The New York Times is reporting that Obama now admits he needs female surrogates like Clinton to save his ass with “low educated women”, yeah he is running scared now. Do you still want Clinton supporters to get over it?

Well, I am here to tell you Obama, it is too little, too late!

I’m laughing now…Obama frightened of a woman! OMG! This is so hilarious! Palin reaches out to all women….single mothers, married mothers and so many other women.

While we may not agree with all her positions, we can see ourselves in her.

She is a fighter, will fight for mothers and families with disabled children! She will fight all the smears, sexism, and lies!

Governor Palin is authentic and courageous….and this has the Obama/Biden ticket shaking in their shoes and probably peeing down their legs!

Look who else Obama will be using….after dispatching…dispatching….Hillary to Florida. And since the election is so far past Hillary and more focused on Obama, her campaigning for him may be seen as pandering to keep her position within the Senate and the party. A party which tried to kick her out.

And Hillary’s appeal to women will remind of us this. (more…)

1) Memeorandum has this local media story today about Democratic supporters being asked to pay for tickets to the Investiture at Invesco.

One source directed CBS4 to an unpublicized part of the Obama campaign’s Web site where Democratic supporters, reportedly with deep pockets, could buy tickets for $1,000 each. The source told CBS4 he was solicited three times to buy the tickets through the Web site.

—————————–

CBS4 was able to find the Web site only by directly typing in the URL provided by the source. While CBS4 attempted to contact the Obama campaign about the selling of tickets, the pay-for-tickets page was changed to say no more tickets were available.

It’s pretty clear $1,000 just doesn’t buy what it used to. (more…)

During recent campaign stops, Obama trotted out the old race-bait bit about having a “funny name” and that no other presidents “look like me.”

Then in Union, Mo., this evening, Obama seemed to specifically accuse McCain and the GOP of peddling racism and xenophobia.

Transcript . Barack Obama ABC Interview . July 21, 2008

ABC’s Terry Moran: “And then we sat down with [Barack Obama] to talk about what has become an open disagreement between military commanders here and Obama, over his plan to withdraw all U.S. combat troops from Iraq on a 16-month timetable. Did General Petraeus talk about military concerns about your timetable?”

Barack Obama: “You know, I would characterize the concerns differently. I don’t think that they’re deep concerns about the notion of a pullout per se. There are deep concerns about, from their perspective, a timetable that doesn’t take into account what they anticipate might be some sort of changing conditions. And this is what I mean when I say we play different roles. My job is to think about the national security interests as a whole, and to have to weigh and balance risks, in Afghanistan, in Iraq. Their job is just to get the job done here. And I completely understand that.”

Moran: “But the difference is real. Commanders here want withdrawals to be based on conditions on the ground. Obama emphasizes his timetable, but he insists he would remain flexible. I’m going to try to pin you down on this.” (continued below) (more…)

Part of the Clinton Derangement Syndrome we have witnessed this election cycle puts forth the theory that anything that happens is Hillary’s fault. Senator Obama, the DNC elites and the media never miss an opportunity to try and sell this phony bill of goods to the public.

Barack’s looking real tired on the campaign trail. He forgets how many states we have. He says the problem in Afghanistan is that we don’t have enough Arabic speakers. Well, I guess if anybody actually spoke Arabic in Afghanistan, that might be a problem. I guess with a ‘mic’ in his hand, sans teleprompter, he doesn’t do so well. All Hillary’s fault.

“Can’t I just eat my waffle?” “You’re wearing me out, brother.” “Come on, guys. I just answered, like, eight questions.” “My uncle helped liberate Auschwitz” – uhh, well, no, he didn’t. Sorry if FISA is a deal breaker for you guys , but, you know, where else you gonna go? “…Get over it!” he said, at a meeting of the Congressional Black Caucus. Rep. Diane Watson warned Barack not to use that particular phrase … (more…)

1) Over at the Guardian is an interesting two-part piece (part one here and part two here ) about how old, debunked and just plain vicious right-wing rumors and lies about HRC and BC are recycled by today’s “progressive wing” of the Democratic Party. Why this should be so is not explained (and is there any acceptable explanation?).

It’s worth the read. Part one starts out like this:

In 1998, as six years of a national campaign to demonize First Lady Hillary Clinton — funded by conservatives and rooted in profound anti-feminism — was reaching a fevered crescendo, then-conservative David Brock (now of Media Matters) penned a book called The Seduction of Hillary Rodham. The publisher’s note for the tome says of its subject: “No public figure in contemporary life has elicited more polarized reactions than Hillary Rodham Clinton. The first presidential spouse who pursued a major policymaking role, the beleaguered first lady has been a heroine and role model to her feminist allies - and a malevolent, power-mad shrew to her conservative foes.”

Sometime in the last decade, her liberal foes evidently decided that whole “malevolent, power-mad shrew” thing sounded pretty good, too.

Throughout the course of the Democratic primary, it was neatly repackaged as “wildly ambitious person who will do anything in her voracious quest to win including destroying the Democratic Party while cackling monstrously and whose womanness totally doesn’t matter we swear.” The classic misogynist charge once used against Clinton by the vast right-wing conspiracy became the rallying cry of large swaths of the erstwhile reality-based community.

Without a hint of irony.

If anyone has seen the movie Becket, Peter O’Toole, as Henry II, screams at a ragged group of mean looking men, “Will no one rid me of this troublesome priest?” The king was making a political request. “Do in the bishop without me actually having to ask for it, OK?” Someone does; the king pays a rather nominal political price for seeking the bishop’s death and life goes on.

Except for the bishop, of course.

This tradition of doing in a “troublesome” friend, enemy or frienemy continues with particular transparency in the Obama campaign’s “creative” use of surrogates and those-who-cannot-be-named-surrogates.

1) On June 30th, ABC News blogs that an Obama “informal advisor” (I suppose the better to disassociate from after a nasty bit of work is done) Rand Beers said that Senator McCain doesn’t really have the chops to be a war-time leader because during Vietnam, he was A POW AND DIDN’T REALLY KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON.

It’s all over the press that beginning Friday, Hillary Clinton will be fundraising with the presumptive nominee, Barack Obama. For many of us, I’d say at least a few million, this is a nauseating thought. While we respect Hillary for her loyalty, we will not be joining her efforts. In fact, for me at least, Hillary’s choice to support Obama reminds me of the battered wife returning home to her batterer. Often, these women have no choice. And I think in a way that’s true for Hillary. She’s a Democrat before all else and I’m sure there are other complicated factors. But in a Salon article entitled: Why Clinton Supporters Will Come Back to the Fold, Walter Shapiro argues that I’ll change my mind. His piece carries the subtitle:

Don’t worry about those angry Hillary supporters who say they’ll vote for McCain or stay home in November. History proves they’ll vote for Obama.

The article shows a photo of a Hillary’s supporter, a woman of course, crying and being comforted by another. But this melodramatic display of emotion, Shapiro suggests, is just bluffing. First, to continue the theme of a domestic spat, he compares us to nagging parents. Perhaps because that insult is too banal, he then compares us to George Bush: (more…)

The Obama campaign has stated Senator Obama will visit Iraq and Afghanistan sometime before August. Earlier this week, Obama had a phone conversation with Iraqi Foreign Minister Zebari. As we noted here at NQ:

Obama finished the conversation by saying he looked forward to a face to face meeting in Baghdad. Mr Zebari may have been more impressed by McCain, however, who spoke face to face with the foreign minister on Sunday.

But something interesting came up today.

During an interview with Jake Tapper, when asked about the conversation and if Mr Zebari’s had concerns about an Obama plan for withdrawal, Obama had this to say:
