Cough. Jack, you old grouch. During the primaries, you might as well have had “I overlook no opportunity to undermine Hillary” stamped on your forehead. Here’s the crabby curmudgeon’s latest attack:

Some Hillary Clinton supporters want to make sure that the upcoming Democratic Convention doesn’t turn into a “coronation” of Barack Obama.

A humorless organization called “The Denver Group” ran an ad in a Capitol Hill newspaper demanding that Hillary’s name be placed in nomination at the convention and demanding that speeches be allowed in support of her nomination. They’re just full of demands. [HOW UNAMERICAN OF THE DENVER GROUP! Why, THEY’RE NO BETTER THAN THOSE GEORGIANS WITH ALL THEIR DEMANDS! FOR DEMOCRACY, NO LESS! HOW UNREASONABLE IS THAT?!?!?!? DEMANDING DEMOCRACY! SUCH RENEGADES!]

And if they don’t get their way they are threatening a revolt. The ad says, “Will Howard Dean and the DNC turn the Democratic Party into the Boston Tea Party?” More demands. They demand a roll call vote on her nomination… presumably after those speeches they are demanding. This despite the fact that she lost and dropped out of the race months ago. …

At the Rules and ByLaws Mugging, uh, Meeting on May31st, Howard Dean, in a truly disgraceful effort to appease Hillary’s angry supporters finally acknowledged that there might have been a bit of sexism in the campaign. But, of course, he didn’t know about it because “he doesn’t watch cable TV.” Weeks after the contest was forcibly ended, some media types dipped a toe in the waters of sexism and copped to about 5% of the brutal treatment Hillary received.

Two months after Obama has claimed the nomination, far from abating, the clamor for Hillary to be nominated has gotten louder. PUMA has grown, for obvious reasons. One big problem: R.E.S.P.E.C.T. We can’t seem to get any. Never mind sastisfaction. We ain’t getting’ any of that either.

From Rosemary Regello’s excellent piece in the City Edition: (more…)

That queasy feeling is upon me. The reason why follows courtesy of CNN’s Political Ticker:

(CNN) – Hillary Clinton will campaign for Barack Obama on two dates in August, the Obama campaign announced Tuesday.

She will hold rallies and voter registration drives in the swing states of Nevada and Florida on August 8 and 21, respectively. Obama won’t attend Friday’s event since he is taking a planned vacation with his family — and it’s not yet clear whether he’ll be at the latter date, which falls just days before the Democratic convention in Denver.
Obama has said on several occasions that he hopes for both Bill and Hillary Clinton’s help campaigning to win in November.

“I am proud to call [Hillary] my friend, and I know that I desperately need her and Bill Clinton involved in this campaign,” Obama said in New York.

I think that is the first truth I have heard out of Senator Obama’s mouth in a while – he desperately needs Hill and Bill to campaign for him. Desperate is the correct word. Otherwise, I doubt we would hear anything of the kind from him.

I guess he saw his internal polling numbers and they don’t look so good.
But the important thing is CNN and MSNBC won’t have to stage their video shots when they show America how much The Plastic Jesus is totally worshipped in Europe during his Tour de Farce.

Karma’s a bitch, baby. And today some folks out there got a snoot full.

Jesse Jackson is now falling all over himself to apologize for his “hot mic” comments about Senator Obama. Rev. Jackson intimated Obama is threatening his own support within the African American community by lecturing them on morality and talking down to them. Actually, I think Jackson said he wanted to cut off Obama’s “member”, or maybe he felt Obama was cutting off his own ‘member’ with these kinds of statements – but I’m trying to be polite. [Don’t miss Larry Johnson’s classic post last night, “Is Jesse Jackson in Trouble with the Secret Service?.”

Well, Reverend, you’ve done many good things in this country. I hope you are not the latest to go under Obama’s big, fat bus. It’s OK if you are. Join us. We’ve been down here for months. We’re kinda getting used to being disenfranchised. All us bitter voters who are actually taking a stand. You know, kind of like Hillary did today when she voted NAY on FISA. Yeah, didn’t you hear? She voted against giving retroactive immunity to telecommunications companies for spying on us. But, your friend Senator Obama; the one with the “redemptive and historic” candidacy, just threw the fourth amendment under the bus, along with all his supporters – and voted YEA. How do you, and they, reconcile that, exactly?

Seriously, Reverend, you’ll like it under the bus. We’ve opened a concession stand – we serve hot dogs and turkey burgers every day at 4 pm. Along with some bitter chips and arugula.

Guess if your son goes out and accuses President Bill Clinton of being a racist when you knew it was nonsense and said as much, albeit ever so quietly, maybe next time you’ll slap your rude kid upside the head and tell him to stop lying – and stand up for your old friend Bill with a little more gusto.

It’s as if our antibodies are successfully fighting a viral intrusion against our well-being. That’s what Barack Obama is, you know. An intrusion. He was forced upon us by his own cheating and thuggishness, with the help of his fellow thieves at the DNC.

Now word has it he wants to truncate the convention. Shorthand for that means no first ballot with Clinton’s name on it. He thinks this means he is going to bypass a vote and continue on with his charade unscathed. In reality he is bypassing 18,000,000 Democratic voters. And we are watching. So, I suspect they will have some kind of bogus vote in the end, all orchestrated to try to con those of us who do not accept Barack Obama to “fall into line”. Comrade Obama just doesn’t get it. He will though.

CNN, of all places, issued a poll that shows that the divide Barack Obama has created in the Democratic Party is growing instead of shrinking. As of today more Hillary Clinton supporters are refusing to support him than the number on June 1.

A growing number of Clinton supporters polled say they may stay home in November instead of casting their ballot for Obama, an indication the party has yet to coalesce around the Illinois senator four weeks after the most prolonged and at times divisive primary race in modern American history came to a close.

According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Friday, the number of Clinton supporters who plan to defect to Republican Sen. John McCain’s camp is down from one month ago, but — in what could be an ominous sign for Obama as he seeks to unify the party — the number of them who say they plan to vote for Obama is also down, and a growing number say they may not vote at all.

It seems that in early June, 60% of Hillary supporters said they would vote for the Democrats’ appointed Thief In Chief, Barack Obama. Now 60% isn’t anything to be holding a parade about to begin with is it? But alas, they wanted to give us “four weeks” to reach the next phase of their moronic “mourning process” theory. As a reward for their abject stupidity and unwillingness to recognize that we just plain aren’t going to vote for this shithead, this new poll revealed that the number has dropped to 54%. That’s right folks. Six percent more of Clinton’s supporters have flat out said they will not vote for the lying sexist duplicitous panderer, Barack Obama. If that isn’t a big enough message, 43% of the entire party still wish Hillary Clinton was the nominee instead of Barky Obama. (more…)

1) Over at the Guardian is an interesting two-part piece (part one here and part two here ) about how old, debunked and just plain vicious right-wing rumors and lies about HRC and BC are recycled by today’s “progressive wing” of the Democratic Party. Why this should be so is not explained (and is there any acceptable explanation?).

It’s worth the read. Part one starts out like this:

In 1998, as six years of a national campaign to demonize First Lady Hillary Clinton — funded by conservatives and rooted in profound anti-feminism — was reaching a fevered crescendo, then-conservative David Brock (now of Media Matters) penned a book called The Seduction of Hillary Rodham. The publisher’s note for the tome says of its subject: “No public figure in contemporary life has elicited more polarized reactions than Hillary Rodham Clinton. The first presidential spouse who pursued a major policymaking role, the beleaguered first lady has been a heroine and role model to her feminist allies - and a malevolent, power-mad shrew to her conservative foes.”

Sometime in the last decade, her liberal foes evidently decided that whole “malevolent, power-mad shrew” thing sounded pretty good, too.

Throughout the course of the Democratic primary, it was neatly repackaged as “wildly ambitious person who will do anything in her voracious quest to win including destroying the Democratic Party while cackling monstrously and whose womanness totally doesn’t matter we swear.” The classic misogynist charge once used against Clinton by the vast right-wing conspiracy became the rallying cry of large swaths of the erstwhile reality-based community.

Without a hint of irony.

1) One of the headscarf-wearing women denied a seat behind Obama is demanding a personal apology from the candidate.

Aref said she received a phone call and apology from an Obama campaign offiicial, but said that’s not enough.

“I do appreciate they’re taking the time to look into what happened,” Aref said. “I think it’s a huge deal. I was hoping for an apology from Sen. Obama himself. He needs to send a strong message this kind of discrimination won’t be tolerated.”
—————————–
“It is offensive and counter to Obama’s commitment to bring Americans together and simply not the kind of campaign we run,” Burton [a campaign official] was quoted as saying. “We sincerely apologize for the behavior of these volunteers.”

Of course, it’s the VOLUNTEER’S fault!! Probably a kid donating his/her time to help out and, WHAM! under the bus. Nothin’ but fumes.
