Last week, the Obama campaign reported that it had a $52 million haul in the month of June. In releasing this information, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe wrote in an e-mail to supporters that:

“You continue to prove what ordinary Americans committed to change can accomplish, despite the Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs funding so much of our opponents’ campaign.”

Two articles in the US media point to what I have long been saying about Obama’s duplicitous statements on where his money is coming from and it is not from “ordinary Americans”. It is from corporate interests and Washington lobbyists and yes PAC money. The only difference is that backhanded manner in which Obama collects his millions.

The first article is from the Los Angeles Times in article by Dan Morain entitled Donations to Obama campaign include some biggies:

Even as he touts his base of small donors, Barack Obama is relying heavily on well-heeled contributors who have given $28,500 or more each to Democratic Party committees that will campaign on his behalf.

Obama aides emphasized that the average donation to his campaign in June — during which he brought in $52 million — was $68. Over the course of his campaign, the presumed Democratic presidential nominee has raised $340 million. By law, an individual can give no more than $2,300 to a candidate for the primary and $2,300 for the general election.

Intended to get resistant Hillary supporters on board, the unity letter is likely to produce the opposite effect.  The letter repeatedly stated, “Barack Obama won. It’s over!”   In other words, “Get over it,” or as an astute Clinton supporter put it, “Get in line, it’s not your time.”   Mr. Fowler chided Hillary supporters, “I must confess a bit of fatigue and irritation with the people who continue to carp, complain and criticize the results of the primary and lay down conditions for their support.”  

The paternalistic nature of this statement and the implication that the issues raised by Hillary supporters are trivial is troubling.  “It’s time to act in a mature fashion,” Fowler implored. 

Demographics will prove that if Hillary supporters are anything, they are mature.  Maybe there is wisdom in old age since they did not select Obama. (more…)

That said, the issue of what to do with Hillary Clinton at the convention next month is causing all sorts of hand wringing in Obamaland.  The reason?  In the words of Yogi Berra, it ain’t over until the fat lady sings.  In this case, the fat lady is the 823 superdelegates who won’t “sing” until they vote during the roll  call at the convention.
 
In order to win the Democratic nomination for President, a candidate needs 2,118 delegates.  Obama only has 1,766.5 pledged delegates, about 350 short of what he needs to clinch victory.  Since superdelegates haven’t voted yet, Obama can’t be sure that he’ll have their support six weeks from now, especially while he continues to disappoint and enrage Democrats with his pandering to the right.  With Newsweek declaring a dead heat between Obama and McCain, and the Rasmussen Tracking Poll showing Obama ahead by only 2 points, and a CNN poll shows that 32% of all Clinton supporters won’t vote for president if Obama is the nominee (up from 22% a month ago), the Obama campaign is right to believe that superdelegates might not vote as expected if given the opportunity to do so in Denver.
 
All this moved Clinton turncoat Taylor Marsh to go on a scolding rant against democracy, urging that Obama should make sure there is no roll call vote because that would highlight the fact that he hasn’t secured the nomination. (more…)

A life-long Democrat, who has never voted Republican, the ideals espoused in the Preamble to the Democratic Party have been the coalescing force behind my dedication and loyalty. Unity to a common purpose does not mean “falling in line” to support a “selected” candidate. Rather, unity to uphold our Democracy and the principles of our Party are paramount. The resistance by loyal, life-long Democrats to automatically support the presumptive nominee is often characterized as an act of disloyalty; that we “sore losers”. No, on the contrary, we are vanguards of our Party and we stand united to right the egregious wrongs we have witnessed.

PREAMBLE

We, the Democrats of the United States of America, united in common purpose, hereby rededicate ourselves to the principles which have historically sustained our Party. While Howard seems to have a self-destructive desire to cut the Democratic Party in half, thereby marginalizing it for another couple of decades, one wonders what exactly he will be doing for a living in January. All I can say is I am really glad he’s not practicing medicine on women any longer.

The Denver Group has written the following letter to Howard, so he understands that nothing he says will ever get past them. An Open Letter To Howard Dean from The Denver Group

Dear Dr. Dean,
Through the wonders of the internet The Denver Group has learned that you have reportedly discussed us in an interview today. Since the purpose of our ads has been to make our points partly to you as well as the rest of the DNC and Democrats as a whole, normally we’d be pleased to know they are getting through to you. But based on the interviewer’s characterization of your comments, we don’t think you actually know much about The Denver Group, its founders, and its goals. The interviewer writes:

When asked about the ads criticizing him and Speaker Pelosi for Clinton supposedly not being on the ballot at the convention, he [Howard Dean] scoffed. Clinton will be on the ballot at the convention, and will be speaking there. Dean indicated that the rules were so clear on this matter, that the groups running these ads and spreading these rumors must be associated with the other internet rumors going around, such as Obama being a Muslim. He also speculated that McCain supporters might be behind these rumors.

No need for you to speculate, Dr. Dean. We are happy to tell you exactly who we are, what we expect of you and the DNC, and why your comment that Senator Clinton’s name will be on the ballot is not enough. Senator Clinton’s name must be put in nomination, not just “on the ballot” and the roll call vote to be a real honest and open opportunity for superdelegates to do their job under DNC rules and select the nominee at the Convention. Just saying that Senator Clinton’s name will be on the ballot is not going to fool anyone. Being on the ballot counts for nothing if a candidate’s name is not placed in nomination. More than 18 million Democratic voters would be pleased to hear you say publicly that there will be an open convention with Senator Clinton’s name placed in nominaton and an open roll call vote.

Since the interviewer in question does not quote you directly and certainly has never asked us about our views on any of the matters you supposedly raised in relation to our group, we are not speculating as to what you actually said or what you actually believe or know about The Denver Group and its founders, Heidi Li Feldman and Marc Rubin. It seems that Sen. Obama’s dream of delivering a speech before thousands in front of the Brandenburg Gate, the very same place where two great American presidents—John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Ronald Reagan—have so proudly stood, is not to be.

And so, it seems that Barack Changeling Obama shall have to wait for another day to further stoke his delusional Narcissistic fantasy that he is JFK. This is especially hard on the poor child, particularly since he has put so much effort into the design of his personal logo that just never seems to really catch on with his stupid, mean and bitter American subjects. So these must be the “Green Jobs” Barack Obama is thinking about. A couple of hundred thousand consultants. Wonderful. It’s a great way to hire and boost the income of friends and family though. That doesn’t include You, suckers. Just so you know.

While most Americans find that what once was their disposable income is now used to barely feed their families with whatever is on “special” this week at the supermarket (healthy or not), the Democratic Party “of The People” is defining other priorities for them. What will the DNC do for the American people at the convention? Why they are going to make sure that Prissy Barack Obama has his arugula, I am sure. But they won’t stop there. No sir.

They have hired a Director Of Greening. No kidding. That’s the title. You can’t make this shit up. (more…)
