. . .an increasingly nasty lawsuit against the DNC, brought by Donald Hitchcock after he was fired as the party’s gay and lesbian outreach director, has exposed the rift between gays and one of the party’s most important constituencies, African Americans.

As an outsider to both groups, it seemed to me that the LGBT groups were looking for recognition, participation and a guaranteed voice in DNC matters. Many consider this a civil rights issue. While the use of the term “civil rights” seems to offend some AA groups, it does not necessarily look as if “civil rights” is the driving factor in what follows.

In my read of the available materials, the issue is power. Powerful AAs in the Democratic party want to keep that power in AA hands. An example of this was the recent election in Alabama of Patricia Todd, the first openly gay state legislator. In a race for the seat of a retiring AA legislator, with no Republican opponent, the Democratic primary would decide who held the seat. (more…)

Oh, really? Is that why he is desperate and playing the race card once again, this time on Senator McCain? He must be wondering why he got no bounce from his Barackapalooza World Tour, or why the American public as a whole is not bamboozled enough to vote for him.

Not surprisingly, Senator McCain’s campaign seems to have found solid footing painting Obama quite accurately as a ‘celebrity candidate.’

Davis mentioned that since Obama was too busy to visit the troops, but had time for several workouts a day and made special diet demands, it would be hard to characterize him as anything but a ‘celebrity.’ When Andrea went after him for this ‘triviality,’ Davis pointed out that it is the media that sees fit to make public domain all the minutae of what this candidate was doing — and that when the press would cover it, he would be happy to come back and discuss more substantive issues. Ouch.

How ridiculously distressing, to say the least, that the DNC did not see this coming. Did they have dollar signs clouding their eyes? Was it Clinton Derangement Syndrome? Were they so caught up in their fear of an actual leader with her own clear vision that they would instead trumpet an empty suit, a shape-shifting charlatan, so that the old guard of the DNC could set the agenda and whisper in this neophyte’s ear? In order to “save” the Democratic Party, Brazile resolved back in 2003 that she might have to destroy it first. And who better to help her in this lofty pursuit than her new best friend, the man neoconservatives call “The Architect”.

It’s not every activist politico who gets to write a post in the Washington Times that begins like this: "As I sat by my window and staring out at the wonderful Washington, D.C., landscape, my office announced a phone call from Air Force One."

Evidently, Donna Brazile was reminding all the little people on Capitol Hill that she had friends in high places. In summer of 2007, Bush senior advisor Karl Rove wasn’t answering any subpoenas from Congress, but he didn’t mind talking to Brazile. From his perch at 20,000 feet, he informed her that this was probably a good time for him to get out of Dodge.

“Mr. Rove’s resignation is not a retirement,” Brazile reassured readers of the right of center newspaper. “It’s just another opportunity for him to create that lasting Republican majority he envisioned years ago and to spend his waking days doing what he so enjoys — beating Democrats in the alleys and gutters. Just ask Sen. Hillary Clinton, Mr. Rove’s target when he called in to speak to Rush Limbaugh. He couldn’t help it. Mr. Rove just had to take one last shot before riding out of town. More to come, Team Clinton.”

Brazile’s breezy account confirms what many have long since suspected. Rove’s claim to be sitting out the 2008 race is hogwash. The mastermind of today’s unraveling U.S. constitution is in no position to kick back, down gin fizzes and watch the country collapse under an Administration he put into office twice. The list of crimes that Bush’s top henchman could potentially be charged with - everything from fraud to war crimes - should be enough to keep him and his fellow Sopranos in hair-trigger mode until the next president gets sworn in. And the notion that he’d leave the choice of commander-in-chief in less capable dirty hands than his own requires more than the willing suspension of disbelief. It requires medication.

So these must be the “Green Jobs” Barack Obama is thinking about. A couple of hundred thousand consultants. Wonderful. It’s a great way to hire and boost the income of friends and family though. That doesn’t include You, suckers. Just so you know.

While most Americans find that what once was their disposable income is now used to barely feed their families with whatever is on “special” this week at the supermarket (healthy or not), the Democratic Party “of The People” is defining other priorities for them. What will the DNC do for the American people at the convention? Why they are going to make sure that Prissy Barack Obama has his arugula, I am sure. But they won’t stop there. No sir.

They have hired a Director Of Greening. No kidding. That’s the title. You can’t make this shit up. (more…)

Donna Brazile, who ran Al Gore’s 2000 campaign, said the Obama campaign has had a “lousy start to the general election. Although the political environment continues to favor Obama and the Democrats, the candidate is still not fully on four cylinders.”

Maureen Dowd, in today’s New York Times column, “May We Mock, Barack?,” in which she chides Obama for his uptight response to the New Yorker cover cartoon:

But he does not want the “take” on him to become that he’s so tightly wrapped, overcalculated and circumspect that he can’t even allow anyone to make jokes about him, and that his supporters are so evangelical and eager for a champion to rescue America that their response to any razzing is a sanctimonious: Don’t mess with our messiah!

If Obama keeps being stingy with his quips and smiles, and if the dominant perception of him is that you can’t make jokes about him, it might infect his campaign with an airless quality. His humorlessness could spark humor.

And the DNC has been tanking financially since the last quarter of last year. Surprise!

Do you think they have guessed why? Could it be that all those “downscale” Clinton supporters did more for the DNC and its candidates than they care to admit? Regret. It’s what’s for dinner on Howard, Nancy and Donna’s plate. It’s just too bad they are only having “health food” at the convention. Otherwise, Let Them Eat Cake would apply here. But never mind. Barack’s looking real tired on the campaign trail. He forgets how many states we have. He says the problem in Afghanistan is that we don’t have enough Arabic speakers. Well, I guess if anybody actually spoke Arabic in Afghanistan, that might be a problem. I guess with a ‘mic’ in his hand, sans teleprompter, he doesn’t do so well. All Hillary’s fault.

“Can’t I just eat my waffle?” “You’re wearing me out, brother.” “Come on, guys. I just answered, like, eight questions.” “My uncle helped liberate Auschwitz” – uhh, well, no, he didn’t. Sorry if FISA is a deal breaker for you guys , but, you know, where else you gonna go? “…Get over it!” he said, at a meeting of the Congressional Black Caucus. Rep. Senator Obama, in his shameless pandering regarding one of the world’s worst atrocities, was trying to ‘liberate’ voters from reality. It seems supplanting facts with his ’special’ embellishments is a particular talent of his. He is constantly looking to make himself a hero by association. In his speeches, he raises the specter of every great leader we’ve ever had, conveniently mentioning himself in the same breath. This ‘holocaust’ fabrication, while one of many, was not one I took kindly to, for obvious reasons.

Dr. Kate’s June 6, 2008 article, “My Letter to the Editor re a Democratic Superdelegate’s Threats,” reports writing to California Super Delegate Steven J. Ybarra to question Obama’s qualifications for President and got the following response:

“[g]ood for you, when the fascists come in the middle of the night to take you to a concentration camp, remember how you voted.
