d kick in a hundred. Anybody else???

Make sure this gets to Greta, Rush, and Hannity.
You might even send it to O’Reilly. I know he has been a flake lately, but he has been all over this mortgage nonsense.

[ADMIN: When you grow up, I trust you will take classes in both Ethics and Etiquette, the mastery of which too many Obamabots appear not to have yet gained. It is sad, though, since even children can be taught basics of Ethics and Etiquette by dutiful parents. Perhaps your school or church offers remedial Ethics and Etiquette courses? Until you reach maturity, and complete those classes, we bid you adieu.]
