Their behavior during the campaign was so far from being progressive that I’ve concluded that they’re not actually progressives — at least not of the New Deal, progressive government heritage. Indeed, Markos proclaims himself a libertarian Democrat, meaning he’s well-off and politically correct.

Regarding the Silence of the Bloggers while the media performed a misogynistic bloodletting on Hillary, Big Tent Democrat writes:

[Digby] KNOWS why [media bias] was not covered by most of the Left bogs until the ABC debate - for the same reason the Media’s bias, sexism and misogyny was not covered by the blogs - because they loved it when it was against Hillary Clinton. The Left blogs failed in the primaries and it is time they owned up to it and why - when it was smears, sexism and silliness against Clinton, all was well. Look at Keith Olbermann for crissakes. Their complaints about McCain favoritism in the Media, to the extent it exists, now rings hollow. Their credibility had been shot long ago.

All of this kind of reminds me of a time awhile ago, when that Neo Conservative Fascist Dick Armey referred to Barney Frank as “Barney Fag” during a press conference. He lost his mojo after that one. You never saw a “leader” disappear from public view so fast in your life after that. Armey didn’t “mean” to call Barney a fag. He even tried to say is “sounded” like “fag” but wasn’t “really” fag. But the truth is, a video is a video and Dick called Barney Barney Fag. I heard it and saw it live. But I will agree that he didn’t do it on purpose. It was a slip of the tongue. It’s just that Dick was so accustomed to calling Barney that in front of all his compadres over cigars, scotch and guffaws that he forgot where he was.

The same goes for the Neo Liberal Fascist Howard Dean when he referred to the Republican Party as the “White Party” earlier this week. (more…)

Okay - what did you see? As promised, Hillary Clinton will be speaking - among 274 other people. Okay - not really that many, but now she is one of TEN - 10 - speakers. Oh, yes - all kinds of people are thrown in there. I guess this way, they can try and (micro)manage her impact on the Convention crowd. But get THIS: SHE is not the Keynote Speaker. Oh, no - that honor goes to FORMER Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Mark Warner. Who, you say?? Yeah. See, I know him because I lived in Virginia when he was governor. But really - seriously - honestly - out of ALL the people Obama could have picked (and HE is the one who sets the schedule), he picked Mark Warner. Yep.

2) Obama is finally asked about the charge of race-baiting.

The Tampa Bay News and St. Petersburg Times interviewed Obama and he had this to say:

“I was in union, Missouri which is 98 percent white - a rural, conservative. and what I said was what I think everybody knows, which is that I don’t look like I came out of central casting when it comes to presidential candidates.

Nobody? Hmmmm. Seems like all the discussion on the ‘net, on tv and radio might just suggest otherwise.

Casting a critical glance at Michelle Obama’s abortive attempt to woo women voters at the Palmer House this week in Chicago, Marin explains why Michelle’s bankrupt entreaties will fall on deaf ears.  I quote Marin:

The Obama campaign has a woman problem. How big? How small? It’s not clear, but in a close election, small can be big.

Marin, in other words, acknowledges the schism in the Democratic Party, a schism, she correctly observes, that is a result of the disenchantment of a core constituency: women.  Refer to them as small all you want, Democrats, but small is large in a competitive general election.  And yes, size matters.

CBS 2’s Dorothy Tucker reports Michelle Obama gave a speech Monday at the Palmer House Hilton, at an event called “Women for Obama.” But the message was clearly aimed at women for Hillary Clinton. 

Michelle Obama walked into the room to a standing ovation. Most of the people in attendance were longtime Barack Obama supporters, but the candidate’s wife made it clear she was here to court the new supporters. And she did so by praising her husband’s former opponent. 

“My husband is a better candidate because of her,” Michelle Obama said. “My daughters will look at themselves differently because of her. All of our children, our girls, will believe in the possibility of something bigger because of her.”  

Someone please remind Michelle that relegating an eminently qualified woman to the role of supporter of the hopelessly unqualified man will not cajole women voters to support her husband.  Someone also explain to Michelle that women are concerned with women’s rights, not with the manner whereby the Obama daughters perceive themselves.  And please remind Michelle that a woman who allows her husband to accompany her to a job interview in order to determine if he approves of her boss is in now way qualified to discuss women’s rights and women’s issues.

Susan Nieman had an Op-Ed in the New York Times, of all places (what us be sycophants?), telling the REAL deal in her piece, “Change Germans Can’t Believe In.”

In her very good piece Ms. Nieman had this to say:

Barack Obama’s speech in Independence, Mo. (6/30/08)WITH gestures that ranged from a wink to a sneer, most anyone you met here this week volunteered the view that Barack Obama’s visit to Europe caused unprecedented frenzy. But it’s been hard for me to find a European, aside from two Harvard-educated friends in Paris, who confessed to excitement — not just about the visit, but the prospect of an Obama presidency.

It is true that Der Spiegel, the German newsweekly, featured Mr. Obama on its cover, topped by the words “Germany Meets the Superstar” — but the cover was satire, and nasty satire at that. The editors managed to find the ugliest photograph of Mr. Obama ever taken. It caught the senator at a moment that might be exhaustion but looks like conceited smirking. When Der Spiegel featured Mr. Obama on its cover in March, the cover line was “The Messiah Factor.” Must one add that this, too, was not meant to be taken at face value?

CNN’s Friday, July 11, latest masterpiece in manipulation, indicates the degree to which the obama (I refuse to ever capitalize his name) campaign is worried. Giving Hillary more continuous air coverage, in this 60 minute special, than it ever did during the vote-getting season, the network hinted that Hillary deserves some credit, after all. While they pointed out (in their version) that, although she ran a terrible campaign which got off on a failing footing - due to her “arrogant” presumption of entitlement to office (a perspective the MSM, not Senator Clinton, generated) - it’s now come to light that the Clintons hold sway with millions of voters.  

Now, isn’t that an extraordinary insight we needed ‘the world’s largest news network‘ to make clear? And that being the case, it’s time to give this she-devil her due - for, without her, it appears their Golden Boy might fall short of their mutual aims. While the same evidently illiterate geniuses at work continue to blur all distinctions between Hillary’s platforms and Barack’s, they and obama’s conjoined Corporate cause has begun, at last, to realize his polling results are shakier, week by week, and that will not serve. A strategic new spin is, thus, demanded. 

And this one, as demonstrated by Andersen Cooper and friends, requires due deference to the more qualified Clinton, her unswerving supporters and even (however demeaning to acknowledge) her husband, with his record of salvaging our Republic from the ravages of the first Bush. We really should give MSM credit due. It musn’t be easy to stoop to inviting back two genuine, intelligent Hillary supporters (not the backstabbers they usually prefer to include). Next, think of the editing gymnastics involved in juxtaposing these candid commentaries on the Clintons’ undying merits with enough punctuating invalidations by network anti-Clintons to convey their  real message.
